I give it a season and a half if this is true. One season for it to rip itself to shreds, one off season for Cedar Fair to haphazardly retrack the completely obliterated bits, then a small chunk of the next season before they realize it is too far gone and say screw it.

^I never had much problem with the restraints, the trains are just so light that they are easily thrown around and tear up the track. Also, the seats arent very padded.

If this is true and if the trains are only modified to be able to run on the track, then I won't be riding. I don't mind the G trains on Twisted Twins because it's a small sized ride and they are ideal for it. The trains are too small and cramped for me to ever consider getting in for Son Of Beast.

Seriously. I have not only heard that they are going on SOB, but the ENTIRE track will be modified to accomodate them.

Don't shoot the messenger, this is just what I have heard.

I have not only heard this, I've seen the pics. I trust the source.

I bet its all BS. Screamscape's source may be laughing their @$$ off right now.

Sorry. It's true.

I give it less than 2 years. Then it goes the way of Psyclone!

Good riddance.

If they're going to have to re-do all the track, why don't they hire GCII to install millennium flyers? I'd say that's the best hope for making SOB not suck. Of course, they might not want to go near this mess!

If this rumor is true, CF has hit a new low, and ought to just give up on woodies. They seem to do OK with steel.

What? How is any of that remotely true?

I can see how heavy trains (Psyclone's B&M trains) can do that, but light coaches tear up the track? If anything, lighter coaches create less wear and tear on the structure.

Nice double post. Anyway, it's not so much the air, it's the lats. Your knees and legs bash into the bare steel bar and it doesn't feel too great. The Gtrains bar is basically (though I'm judging from photos, please correct me if I'm wrong) as the Vekoma setup. SOB has lots of quick banking transitions and lateral moments, so both bars would (or are) going to be bad for this ride.

I also believe the Premier trains had a similar bar (besides the wedge), but I'm not sure.

The Gtrains are fiberglass so they aren't very flexible, so they do tear up the tracks. Really any wooden coaster train is a lose lose situation, in some way or another. The only company that seems to really have it down is GCI, as they make their trains actually turn through corners rather than slide through like all the others.

Remember though, the roller coaster is designed around the train (structure, track shaping), not the train around the coaster. That will be a big factor with these new trains.

I couldn't believe that this ride was that horrible but after seeing the Psyclone comparisons I guess its a pretty safe bet . I'm usually not one to judge trains or coasters before I get on them so based on looks I think the G trains look pretty cool. (Obviously looks are not everything).

My heart goes out to you Son of Beast, who knows you might have been treated better under Six Flags

The seats on the Vekoma trains are amazing, like couches. Of the three woodies with Vekoma trains, Thundercoaster is the only one with that kind of lap bar and its NOT padded at all. It can hurt your knees quite a bit. The other two though has T-bar restraints which looks alot more comfortable.

Oh, and I dont think Vekoma trains would work very well on SoB. From what I have heard, they are pretty damn heavy and they have destroyed Thundercoaster (fortunately its still running awesome in the rain). GCI has already started retracking parts of it....

The trains would need a lot of "padding" to help the passengers survive the circuit.

I have been on SOB once, while holding the bar my hands went "numb" at the bottom of the 1st death helix. I loved the loop.

I would ride it again if I visited KI, I still think this is the wrong design for a coaster, it belongs in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.
