BarryH
Source: http://www.local6.com/news/13102809/detail.html SeaWorld Worker Accused Of Threatening Va. Tech-Type Massacre At Theme Park Co-Workers Say Man Idolized Va. Tech Shooter POSTED: 2:21 pm EDT April 25, 2007 UPDATED: 8:39 am EDT April 26, 2007 ORLANDO, Fla. -- A SeaWorld employee was arrested on Monday, accused by sheriff's officials of saying that he "was going to do what happened at Virginia Tech here at SeaWorld." Gilbert Alexander Garcia, 20, of Orlando, was arrested and charged with threatening to throw, place or discharge a destructive device and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. According to an Orange County Sheriff's Office report, a co-worker said in a statement that Garcia told her on Sunday that he was serious about the threat and would shoot everyone because he hated SeaWorld. Garcia was also accused by another co-worker of saying that the victims in the Virginia Tech shootings deserved to die because "they made the Korean guy feel like a loner." Garcia said he was going to shoot people in SeaWorld, and that he would be remembered for it nationwide, the report said. Garcia also stated to a co-worker that he wanted to kill himself and showed her a BB gun and a baseball bat in his car, the sheriff's report said. On Monday, Garcia was escorted to a security office at SeaWorld where he was informed that he was being investigated for the threats. Garcia admitted to officials that he told co-workers that he idolized the Virginia Tech shooter and wanted to shoot people but said he was only joking and had no intentions of following through, the report said. A search of Garcia's vehicle uncovered a paintball gun, several baseball bats, emblems of vehicles and a baton, the sheriff's report said. Two hours later, a co-worker recorded a phone conversation between herself and Garcia in which he allegedly stated that he would get revenge and blow up SeaWorld by dropping a bomb from a helicopter, according to the report. He also allegedly warned her to "stay out of his way" and "to duck if she saw an AK-47." The recording was taken into evidence, the report said. SeaWorld released a statement, saying: "The safety of SeaWorld employees and guests is our highest priority. We have zero tolerance for threats of violence. "As soon as we learned of the individual's comments, we took immediate action. He has been terminated and barred from entering SeaWorld property. The matter is being investigated by the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "We have appropriate security policies and practices in place, and our parks are safe for both visitors and employees. To maintain the integrity of our security procedures, we do not comment on them publicly." Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.

IceDragon
Barring him from SeaWorld doesn't mean to say it's 100% safe... Even after he's been released. It's sad to see how people can idolize a mass-murderer and threaten such an innocent place. Not only will staff be harmed/traumatized, but kids as young as 4 could be caught up in it... Gah! It's a horrible, horrible world we live in...

Loco
This same exact thing happened last week at my school. A student called the school and threatened that he was going to do the same as what happened at Virginia Tech. The kid is locked up right now but it's still pretty scary. Calvin
Oh, cool, now the school districts have a reason to stop bullies. And he'd better not get his grubby mitts on Kraken. D:<

snuggles
^"You just wanna screeeeeeeeeeeaaam" In all seriousness, this is pretty screwed up. Now everyone is threatening to do a VT style massacre. At my brothers school, somebody said they were going to shoot up the place like "at virginia tech". All the schools in the district went on lockdown, and the S.W.A.T team showed up to escort kids into cars and buses. I know if they probably got their jollies from putting that much fear into peoples lives for a day, and that is pretty screwed up. It seems like now its cool to want to be a mass murderer, but it is just stupid, and you would have to be insane to idolize a killer. I think from now on, anyone who even says that they are going to shoot up some place should be put into an asylum for a while.
XII
He hates Sea World, So he's going to bomb the place? Wow, thats just sad. Killing inoocent guests and employees just because he dislikes the place? Thats just sad. And did he claim the people Virginia Tech deserved to die because they made the Korean feel like a loner? Wow, that is really bad. Glad that jackass is where he belongs.
okinawaboy11
What the heck?! This also happened at my school too. I was in class and my teacher wanted us to write letters to VA Tech with our condolences. My teacher walked up to this kid who's paper was blank and asked him "You don't have any feelings towards this tragedy?" He replied "No, those people all deserved what they got, they all should have died" My teacher immediately reported him to the office and they arrested him that same period. It sucks sooooo much how horrible this world is coming to. Now if this were to happen at SeaWorld? Sheesh thats just a shame.
FlyingScooter
This is just wrong. The similar threats have occurred at several cleveland suburban high schools. Today there was a threat found on a bathroom wall at a local college. the older I get, the less I understand.

Scaparri
I campaign that we just give obviously crazy people like this a life sentence in a mental institution. I'm serious. I'll take the tax hike. I don't care. People are friggin' crazy.
Corkscrewed
blow up SeaWorld by dropping a bomb from a helicopter LMAO WTF?!?!?! From a HELICOPTER??? We don't have to worry about people like him. They're both crazy AND idiots. Don't think he'd be able to pull something like this off. But I'm glad he's locked up.
Chrissie
OMG!! I can't believe this. This is totally crazy. I don't understand why people are sort of like "cashing" in on this tragedy.

CoasterNut17
You know, nothing happened at my school regarding threats, but on May 1st we are having a first ever "lock down" drill just in case. Better safe than sorry! Still, at Seaworld? It's like the Virgina Tech Massacre gave all the mental people out there an idea that it was cool to kill people. Scary! I don't know what's worse; the fact that we've gotten to a point to have a "lock down" drill, or that teachers need drills to practice locking a door. I don't care. People are friggin' crazy. Yeah, this country was deinstitutionalized long ago. Involuntary psychiatric commitments are totally out of vogue now, unless the patient has actually become violent. I agree that these copycat idiots need harsh treatment. Perhaps a return to some arbitrary police brutality is in order. Cho seemed like he never got the ass beating that he desperately needed.
