Cedar Point Expedition TR: May 13/14, 2007

Recommended Posts

Regarding the TTD drop: I guess the spinning motion off-sets the drop somehow. All you really feel is if you're racing down to the ground really fast (which, obviously, you are).

For comparison, I guess, after you ride: Think the first part of SheiKra with a sudden twist. SheiKra's drop almost feels longer, too, IMO.

I have heard that it pushes you back in your seat because it is falling so fast, but I can't imagine it.

that would be great. im not a big free fall rider myself, but i recently Xcelerator at Knotts. i had nothing but airtime/lifting out of my seat on the way down the top hat. with TTD being at least 40mph faster, id love to experience those G's

When did they shorten TTD? Or did they make Sky Hawk taller?

Well, I could be wrong, as I've never been to CP, but I do know a bit about photography...and to me, it's most likely just a perspective thing.Because Sky Hawk is in the front and you don't know how far back TTD is, so it's probably just a camera trick. Bands with members of different heights use this trick all the time. Look at any picture of Sevendust. The singer is 5'5" and the bassist is 6'4", yet in their pictures the singer looks nearly as tall as the bassist.

I've ridden both, and it's not that much of a difference, in my opinion. It's the same feeling, only, since dragster is taller, it lasts slightly longer.

looked like you had a pretty fun time over at CP. I really wish I could get onto those coasters over there but I can't even get onto Excelerator at Knott's Berry Farm but I am on the way down and once I do lose that weight I am going to CP and adding a lot of coasters to my coaster count.

Just got back from Cedar Point, a great two day trip.

They were testing Maverick the entire second day I was there, and to be honest, I'm not so upset that it wasn't open. It doesn't look nearly as good as I expected it to be. Perhaps I'm just a first hill snob, but the first drop is smaller than the height you get on Skyhawk, and it doesn't go that fast. Perhaps it's going to be something you have to experience...Part of me was pissed that they were running it all day, it was like flaunting the ride in our face!!!

But, I did get to sit front seat for Dragster, completing one of my life goals. BEST 20 SECONDS OF MY LIFE!!

^Lol, well i'm glad you had a great CP trip...I sure did and part of me is still upset for leaving early..as the park closed at 7pm on my trip days of May 13th & 14th....We ended up leaving at about 3pm because were rode all the coasters from 9am to about 2:30pm and we were still tired from all the riding the pervious day...I miss Millennium Force!

Thanks for the comments eveybody...I appreciate them all!

I miss Millennium Force too, even though I LOVE LOVE LOVE dragster, there's something about writing MF and doing the first drop with your hands in the air and keeping them up the entire ride. It's like, the most incredibly ALIVE feeling that there is! Alas, my life in Ontario rarely matches anything even remotely resembling that high! Thanks for the pics to remind me!
