From Screamscape:

2008 - Mega Wedgie - (1/16/08) Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom has announced that they will add a new waterslide this season called Mega Wedgie. The new slide will be located across from Hook’s Lagoon near Deluge and will be a large Bowl style slide where pairs of tube riders will descend down a 100 foot long tunnel that will drop them into a large 30 foot wide bowl where they will spin around until dropping down a small chute in the center that will deposit them in the splashdown pool.

I have checked the Six Flags web-site and it hasn't been official announced by them on their site yet. I know that Screamscape isn't a 100% reliable source, but I also heard this on one of our local radio stations and through work. Since this announcement hasn't been stated "officially" through Six Flags, I wasn't sure whether or not to put this in the rumor thread, so a mod can lock this if it is nessecary. I just thought I would bring this announcement to everyones attention as soon as possible.

If this is what they are adding, I hope they do allot of work to Thunder Run, Twisted Sister....twins, and t2 because most of their coasters suck. I might go back, but only for the water park.

The story is listed in every Louisville news outlet so it's legit:

I won't complain about any sort of new attraction, especially given how pathetic the water park was for so long, but I'd really like to see them do a little something with the amusement park. How about new trains and a paint job for T2? Or it's removal? I would take the removal of T2 the same as I would an announcement of a new coaster.

^ Agreed. Although I would have really liked to have seen a new flat ride added since several have been removed recently, I'm just surprised they are even adding something new two years in a row. Thanks for the newspaper link; I couldn't find one myself.

And I'm not so keen on the name either.

Now I REALLY wanna go since I've been dying to try a bowl...slide. With Deluge and a Tornado (They have one right?) and now a bowl, I'm a happy guy. And they have Penguin's Blizzard River too. Sweet!

Why did they choose this name?! Didn't Shapiro or whoever is the head of Six Flags get that name changed at another SF park?

I was a bit disappointed when I saw the title of the thread as I assumed from the name of the ride that it was just going to be one of those butterfly looking wedge slides.

Then I was happy to see that it's a bowl!!!

Yay SFKK! We had a great time last year, and can't wait to go back again!

I dunno about everyone but I like the names of this new attraction. It's funny and cool. lol

But it's been a while since they added a big coaster so they should focus on that next time. And now that they have one less flat ride they should add another tower i guess to make up for their ride loss.

I'm am SO happy to see this! I had already given up on SFKK getting something new this year, so this is a great surprise! Thank you Shapiro!

Can you tell I'm excited? haha

This is good to hear, they need to focus on the waterpark for now, get people's attention off the rides. Deluge was a great new waterpark attraction this past summer, that got over shadowed by a bad accident.

Mega Wedgie has now been announced on the Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom web-site! I really like the colors, too.

From Six Flags:

Kentucky's Largest Waterpark Splashwater Kingdom Set to Debut Innovative Water Ride:

Mega Wedgie

Louisville, KY - January 15, 2007 - Making a huge splash at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Mega Wedgie, an entertaining waterslide with a whimsical name, will offer park-goers a unique thrill only to be experienced at Splashwater Kingdom.

The exhilarating water ride will feature bright, alternating teal green and purple colors with a giant round bowl that's 30 feet in diameter! Guests will climb to the two-story platform where they will board single or double rafts and begin their descent down a steep, 100-foot long dark tunnel. As rafts accelerate through the tunnel, riders will be whisked into the bowl where they'll spin around the sides until they are funneled into a corkscrew center. From there, rafts zip down a chute into a splash pool located below.

Mega Wedgie joins thrilling new recent additions like Big Surf Wave Pool and Castaway Creek plus Buccaneer Beach; a splashy, interactive waterplay area for young children. Buccaneer Beach is the ultimate place for little ones as they experience a giant tipping coconut filled with water, an elephant and flamingo slide, gator, crab and shark squirts, plus palm trees that spray cool water on a hot summer day.

Mega Wedgie will be located across from Hook's Lagoon and near the award-winning water coaster, Deluge. The race to conquer this family-friendly ride begins with the official opening of Splashwater Kingdom on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, the thrill park, welcomes guests on May 10, 2008.

Six Flags, Inc. is the world's largest regional theme park company, operating 21 parks across the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
