Garet
Avengers: Age of Ultron SPOILER ALERT - Nice touch at the end, in credits, as to what happened to Hulk. We think. But......... purple? Hmmm... Sorry if I mis-read this but do you mean this post as saying that the purple guy was the Hulk? Because it's a different character named Thanos (that shouldn't be a spoiler by now), he was in the post-credits for Avengers 1 and appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy as well. He'll be the big bad in the two Avengers 3 movies but I wouldn't be surprised if he appears again before that. Although while on that subject, I fell like all this build-up over what will be 10 years by the time Avengers 3 isn't going that great to make Thanos the big scary bad Marvel want him to be. I saw Avengers 2 with some of my Korean co-workers and they thought Thanos was also a purple hulk or "that guy who sits in the space chair"
Nrthwnd
^ Sorry, I guess I should have clarified, that I have never read and or seen the comix, and know only what's been going on, by the movies themself. Sad, but true. Add to that, the fact I have a terrible memory (now) of such things. So many movies seen over the past years. It's become a blur of "what did he do before" etc. We argue about what we've forgotten, lol. So, it's not Hulk. Thanks for the correction, and the rest. I haven't read the comics either, and am only going off the movies i've seen and the names/press release of the next Avengers. That's probably why whenever he shows up I'm just like.......meh it's that guy again.
rosscoe
Tomorrowland Was never bored, but what a mess of a film. The environmental message comes at you like a 70"s Time Square hooker, and than just for shits and giggles a child gets hit by a car and ends in an awkward quasi paedophile moment. San Andreas I can't begin to tell you how stupidly entertaining this movie is! It's a mix of spontaneous clapping and random talking at the screen, just when you think they have hit the limit of stupid, it rises once again. Huge fun! Spy Used my favourite word, laughed out loud many a time, really fun evening.
azza29
^San Andreas was a fun ride. Standard popcorn disaster fare with a plot that doesn't exactly leave you guessing, but the dumb ridiculousness of it all is very entertaining.
SingleRiderCam
A few weekends ago, I watched Avengers: Age of Ultron and Big Hero 6 and I have my thoughts on both movies. Avengers: Age of Ultron Although I like the first Avengers movie more, this was still a good movie. The action was still great, but I thought that it was kind of confusing. Maybe it's because of the distraction of my stomach problems. Anyways, good movie, but it's nowhere near the first Avengers movie. 7/10 (Good) Big Hero 6 I first thought that this movie was going to be okay, but boy was I wrong. This exceeded my expectations with the story, the visuals, the characters, Baymax himself, and more. It may have its flaws, but it has to be one of my my top 20 favorite movies I've seen from Disney. 8/10 (Great)
Bag_O_Laughs
I saw Mad Max in iSense 3D at the Odeon and it was epic! If you like cars, action or Australian dudes dressed up weird then I would recommend 100% you go and see this movie. It blew me away. The action is so well done, the lore of the land is not explained, there is hardly any exposition which is great. As viewers we're allowed to use our brains to figure it out. The character designs are fantastic and the cars, omg the cars, they are detailed, extraordinary beasties. They should totally make a HHN out of this film, it would be amazing. I would also recommend seeing it in 4K or imax as it really does the move justice. 3D was meh, because i wanted to see it in 4k i had no choice but to see it in 3d too. Immortian Joe - Mediocre! gerstlaueringvar
San Andreas 6/10. The 6 all goes to the fantastic CGI. Just feels like they want to make it smart but ended up kind of funny-stupid. Come on, how can a student who asks if it's possible to have earthquake at CalTech even be allowed in CalTech?
scottiemon
I loved how The Rock would ask "are you hurt" and "are you OK" after everybody got some sort of injuries....and they always answered they were not hurt or they were OK. The theater was laughing out loud. I pretty much agree with a 6 out of 10. I went on Sunday, and all movies are $5 on Sunday. If I payed full price...I might not have been as happy with the movie. Purplepills
Maleficent Wife really wanted to watch this, its been on the rental list for ages and finally came this weekend. Whilst well done, it wasnt really for me. Wife loved it though. 5/10 Once Upon a Time in America This movie is 3.5 hours long. Normally I would avoid things this long, but I'm (very) slowly working my way though the IMDB top 250. As it happens, I loved this one, and could happily have watched it for another hour, it didn't feel at all too long for me. The plot jumps around a bit over a period of 50 (?) years. The makeup for the most recent scenes was excellent, Al Pacino looked basically like he does now. An excellent gangster movie. 9/10 The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel I thought I would hate this film. I'm not a huge fan of British comedies like this, but I try to be open minded with movies so will usually give them a go if they get good review. I actually really enjoyed this one. Its a nice, light hearted comedy, with a good (I suppose you might say charming) storyline. 7.5/
jray21
Went to see Tomorrowland a few days ago but the only seats available were the front row so we got stuck watching Spy. I don't really like Melissa McCarthy, but the movie was actually pretty good. Funnier than I thought it would be, and overall a decent movie. I also saw Mad Max: Fury Road, and really liked it a lot! Tons of action throughout, and definitely my favorite out of all of them. However, I don't remember seeing all the Mad Max's before so I re-watched them last week. Since they are pretty old, I don't think it's a fair comparison to the new one but I really liked the new one!
Purplepills
Watched Struck by Lightning today. One of those films where they show you the ending first, only in the one the main character dies...at the very start/end. Was quite entertaining really, not bad for a film on Amazon Instant! Quite often we seem struggle to find a 'good' comedy movie we havent yet seen on it.. 6.7/
jray21
Saw San Andreas and Jurassic World this past week. San Andreas was exactly as expected. Lots of completely over-the-top action. Decent movie, but nothing must see. Jurassic World was really good! It was a lot more like the original and was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend it. Meteornotes
My "I can't sleep so let's watch some crap on HBO or whatever" movie the other night was Fury. What a pile of crap. I'd say it's the worst movie I've seen in the last year, but it is going to be extremely difficult for anything to beat Django Unchained for the top spot. Still, it was bad. Boring, full of characters you just want to see die so you don't have to put up with them any more, and long sequences that do zero to advance any sort of story. Even the action scenes were not all that exciting. Don't waste your time. dt

cfc
Well, Mom wanted to go to the movies yesterday; naturally, she wanted to see a geriatric "rom com" called "I'll See You in my Dreams." Just couldn't talk her into "Mad Max: Fury Road."
Woodie Warrior
Saw Inside Out on Saturday. Definitely the best Pixar film since Toy Story 3. I'd give it an A or A-. It's very refreshing and original, with plenty of jokes, but also some sad scenes. I never cry at movies, and Inside Out had some moments that almost made me. The animation is extremely gorgeous as well. If Good Dinosaur turns out to be half as good as Inside Out, Pixar will be back on a roll (although personally, I enjoyed Monsters University, Brave, and Cars 2). The only thing I didn't like was that there were a few plot holes (nothing major), and the fact that we didn't get to see some of the emotions as much as Joy and Sadness. I do think a sequel will happen (come on, one about Riley leaving home and heading to college would be heartbreaking as well), so maybe they'll focus more on the other emotions next time around. Side note: Lava was hysterically bad. I was cracking up at the cheesiness of it all. Animation wise, it was stunning, but the song's lyrics ("I Lava you") combined with the storyline was just too much for me. The singers were pretty good, though. rosscoe
Wasn't a fan of Inside Out, not really sure there was anything wrong it, it just left me meh... The animation in LAVA was stunning. Minions, opened across Australia last week, what a strange little film, it has no idea what it wants to be. Some laugh out loud moments, but sadly nothing special. Meteornotes
Since it's the 40th anniversary, Jaws was shown in theaters over the weekend. Of course I went! I love this movie, but haven't watched it in a very long time, and it was a lot of fun to see it in a theater again. I did not know this until the movie was over, but Deena had never seen it before. She loved it. As all humans should. Afterwards we went for sushi. Because they totally relate. dt
