Swoosh Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Preview below, see all of the photos here: http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/gallery/parks/at/ I didn't get it Mine train = fun It was fun, but I wanted more Coaster come back! FUN TIMES Coaster go down the hole! Mad House in a castle -- moving on. blah blah corkscrew blah blah Was a little underwhelmed by Rita, I guess I was expecting more power in the launch -- still a fun ride though The theme was great -- the caverns were great -- Nemesis was great Couldn't get enough of this inverted, I wish they would build one like this in the US Fun flying coaster, but my favorite is still Tatsu Such a pretty park -- love the garden area
jarmor Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 From just reading the majority of captions on here sounds like you didnt enjoy yourself...
Swoosh Posted May 31, 2007 Author Posted May 31, 2007 No, we actually had a great time. I think my problem is that I have ridden so many coasters that I have started to become jaded. Also I'm not a big fan of Mad Houses, but the location of HEX did have a plus. Wonka was just weird though, there is no way around that.
Axman Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Didn't Corkscrew used to be yellow? It's whiter than Eminem!
Swoosh Posted May 31, 2007 Author Posted May 31, 2007 hard to tell, it seems everytime you turn around it has a new theme
alanjonesbath Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I think Nemesis has to be one of the best themed coasters anywhere. Great coaster, and the proximity to the scenery makes it a great ride. Corky is still yellow on the bottom half, and green/brown at the top nearer the tree line.
Nrthwnd Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 ^ Where the above land height restrictions actually worked in "it's" favor, bwah - ah - ah.... Loved that beast back in June. My my, has it nearly been One Year already from the first TPR Tour to AT??? Of which I was so lucky to be a part of ??? Nooooooooooooo. Thanks for the TR. Great stuff.
redfoot12 Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I would love to go to Alton Towers some day. Nemesis looks like the real thing.
project? Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 were they not supposed to build a wooden coaster? they had plans for one Here in 2005 but it never happened. There is rumor of a small family woody for next year.
AstroDan Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Which won't be happening. The latest rumours for 2008 are an enclosed Eurofighter on the site of the old Black Hole. It's all rumours though. Nice photo's. Hex is a work of art!
Swoosh Posted May 31, 2007 Author Posted May 31, 2007 Yes there appeared to be some work going on around Black Hole
Goliath513 Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Back in 2002, I think it was, I remember hearing a rumor about a 2-inversion B&M floorless coaster to replace Corkscrew in 2008. Has anyone else heard this?
AstroDan Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Back in 2002, I think it was, I remember hearing a rumor about a 2-inversion B&M floorless coaster to replace Corkscrew in 2008. Has anyone else heard this? Unfortunately I haven't heard this. Corkscrew will be remaining at Alton Towers for a few years yet, although obviously it nearing its time. The park will want to sort out the Black Hole tent and potentially a wooden rollercoaster before they do anything else, I would have thought. The Merlin takeover could be changing things though!
Nosferatu Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I must say AIR is starting to look pretty good now, with the plants and trees:)
verticalzero Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Megafobia style family woodie for 2008 Corkscrew should get scrapped or moved to a different place in the park, Rita is getting costaphobia and needs to have some "Maverick" inversions added.
Swoosh Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 I agree a Megaphobia woodie would do well at this park
Danzaw*nk Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 e latest rumours for 2008 are an enclosed Eurofighter on the site of the old Black Hole. It's all rumours though. Will be interesting to see how Merlin do compared to ex-Tussauds . Great TR and includes some great photos. Don't worry, Charlie is terrible. They tried improving it this year but still, half the effects never work! It is a terrible ride and I honestly can't believe they spent several million on it. Hex is fantastic! Brilliant piece of art. Glad you enjoyed your day though, nice to see people enjoying my favourite UK park Dan
Axman Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 I wish they had built that "Alton Bahn" coaster back in 1991. It was going to be one of the longest coasters ever; built by Schwarzkopf. The model reminded me of Lisebergbahnan.
