stingrock23 Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 How bout Charlie Weis wearing Tressel's sweater vest? Way to get overmatched again, OSU. I didn't get home till 6 am yesterday and I still don't think I'm fully recovered.
Jew Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Why does Jim Tressel have to make scrambled eggs on a plate? Because if he used a bowl, he wouldn't be able to beat them.
slither37 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 ^ Ha Ha very funny. Tressel is still very much liked here in Columbus. Of course if he loses another bowl game....'off with his 'ead. I did not see Charlie Weis wearing a Tressel vest. I would have thought they would not make those vests that large. Speaking of coaches. Great job this season Charlie! As a person that follows Navy, it was a great year for the Irish. LOL
stingrock23 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 What do Ohio St., Notre Dame and m-----ana have in common? They all get smoked in bowls Edit: I didn't know if this was appropriate or not, so I changed it.
Jew Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 Bumping this thread with signing day upon us. So far they are saying ND might have the #1 class. Can't figure out why...but hey, they might double their win total with all that talent!
mcjaco Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 ^ Ron Zook is proclaiming his class at Illinois is the best he's ever recruited. Football in central Illinois might finally be coming back. What is this Weis' third year? I should hope he'd start getting some highly rated classes.
BeemerBoy Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 So far they are saying ND might have the #1 class. Can't figure out why...but hey, they might double their win total with all that talent! With Weis as a Belichick disciple, maybe ND's offering a better film program than USC now? And as far as The U, I'll take the #6 spot for now. It's just so tough putting a lot of stock into these rankings of high schoolers. The reports always look so good, but can be so deceiving.
coaster05 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Notre Dame stole Jon Tenuta from Tech How did we steal you guys were dumb enough to not make him head coach. How long did you expect him to stay? All three of Weis's classes have been ranked in the top 10, although this one is by far the best. course it won't mean crap if he jerks them around like he did last year. The thing I am most happy about is that they all stayed together, after every hater within 2,000 miles of the Bend siad they will drop off because of our awful season. I guess these kids are smart because their is definately playing time available. BTW the best news of the day was a second verbal commitment in basketball for the 2009-2010 season. Woo Hooo
Hercules Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I'm just very upset that Penn State isn't anywhere near the Top 25. The only good news is that Pryor is waiting to make his decision based on a visit to Penn State.
larrygator Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 ^ Ron Zook is proclaiming his class at Illinois is the best he's ever recruited. Football in central Illinois might finally be coming back. Zook can recruit, too bad he can't coach.
BeemerBoy Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 And as far as The U, I'll take the #6 spot for now. 1. Miami (FL)12 ESPN 150 prospects Well, the day just got a little better. I guess we'll see how these pan out a few years from now.
stingrock23 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I don't put too much stock in these rankings. We'll see how it all plays out. As long as you've got a top 10 ranking, you're getting really good talent. It all depends on the coaching.
Jew Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 ^Exactly. Some of a teams best players always end up being the guys who were "only" 2 or 3 star prospects. And on the flip side, there are "5 star" guys who turn out to be busts. HERE is Rival's rankings. HERE is Scout's.
Jew Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 ^Speaking of Alabama (and Miami): how did they end up with 33 recruits if the maximum is 25? Do they expect people not to qualify? Walk on? Or am I interpreting the rule wrong?
CoasterGuy06 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 For Bama: Two enrolled early and actually count for last years numbers (down to 30) One has a good chance of going high in the MLB draft this summer (29 if it happens) There are a couple with grade issues, and a couple they will gray shirt and enroll as part of the 2009 class if needed, so ultimately Alabama will be right at 25.
slither37 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 OSU has a good class of recruits this year, some real gems for the O-line, hopefully enough to make Pryor become a Buckeye.
slither37 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Time to bump this up for the upcoming college football season. I still hate Notre Dame. I am hoping for a 0-12 season, but would be ok with ND beating Michigan. Ken O-H-I-O

The only good news is that Pryor is waiting to make his decision based on a visit to Penn State. How did his visit with JoPa go? Just kidding. I like Penn State, glad that Pryor became a Buckeye though.
Jew Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Could this be the year the BCS is finally busted? Between Utah going undefeated, the BIG XII not looking so hot anymore, the PAC-10 going 5-0 in bowls, Alabama getting owned while the rest of the SEC has looked pretty good...it sure would have been nice to have playoffs or a +1 system in place.

Yup, i am officially boycotting college football even though USC is good and LA doesn't have an NFL team.

It's really a shame no system in place. There are enough good teams this year that would have given us some really good matchups. Unfortunately, attendance and ratings continue to rise, so there's no pressure for them to change anything. In other news, looks like LSU finally found it's quarterback. I was hoping they'd win, but I didn't expect that beatdown. ACC, meet the SEC. It's too bad Bama's loss takes a little luster off the SEC's good bowl performance. I gotta say, the Pac 10 has impressed me with their bowl season. They've definitely played much better than the Big 12 so far. I have a feeling Texas will be the only top Big 12 team to win its bowl game.
