Coaster Palooza Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I had the pleasure of meeting larrygator this week. He came out for a softball tournament at Twin Creeks in San Jose. Larry’s co-ed team made it to the Championship game on Saturday and won it! Larry was the pitcher. His men’s team also made it to the Championship game, but lost to a team that has won it 7 times! After the games, we went to Great America for some credit whoring. It actually only took us just over an hour to get it all done. I know Larry wanted to get back to see the LSU/Florida game and drink free beers. It was great meeting you and taking you around Great America. I hope you enjoyed Gilroy Gardens, SCBB, and SFDK on Sunday. Onto the pictures! YES!!! All 7 coasters at Great America in just over an hour. This was also on a Saturday. We arrived around 5:40 and I got him back to his hotel at 6:45. Great day. The sun is going down, can we make it? Number 5 coaster, just 2 more after this one. Yes, we didn't get on Taxi Jam. He thought that this is what they meant by riding the woodie at Great America. Now for the worst coaster in the world. A quick photo op at Survivor. Number 3 rollercoaster. Hey I fit...are you comfortable Larry? Next stop, let's see if I can get on this time. How was your second ride in the front row? Not busy, want to ride again? First stop. There was some good Halloween theming. Hey Larry, what do you do when you win a championship? Celebrate with the team, hell no, I have to credit whore Great America first. Big group hug. Champions! Final out, a comebacker to Larry to end the game. Second out was pretty tough. A fly-out to right field with 2 fielders converging. It was a great catch. First out in the bottom of the 7th. Larry's team is up 15-14. He had to tape up his leg during the game. and scored He actually got a base hit here. Larry pitching. Larry got on first in his first AB. They were arguing before the game over the volume of the British team's music. It was too loud. Larry trying to stretch out some pulled muscles. Onto Championship Saturday! Coaching 1st base. His men's team was playing well though. Larry's co-ed team had a couple tough losses. This was actually taken on Friday.
ParkTrips Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 ahhh Larry in sliding shorts and whoring a park in an hour. awesome. but seriously, WTF is he doing in the last pic?!?
ginzo Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 That's the correct amount of time to spend in any Cedar Fair park.
mcjaco Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I'm wondering if Larry's wardrobe consists of anything more than cut off sleeved t-shirts. Congrats on the win, Larry!
Bush985 Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Rick, you never call me anymore while your at the park. Did you guys check out the maze, or was it not open yet? Hope all is well. Give me a call sometime.
Big Mike Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 As I was reading your report on Larry, I admit I was wondering to myself that Larry does not look like an athlete to me and I cannot even imagine him being any sort of a power hitter. Then I saw the pics of his swinging bunts and I realized I was right. I would have loved coming up against Larrys team back when I was playing 5 leagues at a time, being the star unlimited arc pitcher, and cranking homers at will. We would have crushed his team and I would be going yard off of Larrys lame pitching every at bat. Maybe we will find a field and I will show Larry who is boss. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to put this report together, the report was actually very good, but I do have to admit that I did not appreciate you helping him raise his coaster count closer to mine. Congrats Larry on winning one title, but of course, if it was Big Mike, I would be coming home with BOTH titles. Peace, Big Mike
Coaster Palooza Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 ^^We didn't check out the maze. All we did was ride the coasters and get out. Kind of an all out sprint with Larry limping pretty bad. I was going to give you a call, but we didn't know when we would get to the park, or how long we would be staying. I should have given you a call on Friday, but I got pretty busy. Hopefully we can do Fright Fest at SFDK. ^The men's game looked pretty tough. There were a few errors that hurt them early and playing the 7 time champs didn't help.
larrygator Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 As I was reading your report on Larry, I admit I was wondering to myself that Larry does not look like an athlete to me. Hey kettle, you're BLACK! Some teams need slap hitters and excellent fielders. Versus fat men who hit homers but bat only .300. No way Big Mike could ever play 18 games over three days. Maybe you are confusing softball with competitive eating. After Great America I did make it to Gilroy Gardens, SCBB and SFDK on Sunday and got all credits to reach 502. Oh, maybe I should start a thread Big thanks the Rick for cheering on my team and showing me around. and also Carl, my UK and Spain Trip roommate, for driving me around Sunday and stopping at In and Out Burgers.
Big Mike Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Chicks dig guys that hit the long ball. Big Mike's List: Homer Hitter = Check Speed demon = Check Gold Glover = Check Star Pitcher = Check Above .500 average = Check Multi Time League Champions = Check Multi Time Tourney Champions = Check Figured I would take the time to set the record straight and also to congratulate you on your win and hitting coaster 500, but please do understand that 526 > 502 and Big Mike > Larry still! Peace, Big Mike PS - I would not start a thread for hitting 500 coasters being that no one barely even bothered congratulating you on your victory. Some guys get 10 pages, others get overlooked. See you in 2 weeks pal!
TexTitan01 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 ^ I think I smell a BURRRN! My boss over the summer was on a co-ed softball team; I thiink they did pretty good. He always got changed when he got off work, so I got to see what he wore. He allways had these crazy leg-high tube socks that looked like somethin from ronald mcdonalds closet
Coaster Palooza Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 We can't let Big Mike rip Larry like this. Come on people, SHOW LARRY SOME LOVE and congratulate him on the chamionship!
SharkTums Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I love Larry!!!! See you soon! We can push Big Mike in the pool!
larrygator Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 thanks Elissa I'm not going to get into a prolonged argument with Big Headed Mike Softball ability wise, I'm pretty certain that all Big Mike, and his extra 100 pounds, has on me is the ability to hit the softball further. And the experience of him being able to clean out the concession stand of all wares quicker than me.
BeemerBoy Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Big Mike's List: Homer Hitter = Check Speed demon = Check Gold Glover = Check Star Pitcher = Check Above .500 average = Check Multi Time League Champions = Check Multi Time Tourney Champions = Check Phone book shredder = Negative Fixed. I wouldn't bother checking for pine tar, but I think I'd have that stopwatch inspected. Congrats Larry!
cfc Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Congratulations on winning the championship, Larry--and my condolences for riding Grizzly (a ride that sucked when it was brand new). I think there's gonna be "rage in the cage" between Big Mike and Larry pretty soon. Mike, you would make an awesome bad-guy wrestler!
SharkTums Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 ^Yeah but do any of us want to see Big Mike in Spandex???
cfc Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 ^Hmm--good point. Mike must wrestle in cargo shorts and an oversize t-shirt with a map of Jersey on it.
larrygator Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 ^and he could have the Jersey Mike's sandwich shop chain sponsor him. Triple check that stopwatch!
Coaster Palooza Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 ^We don't need a watch, we have a calendar.
Big Mike Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 When we have our first annual Big Mike vs. Little Larry TPR Softball Game, Elissa has been assigned to your team Larry so I can beat both of you! FYI - Big Mike could paint the lines to either side of the field if a base hit was needed, not to mention taking off an opposing pitchers head with a line drive up the middle. AND.. I know for sure that no one can outpitch the master, 100% certain. Yeah, maybe I am not the speed demon of old, but at least I could make it through a few games without having to get taped up and hobble around the rest of the weekend! Can't wait to pull Elissa into the pool with me Peace, Big Mike PS - Chuck, I always wanted to be a villian wrestler, I play the bad guy very well lol.
gmoney422 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Good job, Larry. Congrats! BTW, way too many pics of softball in this report! 2 would've sufficed.
307 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Congrats, Larry! If only I could find a team around here...
Coaster Palooza Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 ^^I had no idea that there was a limit to the number of softball pictures that I could post. I will make a note. By the way, I had about 20 more pics.
Big Mike Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I'll come to that guys defense. I don't think it was too much softball pics, just too many pics of Larry. Peace, Big Mike
larrygator Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 ^about 21 more softball pictures of me than you have of any TPR women at waterparks
