NYTrojan
^ I can beat you on that one. Waited 3 hours for Psyclone opening year. Line stretched out all the way thru the switchback(where deja now sits)back out up the hill to Roaring Rabits entrance I've spent over 2 hours for Psyclone. With all the switchbacks and that winding path through the trees... I remember seeing an advertisement for next year's Yosemite Sam Sierra Slide on the TVs they had in line about 15 times in that line. I will say this, the ride seemed a lot smoother back then. Maybe it was just that I was younger but I swear it was a great ride back then. By the end though, I wasn't sad to see it go. Kind of an interesting topic: What's the longest time you've spent for a ride you'd never dream of waiting that long for now? For me, Batman and Psyclone are the worst, but I did about 2 hours for Superman once too... I did 3 hours numerous times for X, but that's a ride I think is worth it. JimBeach
^ Great responses. We've gone from shoes to line waits. Last time I was at SFMM, a week ago Sunday, we got ERT on the front coasters in the AM, so when the GP came in we went to all the back coasters with no one in line. Except for Deja Vu since it was hit or miss in terms of actually operating all day and night, finally made it. The only line I encountered was Log Jammer so I used my FlashPass only once and felt guilty over jumping in front of everyone else and had a private log. Well, that's what FlashPass is for. ebl
LOL!!! You guys are all too young to remember when SFMM ran five trains on Revolution that all had that paint scheme. After all, it was originally called "The Great American Revolution" in honor of the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976. BTW...I just noticed...apparently, when you type the acronym for American Coaster Enthusiasts, it changes to "Gravy Train." Interesting... RIP Psyclone
Taken by Gravy Train's Ric Turner: There had to've been some stacking with 5 train operation, though. I just hope these trains, whether new or more likely refurbished provide a smoother ride. At West Coast Bash on March 9th, Revolution was pretty much unridable. JimBeach
I still love the Revolution, then La Revolucion, and originally The Great American Revolution. Wish they would restore the lights to the loop.
astroworldfan1
I really like the new colors on Revolution. They seem to match really well. Has the ACE plaque been replaced yet? I am asking this because it was removed because it got vandalized. -Tatum
ebl
^ New plaque is in place---only to be tagged again, most likely. Remember, those are the original colors, not new ones. (Great American Revolution = red, white, and blue.) I've never really liked the new scheme, in place since about 1990. Eric
bflag
(From Screamscape) 6/9/08: According to a Screamscape source, the decision to cancel the nightly fireworks at The Mountain was only partly due to “wildfire concerns”. The biggest deciding factor involved was apparently one that was completely beyond the park’s control. From what I’ve been told it was the county that decided not to renew the park’s fireworks permit due to fact that Newhall Land and Farm Co. is ready to start construction work to extend Magic Mountain Parkway past the park and down the southern border of the park, right next to the park’s traditional fireworks “launch site”. Of course after seeing that property sit empty for decades, I’m curious just what kind of projects they are planning to build so close to the theme park and what kind of affect this could have on the park in the future. mrfatwrecker
What have the crowds been like this week? I'm thinking about going tomorrow and leaving early to see the Laker game. I don't want to though if it means I'll only get to ride a few things.
JimBeach
^ Hit X2, Tatsu, and Viper right when the gates open, then get to the back of the park rides. Use FlashPass for everything else you can. Mid-week shouldn't be 'that bad' as a lot of schools are still in session.
vedved82491
^I find trying to both X2 and Tatsu one after another in the morning impossible. At least not without waiting quite a bit of time. Viper's line is also a lot longer in the morning. I'd try X2 first, and then hope Tatsu is running to a good capacity and catch it later. If anything, you can use Flashpass on Tatsu. If Viper is running two or three trains in the afternoon, then you should have no problem getting on fairly soon.
JimBeach
^ Also, besides what I said and the guy above me said you might want to hit Deja Vu from the get go (after X2). It's slow loading due to the nature of one train, doesn't talk Flash Pass, and is often not running consistently.
NYTrojan
or you can just... not hit Deja vu. It's the only ride I've never ridden at Magic Mountain. I've been a million times and am not even mildly interested in that one. Ditto Wicked Twister at Cedar Point. I've never been a fan of boomerang coasters, and am not thrilled with shuttle coasters in general. I can handle waiting in a line so long as it is moving, but those lines are just soooo painfully slow. Way too much standing around. Is the ride really worth it? JimBeach
Rides like Deja Vu I guess are to each their own. I like it, don't love it. I think it's worth riding at least to make your own conclusion. My first time I was so freaked out I had to try it later, knowing what I knew.
astroworldfan1
Are there even plans of repainting Revolution in the near future? There are some spots where the track is getting pretty rusted. -Tatum
haiderodes
Should be ready soon!!! Looks good, but I wonder about the continuity of it all. When the ride first opened it was called The Great American Revolution and its "theme" was obvious. Then it went to the Mexican Revolution theme when it was renamed simply Revolution (makes sense and fits within Baja Ridge). Now I'm not inmplying just because a train is getting painted it means a change in theme, but just wondering if they are thinking about changing the name back? And will they be adding the "knee pads" found on all the other Schwartz coasters. The bare metal can be kinda painful.
JimBeach
^ Don't know what they're planning but new trains would be nice. I do know they're planning something for Colossus' 30th anniversary. According to Jay, look for something exciting later this year.
haiderodes
^For Colossus don't you think it would be cool to bring back the light show?
Magic Alumni
^ The light show is still there and working. It was on Sunday night! My guess would be the backwards side working all year or they change the operations so it races at all times.
