ginzo Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 So this morning I decided to make a late attempt at getting a Wii. Attempt 1: I left the house at 7:45 AM, and arrived at Target at a little after 8:00 AM. I saw people walking out of store with their Wiis, and discovered Target was fresh out. No big deal. Plenty more stores to hit. Attempt 2: I see a big line at Circuit City across the street, but I decided I don't want to wait in the cold. So, I drive to Walmart. Bad move. They opened at 7:00 AM. All gone. Attempt 3: I drive back to Circuit City, and notice the line is shorter. Apparently, in the time I took to go over to Walmart, Circuit City had already given out their tickets and dispersed the line. Had I just gotten into the line directly after leaving Target I could very well have a Wii right now. Attempt 4: I drive over to Sam's Club, and get in line. They open at 10:00 AM, and it's 8:30 AM. After 10 minutes or so of waiting, an employee comes out and gives out tickets to claim Wiis when they open at 10:00 AM. But, they only had 5 units total. I wound up being THE ONLY ONE IN LINE TO NOT GET A WII. The guy in front of me wasn't even a Sam's Club member. He was signing up just to get the Wii. Crap. Attempt 5: I race down to the Florence, KY Best Buy, averaging about 85 MPH. Supposedly, this Best Buy has 50 units, which means I have a decent shot at getting one. I get off the Florence exit on I-75/I-71S at roughly 9:00 AM. There is hope. Then I realize I have no fricken' clue where Best Buy is in Florence. I proceed to get more lost than I've ever been in my life. I spent roughly 30 minutes racing around nasty Kentucky backroads, feeling pressure on my colon from last night's White Castle. I get on the highway, and drive home defeated. Attempt 6: I talk to a friend on AIM who tells me that the Toys R Us by his house is a great place to get new consoles. He tells me a friend of ours got his XBOX 360 there without problems at the launch. Nobody goes there he claims, and he'll pick one up for me. I call up to Toys R Us at 10:02 AM, 2 minutes after opening. Sold out. They have no idea when more will be in either. All-in-all, I'm not too mad here, except for the part where I was completely lost in Kentucky. I hate Kentucky. I'm just glad I didn't get up at 5:00 AM. There are supposed to be 4 million units shipped by the end of the year. I imagine I'll get one this week some time.

vjgx Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 People laughed at me when I said I was going to Target at 3:00 AM... But I did, and got one! Sorry that you didn't get one.. But good luck with the next shipment!
ginzo Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 What's wrong with vagina's?! Lots. Why does everyone want a Wii!? Cheap and fun.

Chase Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Why dose everyone want a Wii!?Because they are the Cheapest Next Gen Consoles out so far.
NitroRider Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 and the PS3 is supposed to be $600 I think! My brother and dad left this morning at 9:00 to go to a store at the mall that doesn't open until 11 and an hour ago they said they were behind 15 people after being number 66 in line and they said it was going slow. Doesn't sound like fun but i get to stay home and play Halo!
BiCoastal Kid Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 What's wrong with vagina's?! Why dose everyone want a Wii!? I think I'm the only person who actually got this....
steel Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 ^Nope, I picked it up too. Thank God I'm not alone. It was really funny, too.
Blazen_AZN Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 People laughed at me when I said I was going to Target at 3:00 AM... But I did, and got one! Sorry that you didn't get one.. But good luck with the next shipment! AT the target we went to, at 7AM, only FOUR people in a GAINT line were denied a Wii. I got there around 4:30-5AM and i got one too. #76 out of 117 units, i believe. It was pretty fun, even if i was there alone (it was a last minute thing, so i didn't bother to bring friends.

Why in gods name would you drive all that way out of your way and not know where to go?? That is extremly silly if you ask me!!
the sound Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Why does everyone want consoles on the first day they com out? Why not wait a week or two when no-one wants them as much anymore? Much smarter in my opinion.

Usually big stores like Best Buy are right on the main drag. Had I stayed on the main road I would have been fine, but I started making turns and totally screwed myself. Haste is not speed.

PhishyBrewer Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Failed again today. Wal-Mart and Target a no go.

Much smarter in my opinion. Because when you get one before everybody else, you are automatically infinitely cooler than everyone else, the graphics look that much better, and the games are that much more fun. I think.
mr_teisco_delrey Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 ....and you can show your family how great you are by braving the odds of getting beat up or shot.

I'm not a big fan of Ohio either, but I don't think NKY residents have any room to knock Ohio seeing as they all work here. If their state were so great they could find decent jobs there.
Primogen18 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 um... why dont you call these places before going there lol, i mean, im planning on visiting a crap load of stores... via my phone... so i dont like, you know, waste gas and all that stuff, specially when gas is all spensive nowadays. Call, be like "yo you got Wii, you don't, ok" better then drivin' there and finding it out. If you call a store that has one, just ask them to hold one, they most likely will for about 30 mins to an hour so you can get there and grab it.

It was basically a mad race to get down there.
FlyingScooter Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I thought Ohio sucked donkey balls???
