ECZenith
I also must vote for Astroland, you just walk away with a stink about you. I haven't really been to any other small, rotting parks besides this one. I mean, I love the Cyclone and all but the rest of the park is just dirty with horrible customer service. andy_e219
I'm sorry to say this, but I'm giong to have to say Conneaut Lake Park. On a weekday, you literally had to walk through the empty midways and find somone to operate one of the few rides that were operating. I became interested in the park again in 2004, and I returned to the park that year. About half the rides weren't operating and the Blue Streak looked like it was ready to collapse. In the following years it looked to be getting better. They reopened several rides, rebuilt sections of the Blue Streak, and pressure washed all of the buildings. It seemed like attendance was going up also. I do not know why everyone is saying Lakemont. I was there last year and the park was packed, and all of the rides were freshly painted and operating well.
raptor6
Pedroland Park in South Carolina. I totally agree with you. I went there about 6 years ago and thought that the place was terrible. A taco that would cost you 50 cents at Taco Bell cost me $3.00 at this dump. I went into the restroom (big mistake, especially since the stalls looked like jail cells) and almost gagged! I will never step foot into this tourist trap again!
ParkTrips
I wouldn't really call Uncle Bernie's or Pedroland a true *park*. I would have to agree that Clementon may be the biggest dump of them all. Actually I can't even think of a park anywhere near as bad on all levels. I'm still shocked its not townhouses. I'm just sad this is a negative thread that I can't mention Holiday World and their awful free pepsi and concentration camp like charm.

Sgt. Fox
I'll put in a second vote for Castles N' Coasters in Phoenix, AZ. Gotta love a place where all the coasters are O.D. Hopkins. No spare parts manufactured since 2001. LOL.
Big Mike
my nominations:Blue Diamond Park Well you don't have to worry about this park anymore. Their website tonight said that this park is closed indefinately and will NOT open in 2008. See what happens when you complain Larry, you get results fast! Airtime&Gravity
Como Park up in Minnesota was pretty bad as it was basically just a permanent carnival. Now I know it is owned by a carnival company, but for a park that has been around as long as it has, it should look better. Sure I will always remember it as it was home to my first coaster, but I have no reason to return to it.

lil jimmy norton
My park. Lovely ole' Astroland (or as I call Dumb Asstroland). Worst. Park. Ever! After the way they treated me, I didn't want to go back the rest of the season, but my mom forced me on an outing, and coaster friends came from out of town and I took them on the Cyclone. Otherwise, they can go burn in hell -Dainan "I hold grudges " Rafferty And the nieghborhood isn't the greatest either.
bobafett
Does anybody have any pics from these parks? I would love to see what some of them look like. I also went to a place called Family Fun Spot. I can't remember exactly where it is located but it's not to far from where I live in Philly. I know it is just off an exit of I-95 south going towards the burbs of I'm going to say maybe Media or something. Does anybody on here know exactly where it is? I'm sure there are people who do. Anyway, what a dump. They had 2 waterslides, a picnic area, a go-kart area, and maybe some other attractions but it was located right next to a highway and industrial area. Oh boy ! We used to go there when I was a teenager and I never had to pay to get in because my aunt works for a karate organization and they used to have picnics there for the karate school and she would give me free tickets. Oh well, I shouldn't complain about getting in somewhere for free, but it was a dumpy place and we still had fun.

Darksin
You wanna see scary? Allow me to show you... And that my friends, was Fun'n'Wheels. They're long out of business now but I recall going there a few times with friends (circa early 90's) and even then is was crap-tastical. Yes, it looked about the same the entire time is was open! Pufferfish
I have to agree with a lot of other people here and nominate Pedroland. I have driven past it many times, and it just scares the crap out of me just looking at it.

printersdevil78
Thought this thread could use a few more decrepit photos. I must be a better photographer than I thought because these places actually looked a LOT worse than some of the images would indicate. Oldest continuously operating fun house in the United States at Bushkill Park in Easton, PA, in 2002. Unfortunately, I've since heard this park has sustained extensive flood damage. It was 98 years old when I visited and looked every bit of it. Creepy abandoned Pedroland lemonade stand. Gratuitous Pedroland sign shot from 2002. This would be where I bought the rusty can of maple syrup I mentioned in my earlier post. Don't let the sign fool you. There was nothing fresh in this building, fudge or otherwise. I tried hard to crop the rotting wood out of this shot while I was taking it then got the heck out of there before the canopy overhead collapsed on top of me, which seemed to be a distinct possibility. They had pews set up beneath the canopy for brave souls who wanted to sit and contemplate the Wal-Mart Nativity scene. Elves hard at work in Santa's sleigh shop. The carousel in the kiddie ride area. If the fence doesn't impress you, check out the bare-wood chariots. Good luck trying to find someone to run it. The whole park basically had three attendants and a guy dressed as Santa Claus who, in lieu of candy canes, handed out pseudo business cards with religious scriptures on them. A random scene on the kiddie train ride through the woods. It's Mickey Bunny! Just down the road from Mr. Plum Man was the Igloo Pancake House. This used to be a restaurant, apparently. By 2003, it was just a moss-covered shack. I'd say they served the last pancake here several years before I was born. Just a guess. The Purple Plum Man. Why? Who knows? His arms were held on with strapping tape, and he had several wasp's nests attached to him. I found the sign thrown off to the side somewhere and placed it in front for descriptive effect. I don't think anyone minded. Photo op. My poor parents. Holiday World it ain't. Here's Santa's School. Not sure why Santa has a school or why he decided to paint it in day-glo colors. Next up is Santa's Land USA in Putney, VT, from 2003. I understand they've since gotten new owners, so maybe things are better now. Paint much? Hope the floor is in better shape than the outside of the building.... Kiddie coaster. Kind of. Good luck finding someone to run it. Located between the 1950s bumper cars and whip with potholes (have photos of both, but can't find them right now). Without a doubt the most bizarre kiddie spinner I've ever seen. Fiberglass clowns and policemen stretched out like Superman in flight with their backs and butts hollowed out for easy riding. And it lights up at night! Bushkill's attempt at costumed characters. Note the 1940s kiddie train in the background. Entrance to another historic attraction, the last original Haunted Pretzel dark ride still operating in the United States, in 2002, at least. I think the floods have since wiped it out. Another inside shot. This old wooden slide was about the neatest thing at the park. Inside the world's oldest continuously operating fun house. EDIT: This should have gone with the Bushkill section, but I neglected to resize the photo before I submitted, then wasn't able to upload the resized version without deleting the old one. Ironically, right in the middle of all this squalor was one of the most gorgeous antique carousels I'd ever seen. Of course, it was right next to the rotting park snack stand, where I got a cold pork roll sandwich and room-temperature Coke.
coastercrazed49
I think if I saw that pink gorilla coming up to me I would run away. That things strange looking. I would have to agree that Astroworld is really starting to go downhill, and hopefully the city can do something about it.
307
I nominate Pedroland... and Lakemont... those places were dumps. I think at one point, Nikki and I were just laughing at how awful they looked. Disgusting excuses for "parks". That said, those shots of Bushkill were cringe-worthy. Thanks for the pics, Darksin. Darksin
Oddly enough that "Moss covered shack" was the last standing Xanadu: Home of the future. There was one in Orlando but like everything else it went the way of the dino's and was demolished in 03-04. Oddly enough I believe Knoebels still has an orignal pretzel dark ride.
printersdevil78
Actually, though Knobels' Haunted House uses Pretzel cars, the ride itself is an amalgam of gags from Funni-Frite, those salvaged from other dark rides and some built by park workers themselves. I'm not even sure the Pretzel Company was still operating when the Haunted House was built, or if it was, it was nearing its demise. Having said that, maybe Bushkill's wasn't the only original Pretzel operating; maybe it was just the oldest, now that I think about it. Either way, it's gone now. And yes, I remember Xanadu in Orlando! They had about three of them around the United States, didn't they? It was kind of an odd little place. I remember when it closed. I definitely would have bought it had I won the lottery around that time.
Tanks4me05
printersdevil78, I'm pretty sure Sylvan Beach's Laffland is an original Pretzel Dark Ride as well - built in the mid 1950's.
