montezooma
It looks like the folks at Cedar Fair have been reading the posts about the renaming of the Top Gun Coasters and have decided against the name "Flight Deck. Here is the new name So much Better!
Wes
Why would they do this? RIP Flight Deck 2008-2008 May You Deck Give Us All Flights
SharkTums
So do we get to take credit for this?
PKIVortex
I wonder if the rest of the Flight Deck's will get the Afterburn treatment?
Sparebear75
Bravo PGA, that's a great twist on the Top Gun theme. I'm still waiting for Cedar Fair to capitalize on American Idol popularity and name a coaster Sanjayahawk.
cfc
Aw, and I was hoping they'd use the name "Inverted Coaster"--so precise, so succinct.
Moose
^add on a #1 and it could be RCT themed. Oh wait, that may require a license.
Angry_Gumball
One little peeve about this name...they could have added an 'er' onto it (Afterburner). Definitely better than Flight Deck (Sounds like a stationary object, good name if the ride's SBNO). Lastly, this is the name I was guessing Top Gun would be renamed if it was being renamed. SharkTums
^I was thinking that too, my guess is that there may be some copyright issues with Afterburner since there are a lot of products by that name.
Angry_Gumball
So, the ride's now going to be themed after a jet farting? (The flames shooting out the rear of a plane).
Sunfire
There IS a God! Afterburn sounds a lot better than Flight Deck. I guess C.F. finally came to their senses about something. Now the next thing is to ditch concrete and use foliage for their parks. Good thing CGA already has lots of foliage from the Marriott and Paramount eras. Wes
Aw, and I was hoping they'd use the name "Inverted Coaster"--so precise, so succinct. Flight Deck: The Inverted Coaster would have been the most obvious, and best possible name.
Sunfire
^Defenitely. They might as well call it "Flight Deck, the upside down track ride." Wow, that just sounded really general public-ish.

Flight Deck: The Inverted Coaster would have been the most obvious, and best possible name. They could retheme the ride to a high-school English class and call it "Dangling Participle: The Ride." BeemerBoy
So, the ride's now going to be themed after a jet farting? (The flames shooting out the rear of a plane). Well, maybe my 7 year old nephew might look at it that way. The rest of us will most likely just agree it's a huge improvement.....even without the "er" (which I agree would make it a tad bit better). So do we get to take credit for this? If so, there's about 100 other suggestions I'd like to throw at CF.
Loco
Afterburn sounds so much better, even though I would like it better if it was "Afterburner" im not really complaining this time.

alpengeist04
Much better name. I'll give Cedar Fair a little credit here, at least they finally realized how crappy a name Flight Deck was.
ebl
Afterburn > Flight Deck. For sure. I'm not sure I understand copyright issues with "Afterburner." That's a generic part of a jet engine. It'd be like a copyright issue with calling something "Turbo." Eric

oriolat
So which name lasted longer, Knott's Great America or Flight Deck? I think it was Flight Deck. TBH, Afterburn sounds much much better than Flight Deck. Good move CP.
scruffy
Does SEGA still have the rights to Afterburner? I like this alot better than Flight Deck.
