  1. Funny you mention that. There is an old story about some guy who was embalmed many years ago and was on display. Think his name was Speedy or similar. Later on Speedy dissappeared and by way of several pure chances and other places, wound up as a hanging decoration in a dark ride or fun house. Everybody thought he was just another prop, not a real dead guy. Once this was figured out, he was removed, IDed, and given a proper burial. Google it later if you want the particulars, but that's the gist of it. They did a whole episode on this story on TruTV. The guy was an old west train robber.
  2. Terrance Newman of the Dallas Cowboys documents his first ever rollercoaster ride, on a Tony Hawk's Big Spin. His reaction is pretty hilarious. http://www.dallasnews.com/video/dallasnews/sports/index.html?nvid=261072&shu=1
  3. Are you referring to ipod style chargers? iphones are quite popular these days so those plugs are multi-functional.
  4. That is just about the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard! Things like this make our justice system a joke... I remember hearing about this in a law course. The guy fell through the skylight onto the kitchen counter, landing on a knife and causing him a stab injury in the leg I believe. He got paid...........horrible
  5. Found this...I'm not sure if it's for the same park, but how many Christian parks could there be? http://www.holytaco.com/2008/06/23/heres-a-theme-park-for-the-whole-family/ "Have you ever thought “Man, roller coasters just aren’t doing it for me. I wish there was a place I could watch an actor perform as a bloodied Jesus carrying a crucifix?” I know I have! Well, now there’s a place where you can. Someone sent me this today. It’s a picture from a theme park called Holy Land. The website for Bill Maher’s new movie “Religulous” features some stuff about it. Here’s the highlights: If you want to avoid the crass commercialism of Disneyworld but still want a wholesome family vacation in Florida, why not head to Holy Land, a theme park experience dedicated to discovery of the Bible. This Easter the Holy Land Experience invites you to take the path of the Savior with Follow Me: The Road to Resurrection. Each presentation has been designed to draw you closer to the steps of Christ, following his ministry, his trial, death and victorious resurrection. That sounds really really awesome, except what if I get hungry while I’m watching Christ die a horrible death, Holy Land? There’s a full menu of dining options and several shopping locations for you to search for treasures and other gift items. If one of those places is a TGI Fridays then I’m just going to go ahead and purchase my plane ticket to Orlando right now. Maybe I’ll bring my cousin for his Bar Mitzvah."
  6. This was posted in the "Theme Parks on TV" thread by Voyage_luvr Step By Steps theme song intro shows Six Flags Magic Mountain....as a seaside park? Check out the scenic pan out at the end. Haha, nice CGI.
  7. I was there on Monday and it was crowwwwwwwwded. I'm sure Friday will be worse. Prepare for long lines in hotttt weather.
  8. So today I showed up before the park opening, thinking I could make a beeline for X2 and ride it a couple times before it gets crowded. My, was I wrong. Overflow parking lot was in full force today and it was crowded before the gates even opened. X2 didn't even open until almost 11:30 and the line stretched allllll the way across the bridge, down the stairs, and down the walkway past the wall of coasters. Somehow I was only in line for 1.5 hours though? Oh, and while we were watching X2 test, a train got caught at the top of the lift and made me think the wait was for nothing. Fortunately, it went over the hump and made a full circuit about 10 minutes later. Riddler's Revenge had a train stuck on the lift all day. Johnny Rocket's took no more than 10 minutes today at PEAK time, with a CROWDED park...strange Oh, I puked today for the first time in a long while. Sorry to the guys in the "??????" station.
  9. your friend on the left looks a lot like sasha vujacic.
  10. What have the crowds been like this week? I'm thinking about going tomorrow and leaving early to see the Laker game. I don't want to though if it means I'll only get to ride a few things.
  11. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080604/ennew_afp/germanyswitzerlandreligionoffbeat_080604162941;_ylt=AruDBKsu8d4b7qtd5b2yIzTKOrgF Biblical theme park planned in Germany Wed Jun 4, 12:29 PM ET BERLIN (AFP) - If you ever fancied lunch in the Tower of Babel, visiting an "original size" Noah's Ark or a multimedia depiction of the final battle between Good and Evil, you may not have long to wait. ADVERTISEMENT Under plans announced by a group of Swiss evangelical Christians and reported by the German press on Wednesday, Genesis Park, a theme park based on the Bible, will open at a yet to be chosen site in Germany by 2012. It will group some 40 attractions over an area the size of 70 football pitches encompassing all areas of the Christian story, according to the organisers' website. The centrepiece will be what the organisers call an "original size" Noah's Ark which is 150 metres (490 feet) long and surrounded by water. Other attractions will include two roller coasters -- one giving an idea of the Great Flood and another on the theme of heaven and hell -- a miniature version of Biblical-era Israel and a Roman amphitheatre. Visitors will be served food at the City of Enoch, a Tower of Babel panorama restaurant, an Old Testament-era desert tent, and a mock-up of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus -- also the location for the main shopping mall. "We would like to transmit the story and the message of the Bible in an active and exciting way, so that many people in our society may have the opportunity to experience up close the most wonderful and fantastic love story of all, the love story of our Creator and Jesus Christ," the website said. The project is well short of the necessary 120 million euros (185 million dollars), but organisers are talking with German investors and hope to raise enough by the end of the year, according to the Frankfurter Rundschau daily.
  12. They indeed said that original films were destroyed, but fortunately all could be replaced.
  13. Funny tidbit about my visit to the park today... We waited about 20 minutes or so to get on Riddler's Revenge. When we finally got on, the thing stalled like 10 feet up the lift. So we sat there 10 feet up on the lift, and easy stair climb down to the station. I thought we would be there for hours, but fortunately the ride started up after only a couple minutes. As we began climbing the lift hill again, the ride operator said "The train is off the tracks!" which was not a pleasant thing to hear at the time. Fortunately the ride went flawlessly after that little hiccup though. Also, X2 had like a 2.5 hour line close to when the park opened. I saved it for later when I only had to wait about 45 minutes. That ride is AMAZING. I seriously love X2 a lotttttt. I didn't ride Tatsu at all today because the line was also about 2 hours the entire day. I also saw Jahan walking around the park, put 2 and 2 together with his TPR shirt and the glasses.
  14. Have they addressed the cycle time issue yet? It really looks much slower than it used to, and it seems Jay keeps passing over that question when he posts here. So... Jay Thomas, do you know anything about longer cycle times for X2 and if it can be brought back to its original speed?
  15. It's possible to build a career anywhere. Gary Story started with Six Flags sweeping pathways, and ended up CEO of the company. So yeah if you stick it out and do good, you can make a good career out of it. This reminds me of the McDonalds commercial where the girl starts out at the frier and ends up manager of a region, ooooohhhh ahhhhhhh. lol
  16. I was in elementary school at that time, 2nd or 3rd grade I think. School was closed for like 2 months cuz all the buildings integrity were jeopardized.
