WillMontu Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I was able to go down to BGT today with Erik Johnson. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Waits were generally short, even for Gwazi, so we were able to get front row rides on Montu and Gwazi (which wasn't that bad). SheiKra had a 10-15 minute wait, but we had Platinum passes, meaning free re-rides on the major rides. We hit all the coasters except Cheetah Chase (which had a long line and I already had the credit) and Congo River Rapids (which gave us a good soaking) Also, SheiKra is partially built over an employee parking lot, so I guess it is considered a parking lot coaster. Here you go Derek Free beer? No thanks More construction for Howl-o-Scream As much of a splash that this ride creates, it is still Dan friendly. Here some more coaster porn, this one of SheiKra I've had it with these mother#$&*ing snakes on this mother$%&*ing pole! You could win a bike, an XBox 360, or a big screen TV, but where's the industrial strength meat slicer? It's almost as much fun as filing papers What happened to the second train? Anyone else think this spells out "Joe"? Time for Scorpion Here is the fabled mist sprayer. Yes it does hurt! Kumba is still running well 13 years later This IS an acceptable amount of water! This isn't an acceptable amount of water Python - Through the tree! Here's some coaster porn for those who enjoy it Is this a sign of things to come? Don't leave me! It was closed, but only for the rain You won't get very wet on THIS flume ride Is this an acceptable amount of water? Guilty as charged! Looks like he's been to too many ACE buffets I found a park map on the floor in the Smokehouse. I can understand paying $2.50 for a Coke, but this is rediculous Here's one for Julie We were on the last train on SheiKra before they closed the ride down due to the rain. We went to the Smokehouse for food. Sideloop! I hope there are Millennium Flyers under the tarp (although most likely it's just wood) The Japanese Cloaking Devices were in use here too. Gwazi actually dueled once or twice (not shown in this picture) Hey Casey, can you throw Ryan in the fountain He's even got his own video Only on TPR Mandatory picture of a donkey's behind No signs of life from Akbar's Adventure Tours. Looks like it will be a haunted house for Howl-o-Scream Another coaster shot No POV. No caption Those Japanese Cloaking Devices have made it to the US Random coaster shot Here's a first: A picture of ME in my trip reports. Maybe it will actually make people read them. I hope we remember where we parked Busch Gardens charges "only" $8 for parking. On the other hand, you don't get poster sized maps either.
Erik Johnson Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Actually parking is now $9. Thanks for posting these.
TheStig Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Here is the fabled mist sprayer. Yes it does hurt! I told you guys it hurt! Nice PTR, sorry I couldent make it but I had some plans. Erik Johnson Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Here is the fabled mist sprayer. Yes it does hurt! I told you guys it hurt! Nice Photo TR, sorry I couldent make it but I had some plans. Man the park looked dead compaired to a week ago when I was there last! Well let me know when you guys are going again so I can make plans. Colin C Yeah, I did not last more than three seconds with the sprayer, I thought it was going to make a hole through my finger...ouch!
jamesdillaman Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Great Photos. Sheikra's "splashdown" is actually an effect, right? It doesn't look like the side of the train ever hits the water. -James "Sorry if I'm an idiot, but wasn't sure" Dillaman
Golfie Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Lol, Erik! This has got to be the weirdest picture of you: Anyways, great TR! I loved how you tore scorpion off the map... gave me a good laugh. I hope I can get back to BGA next year again! Andrew "I LOVE Busch parks!" C. Edit: Great Photos. Sheikra's "splashdown" is actually an effect, right? It doesn't look like the side of the train ever hits the water. -James "Sorry if I'm an idiot, but wasn't sure" Dillaman Yeah, two tubes hang into the water and shoot water up. It slows the train down a bit, too!
Top Thrill Dragster Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Great ptr, do you by chance have any photos of Sheikra's station?
ebl Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I miss BGT/A. And even though I'll only be 90 miles from it in October, I most likely won't have time to go there. Next time! Eric
Erik Johnson Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Great Photos. Sheikra's "splashdown" is actually an effect, right? It doesn't look like the side of the train ever hits the water. -James "Sorry if I'm an idiot, but wasn't sure" Dillaman There are two large cylinders on the bottom of SheiKra's train that go through the water splash down. That is what causes all the water to splash up and over into the walkway. You can see photos here of the spalshdown: http://www.themeparkreview.com/orlando2005/memday/bgt/bgt1.htm
ECZenith Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I can never have enough SheiKra pics, nice TR! We are not worthy of this B&M masterpeice!!
pkdcoaster Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Man, it sure was dead for a Sunday! whats up with that? I too would like to see a pic of Sheikra's Station if you have it JEFF
pkdcoaster Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Thanks Wes. I see what people were talking about now with Sheikra's trains having that bar people "stand" on while on the holding brake. Seems like Griffon's trains will be much better (as long as they do not have major problems with the floor retracting in the station) How many trains does Sheikra have? and do they load 2 at a time? TIA JEFF
goleafsgo Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 i dont know what you mean by standing on the bar. when i was there last week, nobody was standing on the bar before the drop...
SharkTums Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I'm pretty sure Sheikra has 5 trains, although I've never seen them run all 5. They can load 2 at a time during busy times, but most often I've seen them only load 1 since I go there when it's not too busy. As for the bar, I don't think I could reach it when I tried to kick it! But I agree it will be nice to lose the bar! Although, that will mean we'll need even more moving parts in the station to make sure people don't fall forward!
pkdcoaster Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 i dont know what you mean by standing on the bar. when i was there last week, nobody was standing on the bar before the drop... It was brought up in the Griffon Thread that people on Sheikra support their weight on the drop on the safety bar "cheating the thrill" But Griffon will not have this bar. JEFF rotate 90 degrees and he is "standing" on the bar
bgwfreak Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 personally this is one of my favorite shots I've ever seen of Sheikra. The mist...the food...the umbrellas! Ohhhhhhhhhhh I can't wait for Griffon.
cfc Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 It was supposed to be Tamprica. Can you get "Chicken Tamprica" at the Smokehouse? Well, Will, I read your TRs--your pics are usually great, but perhaps you should try "pounding it."
coastakid Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Anyways, great TR! I loved how you tore scorpion off the map... gave me a good laugh. I hope I can get back to BGA next year again! He tore off Python, but anyways, nice PTR and hope to get back there to ride SheiKra
WillMontu Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 ^Acually it was Erik who "accidentally" tore Python off the map
Stuart-J Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Nice pics, cant wait for busch gardens in october, Orlando 2006 oh yeah!
