SharkTums Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I have Dania Beach Hurricane in my top 15! BTW, Thanks for helping out the Mac people Wes!
mr_teisco_delrey Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 ^^ Vi in the terminal? Voyage took the cake for me this year.
niiicolaaah Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Thanks Wes, it worked. Another #1 vote for Balder is in the books! (not that my lovely count of 30 wood coasters will affect it much)
thomas2 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I've only ridden 2 woodies and one of them was Coaster Express so my #1 vote immediately goes to Weerwolf
PKIDelirium Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 ^ Shift+Apple+T changes the TXT to plain text format in Text Edit. I did that, and I still gor an email from Mitch saying it was messed up. Best bet on Mac is to just paste the ballot directly into an email, apparently Windows can't read the txt files correctly.
niiicolaaah Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 ^ I've got Balder at #4. What?! I know what your ballot looks like: 1. Mean Streak 2. Minebuster 3. Ghoster Coaster 4. Balder You silly Canabian!
Carnage Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 lol no Mean Streak, Minebuster, and Ghoster Coaster are all FAR down my list. In fact Mean Streak and Minebuster narrowly made it out of my list of rides that I put behind the kiddy coasters. (Beast, SoB, Predator). My list starts off: 1-Voyage 2-Thunderhead 3-Hades 4-Balder Though it all makes sense once you see my sensation order: Out of Control Feeling/Directional Change,s_,y,y,1 Lateral Forces___________________________,__,y,y,2 Sensation of Speed_______________________,__,y,y,3 Abrupt Airtime___________________________,__,y,y,4 Positive G's/Loops_______________________,__,y,y,5 Floating Airtime_________________________,__,y,y,6
Cameron Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Emacs all the way .. comes free with MacOS, too! Cameron.
Carnage Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Funny how Macs are so elite and yet they have problems performing basic text operations.
PKIDelirium Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 They don't have problems. They just use a different text character encoding, making it sometimes tricky to share .txt files between Mac and PC.
mr_teisco_delrey Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Funny how Macs are so elite and yet they have problems performing basic text operations. Just the app, not the OS. And now we return to regularly scheduled coaster poll thread.
griffon Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 So, help me understand this... how is this poll the "*ONLY* coaster poll that really takes everyone's opinions into consideration and gives fair and accurate results."? I'm not saying its difficult, but it seems a lot more complicated than it should be. It's just a poll.

ginzo Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 So, help me understand this... how is this poll the "*ONLY* coaster poll that really takes everyone's opinions into consideration and gives fair and accurate results."? I'm not saying its difficult, but it seems a lot more complicated than it should be. It's just a poll. Because the other polls just count raw votes, which means that only rides at massive parks like Cedar Point win. Rides at parks like Liseberg are at a serious disadvantage, because they just don't get the number of visitors and consequently the number of raw votes needed to rank high. Your votes only affect rides that you've actually ridden, which means that you can't bring down the ranking of excellent rides that you just haven't gotten to ride yet. It's really not that complicated. It took me 15 minutes. And, I've never done it before.
robbalvey Posted November 4, 2006 Author Posted November 4, 2006 So, help me understand this... how is this poll the "*ONLY* coaster poll that really takes everyone's opinions into consideration and gives fair and accurate results."? I'm not saying its difficult, but it seems a lot more complicated than it should be. It's just a poll. Agreed with what Ginzo said. It goes beyond just a simple "check this here if you like this ride" type of poll. Which is why it's more complex, and its does NEED to be! For example, a poll like the ones here could ask "What the best coaster in the world" and 100 people from Ohio who have only ridden the Beast all choose "The Beast" could instantly make that ride come out on top as the "best in the world." This poll avoids BS results like that. And like Ginzo said....it's really not the complicated. There's an "idiot's guide" to help you out...and if you can't follow the idiot's guide....well then....we can't really help you out there! The other option is simply don't participate...but then you have no voice of opinion when the results come out. --Robb
larrygator Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Mitch's explanation of how it works Here is a good explanation buried in Mitch's site

griffon Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Mitch's explanation of how it works Here is a good explanation buried in Mitch's site Cool, thanks for the info. The explanation through the link above is good. I've just never heard of anything like this before. Pretty neat
roasted_marshmallow Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 My sister and I have voted now. Good stuff.
disneyfan1313 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Woo-Hoo! That did not take too long at all... I can't wait to see the results this year!

itsme102 Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Just finished voting. That Poll helper was alot easier.
