Nice coverage, guys. ^ You just barely beat me to that point, which I agree with. I think I'm mostly sad to see another "ride host" attraction disappear. What is Orlando down to now....four? The Great Movie Ride, The Backstage Tour, The Jungle Cruise, and Kilamanjaro Safaris....am I forgetting any? Aside from the Safaris (which seems pretty pivotal to that park), with the Great Movie Ride and The Backstage Tour not real high on most peoples' lists, will we eventually see the Jungle Cruise as the only one left of its kind? Considering Living with the Land, Jaws, 20K, and even the front cab of the Monorail, we've either lost the human element or the entire ride. I gotta imagine the others might also be on somewhat borrowed time. Personally, it's a real bummer to see these types disappear in favor of automation. There's something about the human interaction on rides like Jaws that was always enjoyable. Sometimes you'll get the host who's having a crap-filled day, but most of the time it's fun just to see an employee who's seemingly enjoying their job, and perhaps thinking, "Hey, my big break could come at any moment, 'cause you never know who's onboard."

The End of the Internet.
BeemerBoy replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To be honest, I'm not concerned about any of this. There's two things I'm convinced the American people will find the willpower to rally together to prevent from happening: 1) Food being taken away. 2) The government effing with their internet, and/or television. -
^ No, he's correctly suggesting that it was dumb to post that quote in here because it didn't belong. For the record, your track record here isn't helping your case much. Just sayin'.

Dave & Ice Bat's Thread Of Awesomeness!

This already beats pretty much anything network TV has to offer. Looking forward to it.....and hoping tasers are involved at some point! -
That's the most subjective load of crap I've ever heard. Also, it's called inflation. Look it up. It figures in. FACT: The first Star Wars movie was released 35 years ago. If Lucas partnered with Disney to create a "Star Wars land," it would probably be just as, if not 1000 times more popular than Potter. Oh, and did I mention the popularity of that franchise spans three and a half decades? These arguments are stupid.

^ Ron, I think your last point is the most important one....interact with people. Don't let TV executives continue to manipulate the rest of lazy, narrow-minded America into thinking what they see on the tube is what life is completely like. As you were posting, I was actually going back over R.D.'s response, and a similar thought was occurring to me. Wouldn't you guys say the complaining about Logo's lineup isn't really so much about "The network should portray us better," as much as it is, "I just really don't care for the programming anymore." I mean, it's not like the network is catering to straight America. It's really the same as everyone bitching about the History Channel never actually showing any "history" anymore, The Learning Channel never showing anything educational anymore, or ESPN going to bed with the NFL, LeBron, and the Yankees and Red Sox, right? Judging by the sentiments here, Logo is really no different than any other network these days. Executives realize that train wrecks sell, and that's just the way it is. Unfortunately, too many Americans buy into that crap.

I found the recent conversation rather interesting, so I thought I'd chime in with my own perspective on the matter...if you all don't mind. In listening to your opinions on how you feel you're currently viewed on screen in today's world, I couldn't help but think one overwhelming thought.....Congratulations, welcome to the mainstream, guys!! Don't get me wrong, I understand and recognize your concerns. However, from the perspective of a straight man with what I like to think is a fairly realistic look on the world, it seems like you all have finally achieved a huge victory in a sense. Think of it this way. While it does seem that the overwhelming majority of gay roles on TV and in the movies suggest that you're all "flaming drama queens," at least you can join the ranks of women, blacks, southerners, and so many others. I mean, if we all believed most of what we saw on screen, then women are still inferior to men, blacks are just comedy pawns, everyone in the south is a dumb redneck, and all gays are drama queens, right? See what I'm saying? You guys finally made it!! Seriously though, if now your biggest hurdle is being represented more evenly, then I'd consider it a HUGE accomplishment, since I can still remember when even the thought of a homosexual relationship on primetime TV was too taboo to even suggest. Hell, LOGO back then? Yeah, that was like thinking a black man would be President. Truth is, comedy breaks down walls, and the way most gays are viewed today is a direct result of the one thing that helped the gay community become more widely accepted in mainstream culture.....sitcoms. Ellen, Will and Grace, Modern Family, and others all served to help us laugh at each other, and ultimately start to accept our differences. Your points are valid that the "flamboyant" characters naturally stand out, but just like any group, making Hollywood buy into the thought that equality across the board shall reign is an uphill battle. The roles will come....it just takes time. Heck, I caught a glimpse of that show with Damon Wayons' kid the other week (Happy Endings?). And while it seemed like it was trying too hard to be funny, it had its moments. And along the lines of this discussion, it also had a "manly" gay character that, for all outward appearances, was "just one of the guys." It just takes time.

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

Huh? I really see nothing wrong with naming a ride after something scary or intimidating. Isn't that the point? Arachnophobia is -nothing- to laugh at. For ANY reason. There's a difference between a scare, a thrill, and paralyzing fear. One can call a ride Black Widow and not necessarily put an enormous arachnid on the logo. I guess it's a good thing the industry took Ophidiophobics into consideration then. We wouldn't wanna have any Vipers, Pythons, Black Mambas, Cobras, Anacondas, Rattlers, Diamondbacks, or anything similar out there. I like the name and logo. Although, to whoever mentioned the "Pitt Pendulum" idea....that was brilliant. -

Poor location? Pepsi products? Pfft, this is proof that LEGOS can overcome any obstacles! -
Oh please, you really believe that urban legend? First of all, Camel Spiders are not spiders, they are a group of Arachnids called Solifugae. They in fact have no venom whatsoever. They can give a nasty bite, but the worse that will happen is possible infection of the bite area. Its very sad to see how many stupid urban legends have been spread around... No offence guys but you're all making fun of stupid GP comments about coasters and theme parks, while many of you make just as strange comments about animals that you dont understand. Im aware the post I quoted above is from a while ago, but I thought I'd prove that myth false if anybody reading this thread believes it. Thank you, Jack Hanna.

POLL: Would you be on Fear Factor?
BeemerBoy replied to Twister II's topic in Random, Random, Random
$50k might be enough for me, if that were the true amount. But unfortunately, you basically have to slash any game show winnings in half to come up with the realistic payout after taxes. Then again, I don't know, $20-25k might still be enough to stomach a few bugs for a two-day earning, considering there's not a single physical stunt I would shy away from either. -
^ The Porsche joke is about the 911. Nobody in their right mind really cares about anything else that company builds (okay, besides the Carrera GT).

Gotta start off by kickin' it old school. I'll always have a soft spot for the Atlantis Condominium in Miami. By today's standards, I suppose the design is pretty tame, but back then it was mind blowing. And as a kid in the mid-'80's, you couldn't drive by this without humming the Miami Vice theme in your head! Hell, I still can't. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2Cq8WnQiuI CenturyLink Field, home of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.

I agree, the amber kills it, but the bottom shot is a much cleaner look (minus the blue). I say GO FOR IT! Side note: Poor Audi. The entire industry is pilfering the one unique design feature that set 'em apart.

Joe, you're killing me with that video (since I can't see it here at work). As for the lights in general, I love 'em. Does your Z4 have xenon "Angel Eyes"?
