EftelingGal Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 What!!!! No pictures of our German Pavillion Friend, Hattuchili.
USRoadTripper Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 APPLIANCE DIRECT!!! I miss the Appliance Direct commercials...but I miss the Family Auto Mart commercials more! Great stuff when you've had a little to drink! -Julie
mcjaco Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 What!!!!No pictures of our German Pavillion Friend, Hattuchili. Yeah, where's Expedition Soren???? This is a great PTR. Keep it coming! I've got officially 14 days until I'll be there....
RCTfan Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I can bet you'll find a bigger sundae at the Beach Club restaurant Beaches-n-Cream. The Kitchen Sink. ACE'rs delight. Great TR. Keep the fun coming!
Calvin Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 "So long, and thanks for all the fish." GIGGLEGIGGLEGIGGLEGIGGLEH2G2REFERENCEGIGGLEGIGGLEGIGGLE Oh, and I love the photo of WDW from Mt. Everest. Good god, WDW really is huge. And I also love the little cloud next to the big Epcot golf ball.
Schmoofy Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Bleh, I'm such a noob. Can you explain to me *how* to get onto the "secret" pathway to Tomorowland? I've searched for it a few times on previous trips, and could never find it. I must be really stupid.
MrMorgan Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 ^ I'm curious, too! By the way, this is one of the funniest PTR's I've seen in a lonnnng time. Very clever captions.
JT3000 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 The "secret" path goes from behind the boat in ToonTown to Space Mountain. That cloud in the Epcot update bears a freaky resemblance to Figment.
dandaman Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 ^Why didn't I think of that? (It was opposite the Imagination pavillion) The pathway can be accessed to the left of the Tomorrowland Arcade, facing SM. From Toontown, it's just to your left once you exit the train station. Oh, and Expedition: Soren is coming in due time... Dan "Try on Sunday!" Smith
PKI Jizzman Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Very nice pics! but some were blurry....OMG! That looked like the REAL Jonny Depp! Looks like an awesome trip! I hope I can go really soon....
dandaman Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 Day 10: The House that Walt Built Well, since I’ve already “broadcasted” from here, I think I’ll head straight for the photos from here to the end. Elissa's friends say hi. (Tomorrow or thereabouts... Epcot, and Expedition: Soren! I promise!) The only two shots that turned out relatively decent… but that’s my fault for not turning on the flash. How's it goin', Dan? Medium filet mignon with cream cheese mashed potatoes and beef demi-glace… awesome. Despite 11 trips to WDW and 1 stay here, I’ve yet to actually find that five-legged goat. #$@! Exclusive… 3-IN-1! Tonight shall here forth be known as… Steak Night! Concourse Steakhouse’s filet mignon officially rocks. First, some Contemporary photos. Why did I take this again? For those of you who hated the mirror... here's what it looks like now. Funniest moment: “Ladies and gentleman, allow us to introduce ourselves…” ...To which the other band members turned to each other, shook hands, etc. The Main Street Philharmonic! These guys were pretty funny. So this was pretty much my typical counter service meal every day. Can't go wrong with chicken fingers, 'specially with a large orange Fanta, and awesome chocolate cake. (Hi Dan!) Cacti... BEHIND A TREE! “Thar’s gold in them thar hills!” Decided to hop on the train at Toontown, partially because Soren's first American credit wasn't open yet. Have I already said just how much I love this pathway? Space Ranger Spin was next… 642,000 points! In your face, space coyote! (And here's a blurry shot of an HM for a placeholder. Yep.) Very few people realize that distant worlds have trees, too… I think that if I’d flown any lower on the Astro Orbiter, I likely would’ve severed my head… yeah. ...And so was this. I guess the powers that be are helping me make up for my crappy night shots. Even more exclusiver than usual! (Actually, this was one of my better shots, IMO) Nifty trolley show.
Luxo Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I thought this said "ROTFLSANDWICH" Superb PTR, I especially like your pictures of Big Thunder Mountain.
dandaman Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 I thought this said "ROTFLSANDWICH" Superb Photo TR, I especially like your pictures of Big Thunder Mountain. You do?... I didn't even think twice about them! ROFL to the ROFL, too. Dan "It'd be hard to hold a sandwich when you're ROFL'ing" Smith
pianojohn Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Day 4: Two in the Busch It was kind of an American music revue/stage show, but it was a very nice production. Thanks! That is one of the shows I vocal coach. It's called AMERICAN BEAT at the Desert Grille, soon to be replaced by the Christmas show, Emerald Beat (from BGW) and then American Beat again!
dandaman Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 Day 11: Rediscovery As promised, I’ve finally (and eventually) posted the last “official” day in the parks… and boy, what a day it was. Once again, I’ll try to let the captions speak for me. (Though I’m typing them anyways, so does that even make any sense?) Existentialism has never worked out for me. (Neither have Internet promises, evidently.) Here’s where my whole day was turned from “pretty good” to “best day ever”! I proudly present to you... SOREN! [And some weirdo next to him who looks like he's had one too many rum-laced soups] My dessert was quite good, too… I thought it was peppermint on top, but it turned out to be white chocolate. But this, THIS is what I’m here for: The granddaddy of all filet mignon steaks: medium with maple barbecue sauce! (Evidently, granddaddy's quite small compared to his relatives...) I chose for my appetizer what many people seemed to hold in the highest regard: cheddar cheese soup. It sounded a bit weird to me, but I ordered it just the same. It was... weird. Good, but weird. Maybe it's an acquired taste? The Solution. The Problem. Now this is what I'm REALLY in Canada for! Nice hotel view. (We met up with some friends for an hour or so at Yacht & Beach) Jolly old England! (And just then, a chav ran up, knocked me down and stole my stuff.) We all have totem poles, too. Mine's just in the shop. Honest. "Oh, Caaaaaanada, La-la-la-laaaaaa, laaaaaaaaa, LAAAAAAAAAA!" (Please, for the love of God, I hope someone out there gets this reference.) "Fermez la bouche, Mangez poutine..." "With beaver pelts, and bannock bread, [intermittent delay]" "We look to America! We're close to the North Pole!" Time to sing the Canadian national anthem! "Oh, Canada! A great big empty land..." " 'PINBALL WIZARD!!!' " I still find it funny that I can buy 5 of those Aero bars at home for the price of one here. Heh. YES! Epcot finally has a credit!! For the chaps overseas: do the following photos remind you of your everyday, stereotypically English life? Les Photos D’Arts But I LOVE this one. Probably my favourite trip shot. I like this photo… "If you try to beat me at Taiko Drum Game, I will pound you from here to Canada!" Wonder how much this frame would go for at Wal-Mart. Artsy Japanese shot time! (Or, how to quell boredom when waiting for your parents to come out of the department store) Hey, Japanese rabbit... POUND IT! (Dude! Pounding goes all the way back to 1920!!) It started to rain shortly before meal’s end… Pfft. I'm in WDW! I don't care! For some unknown reason, this ice cream tastes better than most, and like chocolate ice cream should: like FROZEN FUDGE! The finished product: filet mignon with some weird sprout thingies that I didn’t eat. Filet was great, though! I’ve never really liked Asian food… don’t know why. (Save for maybe chicken balls and those crunchy Chinese noodle things.) However, I’d come back to Teppanyaki 10 times more, just for the brought-to-the-table entertainment. Though I don't really like sea It’s America. Um… yeah. Exclusive shot! Spaceship Earth, ALMOST SANS WAND! (See? Trees are good for more than through the tree shots.) …And then there’s Canada. @#$! Italy... Sorenland... Some random boats… China… I still can’t get over how well-themed everything is here. Mexico… Had Teppanyaki reservations at noon, so I took the Friendship to Japan. Now it's time to play "Find the Good Tower"! One can only guess what I rode next. Bring back Dreamfinder!!1!!one Another Land artsy shot... even worse than before, IMO All right, the only reason I included this photo was because I have NO idea why the hell I'm making a Robb face! Honestly, could there BE a worse picture? (Oh, yeah, and the rodents say hi.) Ate breakfast at Sassagoula. They made me chocolate chip pancakes on the spot! VERY good. (Breakfast sausage... meh.) Aah, the New Orleans morning stroll… nothing like it.
ParkTrips Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 yay a Soren sighting!!! I agree about the resteraunt in Japan, I dont like that kind of food at all but that place ROCKED! Great TR. - Joe
mcjaco Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 We have a saying where I'm from: "Awesome." Great PTR. 10 1/2 days until I'm in WDW myself.
dandaman Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 ^^Yay indeed to the first, agree with the second, thanks for the third. Dan "First one to get the Canadian 'anthem' reference wins the satisfaction of accomplishment!" Smith
dandaman Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 We have a saying where I'm from: "Awesome." Great Photo TR. 10 1/2 days until I'm in WDW myself. Funny you should say that... We ended up spending most of the vacation with a family that we knew, who had never been to WDW. The youngest (though I'm only about a year his senior), his catchphrase of sorts was, "Hey, 'member ______? That was AWESOME!" Hope you have fun. Where's your hotel?
DarkStitch626 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Great TR but when the heck did you get to Dollywood HAHA!

My parents bought into the Marriott Grande Vista timeshare which is about a mile west of Sea World and a five minute or less drive north to WDW itself. If they don't use it, they shove it down my sister or my throat to use the time...curse my bad luck!
cfc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Good stuff--you sure gave your camera a workout. I'll be hitting BGA for the first time myself next month.
stingrock23 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Nice trip report. I really need to see more of World Showcase the next time I'm there.

Good stuff--you sure gave your camera a workout. I'll be hitting BGA for the first time myself next month. Have fun, and don't forget to ride Shakira for me! (Only for me. ) Nice trip report. I really need to see more of World Showcase the next time I'm there. Any amount you see of World Showcase is usually never enough. ] Thanks for the comments, guys! I'd be wrapping this up today if I didn't have a football season kickoff to attend to.
rbpia Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Thanks for an amazing trip report. One of the best ever. Now I am really pumped for my trip the last week of October. 7 days in Orlando and 1 day in Tampa only 25 days away! rbpia "Food & Wine Fest and Soren, here I come!"
