I heard about this a few days ago before there were cases in my county and I know alot of people know about it already. As of yesterday all Taco Bells in the area were closed down. It started with 39 cases and recently it jumped up to over 40 spreading across PA including a coulple in my county. They think the green onions could be responsible, which are from a grower in Socal (where the Spinach that sparked the e-coli scare earlier this year were from). They keep closing more down, but how long until it spreads until they close down all of them in the northeast? It seems like a pretty widespread area right now, is anyone here still eating Taco Bell or boycotting it for a while until this passes over? Im not sure if all of these are permanent closures are not ( a few are already ).

Heres a link to a newwer story btw:

Ok, its updated CT, SC, and UT as well and over 55 possible cases, which means its now not only contained to the northeast US. 11 so far are extremely serious cases with more dangerous strains of e-coli which could cause kidney damage. The green onions are still possibly linked and chances are it wasnt the meat. At least there hasn't been any deaths so far, 3 died last year if I remember. I might be hesitant about eating at TB for a while though, too bad they got a monopoly on fast food tacos around here as theres not really anyone else.

I'm not eating Taco Bell for a while. I like the food but it's not worth taking a chance on getting sick. There's always Baja Fresh (though I find it a ripoff compared to Taco Bell even though the food is higher quality)

Taco Bell is disgusting. How can you distinguish e. coli poisoning from the standard Taco Bell vomiting experience?

Personally I'm not surprised. When I was a wee lad we went to Taco Bell regularly. Then came our infamous Unfortunate Chalupa Incident (which I won't go into detail about ) Only a few months ago did we start going again. We stopped again due to the poor and unsanitary conditions of the restaurants. In the last one we visited there were only three people working (and one of them was standing there doing nothing). The ice machine had mold on it. We aren't going to a Taco Bell ever again.

I miss Chichis.

Kinda hard to boycott something thats closed down...

And if its open, why not? Im quite sure that they will quickly track down the sources and then find out which stores would be affected as well as the area and shut down. Im here in Toledo Ohio and TB's are still operating as normal...

I meant if any others are still open across the country and everything, I heard all of them up here are closed, but that was before the ones down in Utah and South Carolina.

Can you really boycott something that's out of their control? It's not like they grew the green onions....
