Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm sorry I haven't been on in a while but I got some info from work. So I was talking to some employees and a security guard at admissions for possible valley fair rumor information. Here's what I got, They said the markers are for a renovated gate and parking area, There are also rumors floating around that there will be a new lane for drop offs. As for the water park expansion, subway will probably be torn down and most employees think the expansion will be from hydroblaster to excalibur. Thats all I got for you guys but Ill keep my eye out for markers at work. And do we have a date that you can spill the beans garyman? The suspense is killing me already

I did not see any markings when I went Saturday and I gave it a pretty good look on foot as I parked at he back of the lot by the booths. Do you know exactly where they are? Take a picture if you can and share. To expand the water park and then create a drop off lane for parents/kids make so much sense it is borderline genius. I bet they sell a lot more season passes if parents know they can drop off and pick up the kids with ease and forget the hassle of going through the parking pay booth. Thanks for the info! Where do you usually work in the park? I will stop by and look for you to say 'hey' next time.

Just checked out the City of Shakopee's building permits to see if any were for Valleyfair and 'water park' construction but did not find anything yet. There is a permit for the new Haunt building being built north of High Roller and also a permit for a demolition of a 20 by 16 garage. I wonder which garage they are talking about? Is it one they removed to build the new Haunt structure or is it a maintenance building over behind High Roller or next to Renegade? Any ideas anyone? And if you do a search for building permit SH072333 you get the one for the demolition of a garage. If you click on the detailed links they tell more of what is happening, value of the project, etc.

It can all be found here: https://epermits2.logis.org/search.aspx?city=sh

Just use the drop down menu to search by road and choose Valleyfair Drive and all results will appear. Or you can look up by permit number as with the garage demolition under SH072333. Hope to see some water park permits soon.

For the water park expansion. They could take out Mad Mouse and relocate it up in front of the park and tare down the amphitheatre to make room for Mad Mouse there's plenty of land space for Mad Mouse up there and relocate enterprise move it over by were the old tilt a whirl use to sit by Wild Thing would be a perfect spot for enterprise there's nothing there but land and they could relocate the ferris wheel put it were the old scrambler use to sit and relocate the looping star ship put it over by the corkscrew lots of land there and were Mad Mouse currently sits they could tare down Subway and the old seating area and the six games area right by Mad Mouse could be taken out because I hardly ever see any people use those games could expand that whole area for the water park and were Mad Mouse sits put a Tornado slide right there plenty of room plus were Hydro blaster was that could be the new entrance to the water park because I don't think people would want to walk far to get in. They could make a new walk way around the water park leading towards Renegade use some of the parking area behind were Mad Mouse sits for a walk way. If they relocate Mad Mouse to the front of the park and were those six games areas are and Subway is and the old seating area were the old log flume use to be they would have a whole lot of land space flatten it out for the water park.

I did spot a red circle with an x through it between the dining patio and the old imax space. I wasn't able to get a pic because I can't use phones at work unless I'm on break

I saw something similar to that when I was at the park in early June, except it was white, as shown below. I don't know exactly what it's for, but I guess it has something to do with the waterpark expansion.

I saw that again on Saturday too, it has been there for over three weeks because it was there the last time I visited. It is red but just like the picture above of the white one. It is right in front of the big swinging service doors that the maintenance guys use to enter the water park in between the former IMAX and the dining patio. Red markings usually mean it is for power lines, either existing or new ones. Those orange painted dots around the park sure disappeared quickly, I could not even find a shadow of one on Saturday.

Do you think we'll hear official announcements about Haunt soon? Knott's is announcing theirs today, and I'm impatient xD We're 45 days away, and this time last year we were witnessing construction and things were being announced, but there's nothing yet.

When Valleyfair announces something, they seem to like to announce it out of the blue (example: Route 76). There might not be an official date for Haunt announcements, so just hang in there for now.

Hi, first time poster here, I read earlier in the thread that VF could get a Windseeker-type ride (which I would love), but that was let go do to the height restriction. I found that at Adventureland park, there is a Windseeker that is only 260 ft, so it might still be a possibility, however I wouldn't expect one anytime soon.

I also happened to notice that Carowinds, a fellow Cedar Fair growth park, is announcing 2015 plans on August 21st, This could help us understand what “growth park” means to Cedar Fair. I doubt that we will grow as much as Carowinds (I have heard rumors about a new giga for Carowinds 2015), but nobody really knows the future of Valleyfair.

I have also heard rumors that they are going to put dolphins in the wave pool, which means the revival of the Skipper and Dolly show.

Plus there might be another trash can in the works over by Steel Venom!

I can't stress this enough, the height restriction doesn't encompass the entire park.

I assumed announcements were usually made in August, but Valleyfair doesn't appear to have any sort of pattern.

That is something I don't understand, if the height restriction doesn't encompass the entire park (I'm not arguing that it is or not), why wouldn't they build Power Tower somewhere else? Maybe they did it so they could say that the height was set from an airport, which makes it sound really tall. Free marketing: Courtesy of the FAA!

Sorry to rain on anybody's parade but the orange spray paint markers aren't for expansion, they mark trashcans. How do I know this? I'm park services and I just found out today. That doesn't mean much though

Wait, was this sarcastic or does Cedar Fair actually have a specified color of spray paint just for trash cans?

Nope completely true. I'm not sure if cedar fair has the same colors for trash can markers but the orangish lines that are around 5 inches long are for trash cans

Thanks, next time I'm at the park I will look for these markers to plan for future expansion! I hope there is a couple more in store for the Route 76 area.

Haunt display is up!

That has been up for a while. I was there on August 1st and saw that, maybe it was there before that. I'm not a Haunt person, I have not been or want to go to Haunt, but I think the display looks cool. Any more updates on that building behind High Roller? IMO it looks fairly temporary. Maybe it's really a greenhouse, I doubt it but it's a possibility.

EDIT-- looking back I see the concrete, I just saw those metal beams from high roller and they looked fairly temporary from what I could see.

^^i heard its a permanent haunt building

That's a rumor that hasn't been confirmed, but I am pretty sure it has something to do with Haunt.

It pretty much has been confirmed. VF has filed building permits to build the structure, have fire sprinklers and running water plus sewage to the building with the permits having London Terror Building as a description. Putting all that effort and money means it is probably a permanent Haunt building. You can find that here by using Valleyfair Drive as the road in the drop down menu and then hit search. https://epermits2.logis.org/search.aspx?city=sh

I looked at this site and I found that they have a Sewer/Water permit issued on 8/4/14 for the London Terror. I am now convinced it is permanent.
