I know I agreed with both of you on FB, but I'll do it again here. The champagne stuff is getting stupid. Period. On top of that, it always kind of irks me how it remains the only sport where teams openly celebrate in front of each other without any congratulatory handshakes. Granted, it doesn't have to be a hockey-style lineup, but even the NBA and NFL teams somewhat mingle and congratulate each other following a championship victory these days. Why not baseball?

What's the difference between having to ask one joint to remove a topping, and another to add one?

^ Yeah, I mean, I'm pretty sure he's been throwing....just not 95+ or anything. That's a good question. If he has said anything, I haven't heard it anywhere.

I don't know. They were ballsy (stupid) enough to sit him down the important stretch run. I just can't give them credit for being intelligent enough to insert him at this point. And I'm not educated enough on the topic, but would it be possibly even more detrimental to have him throw at game speed now that he has been sitting for a while? In other words, who knows? I just think they deserve to lose on principle alone.

^ Amen to that!

You can. But the Giant's what?

I guess when you stop and think about it, it could easily be split, considering the divisions in which each play. While Bobby Valentine did his best to keep the Red Sox unusually out of contention, the O's still had to contend with NY and Tampa. Then you've got the A's, who had to face Texas and California (sorry, I refuse to call them whatever else they claim to be these days). Yeah, that really could be a coin flip....a lot like Trout vs. Cabrera. I'm never usually a big fan of splitting an award, but I honestly think this is one of the strangest years baseball has ever seen when it comes to individual accolades, and would be perfectly justifiable to do so.

Same here. Buck was a friend of ours back in the day when he started out as the Yankees Single A manager in Fort Lauderdale. A real stand up guy, and underrated manager.

^ I applaud you, Reed. The Rock Cats are awesome. That is all.

It's low class no matter how you slice it. KC is still only good for it's bar-b-q. -
I'm sure the other big thing about being a Pirates fan is that you're surrounded by two other winning franchises in the city, which has to amplify the frustration. Even so, if I were a Pittsburgh resident and Pirates fan, I'd enjoy going to see a ballgame at PNC on a regular basis, no matter how bad the team sucked. That place is still one of the best I've visited. And think of it this way, even though the Braves managed to squeak out one World Series win 17 years ago, their fans have pretty much endured the same heartbreak as the Pirates fans ever since. However, I think it's worse because Atlanta is annually allergic to postseason success. I'd rather my team not make the playoffs at all than be a Braves fan. Just remember, there's three certainties in life.....death, taxes, and the Braves squandering another postseason opportunity. Don't worry, Pittsburgh's time will come.

Yes. And you know what, those teams wouldn't still be around unless they had diehard fans. You know, FANS...as in people who bitch and moan about their failures, but love them regardless. Hmmm, what the hell do I know? Well, let's see. How about a quick rundown of all my favorite teams? New York Mets - I watched 'em win it all once, back when your Pirates were still significant and I considered Andy Van Slyke the biggest douchebag in the league. They teased me once again at the start of the millennium and haven't done crap since. I still love 'em to death. Boston Red Sox - Please, don't ever say no one could understand your pain. Ask some of the octogenarians who had tears in their eyes when the final out was recorded in '04. Case closed. Boston Celtics - Growing up in the 80's, they were my heroes. Then I spent two decades watching the rest of the league stomp on 'em, wondering if the winningest franchise in history would ever return to prominence. Guess what? They did....and I was right there through it all, with tears in my eyes in '08. You said something about "20 YEARS!"? Miami Hurricanes - You wanna talk about highs and lows? Be a 'Canes fan. And trust me, the latest low is gonna last quite some time considering the NCAA is only a few months away from rendering us even more insignificant than what we've already become. And when you go from being arguably the most dominant college football program in history, that's quite a shock to the system...and pretty painful to accept as a diehard fan. Guess what? I'm still going down with the ship.....and when we do rise again, I'll be right there with 'em flashing the U in the face of everyone. Miami Dolphins - This is MY team. They were my indoctrination into sports. I grew up at the Orange Bowl watching the Fins. Oh, and did I mention they haven't been relevant since their days at the OB? You know, the Miami Dolphins....the '72 Perfect Season, the winningest coach in NFL history, Dan Marino, etc. etc.? They used to be considered one of the elite teams in the league. Well, we had that card revoked decades ago. Yes, decades. Hell, I'm currently 38 years old, and these eyes have never seen them win a Super Bowl. Never. Oh, they teased me twice, failed both times, and haven't done anything to draw the league's attention since they became reality TV stars this offseason for HBO. Yay? But guess what? I'm a Miami Dolphins fan until death. Period. The Boston Bruins - The reason I will never give up on any of the teams mentioned above. Again, 38 years of life before I got to witness a Boston Bruin hoist the Cup, and I openly cried when it happened. And for every single one of the 364 days following that, whenever I ran into a "life sucks moment," I'd stop and think about the Cup...and smile. Seems trivial to some, but that, my friend, is the definition of the reward for loyalty. If you leave your team, you are. How about this? The front office of the Pittsburgh Pirates (or any other team in any other sport) doesn't give a rat's arse about you....and never will. They are there to make money. If they happen to stumble across success along the way, then that's just the cherry on top. Just keep watching and rooting for your team. It's that simple. If you wanna be LeBron and take the easy road, be my guest. Just don't expect any respect from the real fans that stay behind to go down with the ship. That's what I know.

I have zero respect for "fans" jumping ship, regardless of a team's futility. You, sir, deserve the Braves.

Wow, not even one page in and someone is already complaining! --Robb "Can we maybe have a ride announcement where people don't make stupid, embarrassing comments? Oh, wait... no." Alvey I wasn't trying to sound like I was complaining. I've just heard from some friends who live in germany that gripping the handles infront of the seat on Blue Fire could be somehwhat discomfortable. I've never personally been on Blue Fire myself so I can't say that for certain. I would love to ride this coaster and it seems like a great new addition to the park in 2014. The only thing "discomfortable" is this logic. *sigh* Oh, and the coaster looks incredible. -

Georgia being Georgia.....a perennial pretender.

^ Yeah I think the perception that it's "more expensive" is simply because the place resembles every other "fast food" joint...even though there's no drive-thru, and it's made-to-order. Pretty well said. Best traditional fast food burger = In-N-Out Best "fast food" made to order burger = Five Guys
-
To me, it's just a really good fast food burger. I don't eat a lot of burgers, as I usually prefer chicken, so when something comes along that catches my taste buds and leaves a lasting impression, I stick with it. In-N-Out just does that....unfortunately there's the stupid perception that most people who love In-N-Out bought into it to some extent due to the "trendy" factor (which many probably do, but still). For me, I don't bother with that crap. It's just like my music and everything else...if it sounds good to me, I listen; if it tastes good, I eat it, etc. etc. Now if only I could combine In-N-Out's burgers with Five Guys' fries and Stake 'n Shake's shakes, then we'd be in business. I'm not really familiar with their history, but as far as their quality plummeting due to franchising, haven't they always franchised, but been pretty rigid with who gets in? I thought I heard that they only built locations within 500 miles of their own beef farms? Has that changed? Arby's has good Market Fresh sandwiches.
