The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^ I think they're taking it down piece by piece so it's easier for the scrap yard to process

Eric

maybe but then didn't they say that flashback may be rebuilt later in 08.. but then what is going where that huge plot of land is where psyclone was

They said it--my guess in an attempt to quell any sort of protest from coaster enthusiasts, as it is a "unique coaster". I personally don't believe that was ever the plan.

The ride has been sold for scrap metal. It's gone and never coming back.

As for Psyclone's footprint, nobody knows what's going there.

Wouldnt surprise me if Psyclone or Flashbacks spot turns into Wiggles World or some family flats.

But we all know AQUATRAX are going into both spaces, so sorry flat ride fans.

It was not for sale in this last year. They were going to give it away to any body who would remove it.Remember Flashback has already been relocated twice. In 1985 when it opened in Illinois to 2 years later when it went to Georgia then to Magic Mt. When you see the torch cutting in the middle of the track you know it's scrap time.

"When you see the torch cutting in the middle of the track you know it's scrap time." (Mr.Wood)

Eh, you never know...they might have been adding an inversion!

As some of you said, I think that space will be generously donated to Hurricane Harbor, and I think Psyclone's hallowed ground will become some sort of family attraction.

The "rumor" that is going around is that they are going to shut down that whole back side of the park. They want to unload Deja Vu and remove Jet Stream and kill that entire back end of the park where Spllicken corners use to be. It's all part of a stream lining of the park. Again it's a rumor does anyone know more?

I will be at SFMM for the first time in like 7 years tomorrow! My friends and I decided to get the annual pass so that we can go back and ride X or X2 or whatever it is called. We are most excited for Tatsu, although I am a little nervous because I am having a harder time tolerating coasters as I get older. I will try and write a trip report when we return!

^Considering that they just moved the water massage place back to that area, reopened Thrill Shot, and recently opened the new Cold Stone back there, I don't think they are going to close that area of the park.

In re Jet Stream and Deja Vu-I think at least Jet Stream will be staying, Deja Vu I am not certain about. Although I don't envision SFMM getting any more coasters for a while, the area where Deja Vu is and where Psyclone was would be a prime location for a new coaster in a few years.

I would not be the least bit surprised if the entire area gets an overhaul in a year or two, with another kids' area and a new coaster of some kind-not necessarily any type of record breaker, but a decent sized coaster-maybe a wooden coaster the size of the new one going into SF St Louis.

The funny thing is that entire park needs an overhaul. There is just no TLC in that park. Revolution is a wreck and it was always a great ride. The load for Gold Rusher is falling apart . When you ride Colossus you need a kidney belt and a mouth guard and so on and so on but can you really expect anything else from a park that slaps a coaster down in the parking lot and doesn't remove the parking strips under it. The park has a great layout but it's hurting.

What you said is as far as any of that has gone. That's a rumor that I believe was posted on Screamscape a month or two ago, although there's been no word of that officially. Nor does it make much sense. Ever been to MM when the overflow lot is full? They need that area for those busy summer days. Deja Vu runs fine and is barely down unless for its yearly rehab. That "rumor" sounded made up from the first time I read it.

^The park is much better now than it was 5 years ago. The parks clean, employees are getting better, the park is slowly beginning to turn for the better.

The new owner and park GM don't seem like fans of plopping stuff in parking lots anymore, it was a thing of the past. Its time for the "parking lot coaster complainers" to stop dumping all over MM because the past GM had no clue how to run a park.

I honestly don't see any reason to shut down the back area of the park. Creating dead ends detracts from a smooth flowing park like SFMM (in my opinion). I remember when you got to the end of Spillikin Corners you had to turn around and go back. Creating a loop around the park was the best thing for them to do.

And keeping the area open will provide room for future "family friendly" attractions.

For anyone who's still confused: Flashback is not going to be moved anywhere! It is being cut into little scrap pieces convenient for shipping methods to be melted once and for all. Reading the last 5-7 pages of either this thread or the Flashback being demolished thread will tell you that.

I think the area Flashback is in now will become part of Hurricane Harbor. Or they'll do nothing with it and let it sit empty for a year or two while they think of some sort of addition. Where Psyclone once stood, I'm hoping for an huge Intamin launch coaster or new woodie.

^^Yeah watch out for the bottom of the pretzel loop especially in the back seat. Seems to get me every time.

One Flashback down, two to go, the other two coasters in the world called Flashback are Vekoma Boomerangs at Six Flags parks, what a motely crew.

Maybe they can change call Deja Vu's name to Flashback now, and say it's a new coaster - Flashback to the power of 2.
