  1. Such a cool report, Divv! With all those wonderous popcorn flavors, I hope you had enough cash left over for plenty of Doritos Locos tacos while you were over here.
  2. I wouldn't wanna live in a world that is "Knoebels free."
  3. What was the point with this comment? I'm not sure what the seal hunt has to do with the horrible conditions reported at Marineland. I understand where you're going with the fact that people protest silly things when there are much larger issues going on in the world (Fastlane vs inhumanely killing animals). But take a step back and read that comment. This discussion is about a Canadian family/owner not treating animals properly in an aquarium-type setting. It comes off as though you're saying "why expect more from them when Canadians (the nation) allow seals to be clubbed to death each year?" I'm done now. I'm sorry if this came across the wrong way. I'll return to the Canada's Wonderland thread where I belong. It's in reference to this statement from the original article: It seems rather apparent that Canadian zoos and aquariums aren't exactly held to very high standards. "Self-regulating industry association" screams "we'll look out for each other as long as everyone's making money." And with a government that still legally allows up to 400,000 harp seals to be clubbed to death each year, how can anyone expect drastic penalties, or even change to come about regarding Marineland's horrid conditions? That's what my statement meant. Sorry I needed to spell it out.
  4. Yes, I also think every Canadian lives in an igloo, skates to/from work, and dines solely on Tim Horton's and Canadian bacon. Way to miss the point, chief.
  5. I'd be more than willing to bet that none of the accounts were "over-exagerrated." The one thing about most trainers in zoos and aquariums is that they're animal lovers first and foremost. They treat the facility's animals as if they're family, and it really does effect them emotionally when the animals are neglected. You'd probably hear MANY more stories like this from other facilities if employees weren't so afraid of whistle-blowing. Also, keep in mind we're talking about a nation that still legally allows up to 400,00 harp seals to be clubbed to death each year. And yet some "enthusiasts" are more concerned about boycotting "fastlane" procedures instead.
  6. For me, it's not a B&M vs. Intamin issue.....it's a "boring as hell" issue. Gatekeeper is a larger Wild Eagle with two keyholes. Whoopdeeeffindoo. That's not to say I didn't find Wild Eagle fun (it was). I'm just bored with Cedar Point's philosophy. As I said before, I was hoping Maverick would signal a change, but it didn't. I realize it's a bottom line company, with CP as its highlighted feature park, and they're not building this stuff for us. However, I just kinda wish Cedar Point, being one of the two or three major players that could realistically build anything, would step up and grow some balls. If you wanna call yourself "America's Roller Coast," then back it up with something bold. Be the American amusement park that's willing to take calculated chances. I want variety. I don't want the same thing I can ride at any number of east coast parks already. I want a Blue Fire...a Winjas...a Megalite....or God forbid, another Intamin woodie in this country (you know, it's only been six years since the only other one has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that it's world-class). Until then, I guess I'll just be content to watch Cedar Point pretend it's still a leader while the Hersheys, SDCs, and even Six Flags of the world pass them by with uniqueness and innovation.....and better rides. Just a thought.
  7. Wes, you certainly seem to have a lot of inside information on such a secretive Morlock society. Hmmm....
  8. I didn't even have to read this. Many past trip reports from this place already had me convinced.
  9. Okay, now I'm officially confused as hell concerning this project, and pretty much everything Rocky Mountain offers. I'll just sit back and hope things turn out well for Outlaw Run, because we're planning on making our way out there next year. It looks really cool.
  10. With the right skills (or just watching a weekend marathon of home shows), you could probably replicate any room on property. Just sayin'.
  11. ^ Exactly. That's why I was kinda hoping Maverick would be a turning point. Management doesn't agree with me though. Then again, I'm not sure why I'd expect anything more...we're talking about a park that doesn't even have a dark ride. I'll just take it up with the Morlocks the next time I'm in town.
  12. ^ That's all? Disney's clearly slipping.
  13. Been quietly thinking the same thing. The only difference is that this is really more of a hybrid coaster (I think...since I don't pay close enough attention to the nerd details)...despite what anyone else wants to claim it as.* So basically, I guess I'm holding out hope. * To me, anyway.
  14. It's weird that the Aquatrax is the last interesting thing they've put into the park. I'm still patiently waiting for Cedar Point to start acting more like innovative Europe and less like cookie cutter America. Oh well. I'm fully expecting Knott's to announce one, just to balance out the country-wide wingrider distribution.
  15. ^ Probably not, but he'll still have the opportunity to blow through whatever some team pays him....unfortunately.
  16. ^ It's in the pic right above the one with the price....the Chateau Petrus, Pomerol 2000 Adam, I'm surprised you didn't mention the Dinoco helicopter...
  17. The average IQ of coaster enthusiasts?
  18. It has two whole minutes underwater too. That part was left out of the video.
  19. Kinzel is the king of the morlocks. His retirement coincided with the 7134th mating period for the morlocks. Morlocks sink the rides if they aren't given enough pure Pepsi syrup to survive an entire summer. They are deathly afraid of concrete and trash cans. This is already more entertaining than "Avatar Land."
  20. Have the morlocks provided any clues to geological predictions of the sinking of rides, or is this a secret deal they made with Dick Kinzel that he will take to his grave? * If no one knows, then I'm asking this question at the Coastermania Q&A next year.
  21. Honey badger won't care again after he's eventually cashing checks on Sunday. A shame, but true.
  22. Can you vouch for all of them each night? A "taste of Cincinnati." Well, there's a selling point. 42,319 isn't small. In fact, there's 15 parks with less seating than that. That's half the league.* Somehow "palace" and Cleveland in the same sentence will never work. i.e. they probably drink more because their team consistently sucks.....and they live in Cleveland. I'd still wear my Boston gear there with no hesitation. The place has "one positive," but gets a 9/10? *Oakland being an exception. They could open up to 60,000 if needed.
