I am going to the magical world of Disney Nov 3rd thru the 10th. I thought I had done a good job of avoiding any large events and holidays, however do my dismay I read about this "Jersey Week" over at mousesavers.com. Has any one ever been during this time? If so can you give me some insight into the crowds and what I might be up against.

Thanks in advance!!

Like Matt said, Jersey week sucks. Not only are there large crowds, but they can be quite rowdy and "unpleasant."

Good luck!

I am afaird to ask, but what is Jeresy week?

Is it where people wear nothing but Jersey's ?

Does the state of New Jersey all visit at once ?

Does it have something to do with Cows and Farming ?

Does it have something to do with Deserts ( as in Jersey Caramel )

As you can see i have no idea!

Matt and Rob,

Thanks for the update, my stomach dropped when I read them but thanks anyway.

Are the crowds worse than in the summer? Am I looking at 1.5 hour lines or 45 min lines.

This sucks I really thought I did a good job of planning to AVOID these crowds.

Again thanks in advance for your input.

I'd only go if Springsteen was playing! As a rule of thumb, not much good ever comes from combining the word Jersey with anything.

I hate to say it, but this is one of the handful of times I'd never plan on going to Disney.

Ugh, you pretty much just want to stay home and far away from anything the New Jersey people would do during Jersey week!

On my cruising message board they actually had to delay several of the cruises for the week after Jersey week since the nasty NJ people pretty much trashed the ships!!!!

Again, we're not talking Summer or Holiday Crowds, but it will feel that way with the 'level' of some of the clientele.

*Note, I'm not stereotyping ALL of NJ people...they do a good enough job of that by themselves!*

Paul, if you can change dates, I would. Especially if you haven't been to WDW in awhile. It's not the ideal time to visit.

That's not to say it won't be fun (can it not be fun at Disney?), just prepare yourself.

Can someone explain just what Jersey Week is? I can't find much of anything about it online...

I'm only cutting and pasting this because you got rid of that eyesore of a signature that used to be displayed.

It was pretty easy to go to mousesavers.com and search the phrase "Jersey Week". You should be able to do that yourself, but like I said my eyes are grateful that you changed your signature.

"Jersey Week" - Usually the first or second week of November. The New Jersey schools have a teachers' convention (upcoming convention dates: November 8-10, 2007; November 6-8, 2008). Lots of people pull their kids out of school for the whole week and add on the weekend before and/or after, taking this opportunity to go to Disney World in the "off season." New Jersey is the single biggest market for Walt Disney World -- you do the math!

Guy's thanks so much for all the info. Well I guess i'm in for a long week with a bunch of Jersey folk. But it will be alright, I will use my hopper passes and extra magic hours to make the best of it. You can bet for a really intresting trip report upon my return i'm sure.

You know I honestly thought of going that week in 2008. I had no idea there was a Jersey week. Looks like I’ll go some other time.

When I go away I like to get away from New Jersey.

A ton of Jersey schools are out for a random week. Lots of people vacation during this week down to Florida.

Paul, don't be intimidated by Jersey Week! Honestly, we're not all bad. In fact, what you'll find is a very diverse group of people, very cultured and rich in pride for their state. Jersey gets a bad rap. And despite the obvious bad taste for the Garden State by this site's mods, they're always welcome here too, if only to drive through so we can take their toll money.

I can tell you whats gonna happen now. When you get to Downtown Disney be VERY cautious on how you drive because, if this is one of the BIGGEST groups that come to disney, then your going to have LOTS of traffic. And dont be very courtious when letting people turn, because when you do that, the WHOLE lot of folk will be going, and flicking you off if you dont let them, some people are crazy in Downtown Disney, or ummm the city before the Disney exit with all the tourist shops and what nots.
