zeke11793 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 ^ It sounds like some type of dark ride/simulator.
ahecht Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Teaser online. Not much is revealed but it opens already in 56 days. We will be there in about 3 months so now I'm getting really curious to find out what we will be able to experience over there. That's not a count-down. It's counting UP from 12:00am, January 1st, 7993BC (10,000 years before 12:00am January 1st, 2008). The attraction (along with the rest of the remodeled Table Rock Visitor's Center) will open this summer.

bspellx5 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I was just in Buffalo for a hockey tournament, and I went to the falls to see if I could see anything [only the ugly side though as I didn't have any of the papers I needed to cross the border].I couldn't see too much, but from what I could see there wasn't anything around that looked like it could be some sort of ride or something. So my guess is a simulator and nothing that actually interacts with the falls itself. On a side note, that area is actually kind of scary around this time of year because theres absolutely nothing around or happening, you can tell its such a summer and tourist town, everything was closed except the Hard Rock Cafe.
Hand 0f Time Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 While reading the article and watching the teaser, I didn't see any way they can make a thrill ride with this. The only note I can say is that it'll be a motion simulator ride, nothingmore. The barrel ride does sound fun, but not to mention very deadly if any SLIGHT mistakes were made. A roller coaster = Ruin 1 of the 7 wonders.
mightypotato Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I was on the Canadian (good) side of Niagara Falls last week and went down by Table Rock to see if anything was posted. There was absolutely no signage about the attraction at all. Although, there was some construction going on at the Table Rock complex which leads me to believe its a 4D movie or something.
ahecht Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I would vote for 4D as well. Whip up a slick CGI film, add in a few fans and sprinklers, and presto: instant "one-of-a-kind" attraction.
vistaway Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Here's an interesting take on what it could be: "One source told me that Niagara's Fury is a type of floating theater where an indoor waterfall surrounds visitors and a multimedia display takes place on, in and around the cascades that immerses you in the history and power of the world's most famous waterfalls." I am inclined to believe it. It makes sense: it's indoors, fairly compact, family-oriented, unique, somewhat educational, etc. I had suspected they would do something more like Twister or Backdraft on a smaller scale - this sounds close to that.
thecoasterkid Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 So a circlevision theatre but with water? Sounds very interesting and definitely unique. I would be sure to include that atleast once in a visit to the falls.
eBen Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Robb / Elissa - are there any thoughts on adding this to the Behemoth/Ravine Flyer trip if it turns interesting?
SharkTums Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 A circlevision theater with effects? No. If it's something more interesting, sure.
Hercules Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I guess it is something "different" and slightly "interesting", but it definitely isn't something that will draw more people in. It will be something that will attract people just as a "Eh, that looks like fun, why not?" kind of attraction. I heard from my mother, who went up to Niagra Falls for the New York State bowling championships last year, that there was already a simulator up there with the barrel going over the falls - kind of figured they weren't going to do something like that then if she is correct.
vistaway Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I think it will draw more people in. The complex that it's located in is simply the best location to view the Falls, and the most popular. They are almost done rebuilding the complex with more food and shopping options so it will become more of a destination. Pretty much anyone who visits the Falls will go past or through Table Rock at some point. The Niagara Parks Commission, who is building the attraction, is extremely well-run (if a tad secretive) and I am sure they did masses of market research prior to this. They will likely include this in their day pass offering or as an upsell, which means most tourists will visit it.
Hercules Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I'm sure it will draw people in and make money, but I'm just saying that this particular attraction by itself is going to boost attendance to the falls. I'm sure it will be very popular for the people that go there, but there isn't going to be a jump in tourism due to this.
Carnage Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 A circlevision theater with effects? No. If it's something more interesting, sure. Were you considering a tourist stop to see the falls on the trip? If so anyone who was interested could probably walk down there and check it out. Everything at Niagara Falls is walking distance.
Hercules Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 ^ You guys are going to open fire on the tourists?!
jamesdillaman Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Honeymooners are worth double points, Second honeymooners are TRIPLE points! Happy hunting -James Dillaman
thecoasterkid Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 If you're on the American side of the falls...I'm sure driveby's wouldn't be anything new. There is a SERIOUS difference between the 2 sides of Niagara Falls. I would have no quams about walking all over town on the Canadian side, but I'd be pretty wary to do so much as park my car on the American side. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit a circlevision type attraction, but if I find myself with free time in the area I'd give it a try atleast once. So far it seems a bit higher class than alot of the tourist traps around. If it was something like Poseidon's Fury than I'd be really happy! That would definitely be a big step forward for the area.
sfmmrules! Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I'm thinking it could be the next generation drop ride thats something like Disney's Tower Of Terror. Where an elevator car zooms over the edge then drops down one of the falls into the water making it a drop ride/log flume! You would get soaking wet! That would be cool!
Philrad71 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 On a side note, that area is actually kind of scary around this time of year because theres absolutely nothing around or happening, you can tell its such a summer and tourist town, everything was closed except the Hard Rock Cafe. I agree, but the American side is pretty much depressing no matter what time of year that you visit. NY really needs to beef up this end of the state because it is really lagging in the tourism department. Western NY is, and probably always will be, the ugly step-child to NYC. We are like the ugly puppy that no one chooses at the pet store, or the Durian of fruit, if you will. Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful, scenic places in the country, but from a tourism standpoint, it is severely mis-managed and has been for years! The only thing that I do when I go to the American side is to hit Goat Island and Three Sisters Island to take in the scenery. Have you ever been to the Rainbow Center?? Guhhh...there is definitely nothing happy and gay about this place! I did the balloon ride there last August and while it was pretty cool and offered great views, you couldn't ummmm...see the Falls. Not to give the Canadian side a free pass either. Clifton Hill is really pretty lame, with the exception of the new ferris wheel and indoor water park. But at least they are making an attempt to salvage and restore the area and the tulips and landscaping are much better. This new attraction will help bolster revenue to the Canadian side and have NY state officials scratching their heads again and saying, "Duhh, what do we have to do to get more people on the American side of the Falls - hyuk!"
guido fawkes Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 i think they will make a tower underneath the falls with a galss bottom or a ride that will tilt you 90 straight down looking down at the falls or somthing totaly different just wait and se
denning Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I was there today and took a bunch of pictures. I will post them tommorow evening. Long story short, it must be as rumored before a movie attraction of some short, probably circlevision-esque with water invovled. The space is NOT big enough for anything else. They could not fit a dark ride or an unique attraction in that space. There is very little work going outside the main tablerock building. And the location is too unique to the falls to do anything extreme. It could have been an upgrade to the scenic tunnels/ "journey behind the falls" but that attraction was running normally so I don't think it is invovled.
