Slingshot!

I finally did it! I rode a ride called "The Slingshot" at my state fair! You get launched straight 150 ft in 2 seconds. It was so awesome! Have any of you rode a ride like this? If so what did you think?

lol.. I LOVE slingshots.. But I HATE to pay for them.

I rode the one down in Myrtle Beach Friday night. And I have done a few others. I did PKIs last summer with a friend who had never been on one. Fun stuff.

I also did the 100meter one at Prater back in 2004.

Closest to a slingshot I got was riding ThrillShot (Old saddle pods) at SFMM. That was actually quite a rush it's self.

Ive ridden the sling shot at SFStL and to be honest, I think that it is a complete waste of money. Sure its a good thrill, but it only lasts a couple seconds while your screaming towards the sky, the rest is just boring bouncing around. I feel the same way about skycoasters, the thrill is only there for that initial drop, then its boring. I understand that these things have to be up-charge to keep lines short, but I dont think I would pay to ride either one again.

I rode the Slingshot at Old Town in Orlando back in February. Either side of Gwazi had more kick than that Slingshot did.

Yeah the slingshots never really did anything for me. In fact, I think I preferred the old school bungee versions because at least then you knew there was a good chance of your death!

 

The new versions just seem very smooth and controlled.

The best one IMO is the sling shot in Morey's Pier, Wildwood. That thing is huge and much better than Eruption.

I did the one here at Magical Midway... 360ft supposidly...

 

I also did the one at Old Town, but the one at Old Town didn't flip at the top, we did get some awesome airtime though

I absolutely love going on2 slingshot rides, so far i've been on 6 of them (most of them at my home park in Vancouver, Canada) but in my opinion there's an even scarier thing u can do and it's in Nanaimo, Canada. it is called the Ultimate Swing, basically take a regular swing and supersize it, it's 143 ft above tera firma and they push u off the bridge and u go from 0-140km in about 1.5 seconds! it is by far the scariest thing i have ever done in my entire life! if u want 2 c it go on2 this website www.bungyzone.com and be sure 2 keep the volume down if u watch this at night 'cause the music on the site is pretty loud.

^ I saw one of those on The Amazing Race once. Looks like a lot of fun. Anyways, Slingshots look freakin awesome. I've always wanted to try one along with skycoasters. Too bad I didn't get the chance to go to Old Town and ride both of them.

i've actually been on a skycoaster be4. if it isn't over 150 ft. don't bother with them, they're not even scary, if u want a real scare, go on2 the 1 at Old Town and whatever u do, don't look down! hahahahah.

Personaly I think that slingshot rides are better than Sky coasters, but thats just me! I dont think either one of them are a waste of money, but I would pay anything for a good thrill!
