robbalvey
http://www.screamscape.com/html/universal_orlando.htm New Wet ‘n Wild Attraction - Rumor - (9/28/06) A reader tell us that they recieved a flyer warning them to visit Wet ‘n Wild soon to “Say goodbye to old friends” because they will be removing the Hydra Fighter and the Blue Niagara slides to make room for “the greatest ride in Wet ‘n Wild history” which will open in Spring 2007. This is a bummer as the Hydra Fighter was a very cool, unique water attraction. It was VERY low capacity and from what I understand not open very often. Glad I at least got to do it once because it was REALLY bizarre!!! --Robb

bdstrom
Whoa, I am feeling very lucky at this moment because I got to ride it once. I loved this ride... right now I'm having a flashback of me riding it with my buddy. *sighs* good times! I am not exactly surprised that they're removing this ride... the line can be pretty nasty and there are plenty of people who do not understand the law of physics. As I stood in the line, I could see plenty of people struggling to make it swing while both sides are spraying waters. “the greatest ride in Wet ‘n Wild history” Hmm, we'll see about that. R.I.P. SharkTums
I'm guessing a Tornado Slide.
bdstrom
I'm guessing a Tornado Slide. At first I thought of Master Blaster. Then you mentioned a tornado slide. Then it dawned on me that they have Disco H2O (pic below). Since they said it'll be the greatest ride in Wet n' Wild history, then it has to be better than Disco H2O! Unless they're lying. SharkTums
I think that the GP would not even think that a Tornado and Toilet Bowl were the same. When you think about the area it's going into, I'm not sure it's suited for a Master Blaster. They seem to 'leak' a lot of water, and if they're not getting rid of the two straight down slides I wonder how that would work. Keep in mind Proslide has LOTS of cool Tornado slide options on their site that we haven't seen actually built yet! If it is a Master Blaster, eh...hopefully it will live up to Crush n Gusher! DerekRx
I'm sad to see Hydra Fighter go, it was a really unique attraction. Hopefully its replacement is super awesome fantastic! Its gotta be something great though if its going to beat the Star Wars music in the Black Hole! "Star Wars....its a good MOVIE...its really GROOVY...its got special effects!" bgwfreak
Well that answers what "Hydra Fighter II" was at Wet n Wild Emerald Point (name wise). I always wondered what Hydra Fighter 1 was. I think HFII was just being ripped out recently as well. Glad I got that credit when I did!
Screamomatic
You know what would be cool? If they combine the Toilet Bowl and Tornado slides together in the same course! I would imagine it'd be a slide into the bowl, then it exits the bowl and slides down some more and then enters the Tornado, then exits into a pool. okinawaboy11
^ That would have to be one really high bowl to then drop down into a tornado.
Screamomatic
Yeah, think it'd either need to be very, very tall or built on a big hill... but it could definitely be done, but it's probably not what there getting.
timetrial3141592
I believe that Proslide is tinkering with a double tornado. It says so on their website.

Having never ridden any of these uphill waterslides, any of you have any comparison opinions on the zipcoaster/conveyer belt uphill launches that Proslide and Whitewater have used versus NGBS water propulsion? The conveyers seem to use less power and don't have the leakage issues either. Regarding extended Tornados, Funtown/Splashtown USA will be the first that I know of to have some additional slide after exiting the funnel portion. I'd love to see one of these with more than one funnel and an extended tube section between them. -Mark

lilspike333
My guess is it will be one of Proslide's take on the Master Blaster, the Rocket Slide. These slides don't leak like the Master Blaster because there is a trough that catches the excess water. The one at SFNE is wicked fun and provides some pretty good air. The conveyor system works pretty well, but at SFNE it seems to have quite a bit of down-time. The acceleration and deceleration can be a bit jarring because the belts in essence catch you and then have to regain enough speed to launch you over the hill. ECZenith
^ SFNE's typhoon is my favorite waterslide so I'm hoping it's one of these. Too bad they're removing one of those cool corkscrew slides though... I haven't seen them anywhere else but I'm sure they're out there.
