coasterdude5 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I got an attraction survey the other day and one of the three attractions was creating a new area that would include the Zippin Pippin, which now sits at the defunt Libertyland. I thought of this yesterday: has anyone seen the new Tennessee commercials with Elvis and Dolly in the same car? Could that have been pointing to this deal? I hope they act fast because Zippin Pippin has to be off its current location by January 2007.
knottslover77 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I forgot what that is, dang I'm stupid. --Jay
Scaparri Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 That would be pretty sweet. Is that what she says at the end? Something about taking the Pippin? I haven't really heard it very well.
coasterdude5 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Zippin Pippin, the ride that is always said as "Elvis' favorite ride". 70 ft. tall 40 mph had some good airtime in the back Not the best picture, but it was taken from outside the park.
knottslover77 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 That would be great for Dollywood! --Jay
jasper2 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 They are riding in a cadillac and she says next time lets take the pink one.
BarryH Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 The Elvis and Dolly Parton commerical has been running for a long time now.
ECZenith Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 That would be awesome. My brother went to the "311 Day" concert in Memphis and the arena literally overlooked the Zippin Pippin. He said the ride still looked like it was in decent shape and it was a shame the whole place was so dormant...
coasterboy76 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 would have been cool to ride on it- looks like it might be fun
jamesdillaman Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Where would they put it? Wouldn't this take a larger area of flat land? -James "just wondering" Dillaman
Electerik Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 ^ Where Rockin' Roadway is now, I suspect. Which I wouldn't be too happy about.
jarmor Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 ^ oh uh! lol lol I too was wondering where it would fit in that area. I do hope dollywood doesnt move that ride.
alpengeist04 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I would rather they wait a year or two and add a brand new coaster, but that's just me.
jarmor Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 A new coaster wouldnt mean a better coaster.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 If my grand mother were still alive shed KILL to ride Zippin Pippin
ECZenith Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 ^ Why, was she an elvis fan or something? Or did she just really want to ride it before it closed?
alpengeist04 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 A new coaster wouldnt mean a better coaster. True, but I'm going by Dollywood's past history. ...Mystery Mine looks like a good one and we know about Thunderhead, so I'd take my chances.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 ^ Why, was she an elvis fan or something? Or did she just really want to ride it before it closed? GIANT elvis fan.
jamesdillaman Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I'd hate to see Rockin Roadway go. It adds a lot to that area of the park IMO. With so many parks taking out their car rides you do worry, however... -James "Not another car ride loss " Dillaman
thrillerman1 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Who says Rockin Roadway and ZP couldn't coexist?
Holtskee Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Rockin’ Roadway is sandwiched - to the left is the creek, at the top is a maintenance road and the railroad track, and to the right is the entrance road. The Rampage is immediately across the creek. The car ride was apparently designed to make the most of that space by looping around and over itself. I don't think Zippin Pippin could be squeezed into that area with Rockin' Roadway left intact.
Bk1870 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 That ride ALWAYS has a HUGE line...its horrible. I've never ridden it and I've been to dollywood about 15 times... For them to get the Zippin Pippin...that'd be NICE and NEAT but idealy...probably not. And I'm sure they have the land. Not flat land, but they have it.
thrillerman1 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Yep Holtskee I know how Rockin' Roadway is laid out. I also know how Zippin Pippin is laid out.
Guy T. Koepp Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 It would be awesome for DW to get two coasters in two consecutive years. I don't think they'd try and put in two in one year. I could be wrong, and have been on many occasions.
