  1. Avalanche at Timber Falls. No comparison. And for steel coasters - Magnum at CP gives most, but Mamba at WoF gives the best (the second hill in the back seat is insane).
  2. VF! Steel Venom looks pretty awesome at night, but the award goes to WoF Patriot. http://coastercommunity.com/smf_forum/index.php?topic=123.0 (about halfway down the page) Simply incredible.
  3. I love you, FLIPDUDE. That is hilarious. Keep it up.
  4. I hate Mr. Six. Why can't he just die? BTW, I'm under 15 and I don't love this news.
  5. I'm still in love with VF!'s RipCord. Thanks for the Photo TR. I've been rather VF!-sick lately.
  6. Guys, remember that you shouldn't buy a coaster just because you won't get tired of it. There's no way any of you would be able to fit Kingda Ka or Millennium Force into a non-amusement park environment (or space, for that matter). I would buy VF!'s Steel Venom. Its launch doesn't get boring, I like the ride, and it doesn't have a big footprint.
  7. That happened to me on Whizzer at SFGAm during ERT at CoasterCon.
  8. Wait, that isn't true. Here's what it says on the pdf. 8 am - 10 am ERT on Tatsu, X, Viper, and Revolution -- 10 pm - 12 am ERT on SCREAM!, Goliath, and Tatsu The park is open inbetween.
  9. Three, Worm has ridden it. He lives in South Africa.
  10. Dive to Atlantis, Mt. Olympus. Boring, slow, and badly paced. All of Mt.O's junk is stored in an obvious area around the ride. We actually had to stop at the beginning of the lift to drain the water. Also, Pegasus, Mt. O. Boring, rough, slow. At first glance, it looks like there may be good airtime. Wrong. The lateral forces on some of the turns are almost too painful and there is a horrible, disgusting slam at the very end that nearly broke my glasses. Not even the kids like this one much.
  11. 1.) I don't know where we'd be. Some of what they did would have been created later, no doubt, but a bit of it was very unique. 2.) Brakes. 3.) I think that the next generation of coasters will involve a lot of new kinds of woodies. We will be digging into records like drop, length, and airtime, instead of the standard height and speed. And, of course, we will be introducing a coaster made out of a completely new material - plasma!
  12. I agree. Very true to life. In a completely unrelated story, I too have figured out the harness glitch!
  13. Do all you can to avoid riding in fours. Unfortunately, this is the ops' preference to keep the line moving. It makes sense, but try hard. Best combination I know of is two people facing backwards to begin with, no one facing forewards. Second best would be two bigger people facing backwards, one smaller person facing forewards. Try for the second of the two. That's much more likely than the first.
  14. ^^Und B&M? Ich weiß, daß es nicht deutsch ist, aber ich bin ich hatte Recht vorher ziemlich sicher. If you understood that, you get a cookie! What I said was "And B&M? I know it isn't exactly German, but I'm fairly sure I was right before."
  15. I can answer all of your questions. First of all, I'm glad you liked The PaMoA. I grew up with this park when it was Camp Snoopy. Second, you need to go back and ride their log chute. It is undoubtedly, unquestionabley, undeniabley, the best log chute on the face of the earth. You hardly get wet unless you're very unlucky. It has two drops, two onride photos, and some amazing theming. Third, I've been on Worlds of Fun's Spinning Dragons and The PaMoA's TimberLAND Twister (TimberLINE Twister is at Knott's Berry Farm). These two are clones. No Gerstlauer spinner will spin much if the car is balanced. For best spinnage results, try, try, and try again to get only two people in one car, both facing backwards out of the station. This is a lot easier to do at The PaMoA. So, really, they spin the same amount. It just depends on how the car is balanced. Personally, I prefer Timberland Twister. Don't know why, I just do. For future reference, Pandemonium at SFNE is a little smaller than the others.
  16. Magnum: Say "mag," then wait a moment, then say "num." Repeat or add water to make lemonade. As far as Tusenfryd goes... If you know how to say an umlaut, look at this: TOOS-ehn-FRÜD If not... TOOS-ehn-FROOD I got this is from the video of Speed Monster, so I think it's correct. It may be wrong. I'm confused on Lake Winnepesaukah. Is it "Layk win-ehp-eh-SOOK-ah," "Layk win-ehp-eh-SAHK-ah," or something else all together?
  17. Wow. Just wow. *insert dancing bananas here*
  18. Gerstlauer: GERST-laow-er Just to clear things up, "Bolliger and Mabillard" is NOT pronounced... "BAHL-ih-jer and MAB-ill-ard." It is pronounced... "BAHL-ih-ger and MAB-ee-yard" Hard "g" in "Bolliger."
  19. ^It's pretty much the way it looks. SHWORTS-kopf or SHVORTS-kopf BTW, this is my frame of reference for the pronounciation of Geauga Lake.
  20. A lot of you are just posting places near you. How about a place with no coasters whatsoever? South Dakota
  21. Geauga Lake: "jee-AH-gah layk" At least I think that's right.
  22. Neither. It's more like "vay-COMB-uh" The "vay" is a cross between "va" and "vay," but it's a little more "vay." Sort of like "veh." I mispronounced Tatsu until yesterday. I was saying "TAT-soo." with an "a" as in "apple" Geauga Lake went through a lot. First it was "goo-AY-gah (I don't know how I got that)," then it was "gee-AH-gah," with a hard "g," as in "goat." Now I'm right. Space Mountain. Yeah, that isn't true...
  23. -What is your opinion on Intamin coasters? -What are your favorite B&M coasters? -Is it possible that we will ever see a completely B&M-designed woodie? -What are your opinions on Patriot at Worlds of Fun, in comparison to Talon at Dorney Park? -To you, what makes a great coaster?
  24. You won't wait forever. Here's a quick run-through: 1.) Every ACEr gets out of bed early and heads to the park, usually one or two hours before it opens. 2.) The park lets ACErs in. There are almost never more than three coasters open, and almost never more than three other rides. 3.) Those who are saying you'll wait longer during ERT are COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY WRONG. The only park I know of in which you will wait longer during ERT is Little A-Merrick-A. ERT is designed to have the quickest and shortest lines possible. You will only encounter lines for the front and back seats. Almost never will it be out of the station. If the coaster has more than one train, the park will try to operate all the trains. If you ever get a chance to try ERT on Raging Bull, do not hesitate. All three trains will be running. Also, most parks will let you stay on if no one is in your line back in the station, and if you chose right (almost anything that isn't the front or back), this will happen over and over. 4.) The ACErs ride until the park opens. After that, ERT is no longer in session. Anyone participating in ERT must finish their ride and get out of line. Now the park is open to the public. In short, ERT DOES NOT CREATE LINES! It all works out very smoothly. Just don't worry about it. You probably won't even notice many ACErs, unless you venture too near the hot dog stand.
  25. The 'word': "ERT" The defentition: "Exclusive Ride Time; time set apart from an amusement or theme park's regular schedule for members of roller coaster clubs to ride a selected group of roller coasters and other rides." The language of origin: Coasterese. "ERT." B-L-I-S-S. "ERT." Thank you.
