Skycoasters - Question about them.....
steel replied to nihtro's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Buttonman700 - are you sure? I was actually pretty sure that skycoasters are just as safe, if not safer than many roller coasters. I have only heard of one accident (something went wrong with the ripcord itself and the man fell from about halfway up). -

Actually, I beleive the line is "six more times," not "five more times." Honestly. Some people. Seriously, though, that's one of my all-time favorite quotes from "The Simpsons." Anyway, the ride. It seems strikingly similar to Timberland Twister... ...and Spinning Dragons... ...and Pandemonium... Huh, I wonder why that could be. -
I LOVE this show. Best show on TV right now as far as I'm concerned. Last night's episode was really well done. I loved the New Orleans group at the end. I agree that Amanda Peet is the shortcoming. However, she isn't actually all that "short," so to speak, and she is improving. I would have to say that my favorite character is Harriet, probably followed closely by Tom. Both actors are perfectly suited for their roles and pull them off flawlessly. Of course, the West Wing alumns are great, but I've been seeing them for years (not that they aren't both wonderful actors themselves). I really like the new writers as well. The Christmas scenes were a lot of fun last night. CreativeForce - Heroes? That show isn't NEARLY as interesting as Studio 60. It's a good show, but it will probably follow LOST into the oblivion that is good television gone bad. But I guess I can't say for sure. We'll wait and see.

Now I don't want to alarm you or anything, but that's actually five words. I love this. I'm glad I'm not in Chicago right now. I can't honestly say that I enjoy snow. Sure it looks nice, but it's so, so, so @!?%} cold! We haven't gotten any yet in central Iowa, actually, but the highs at this point are always around 20 or 30 degrees, which is almost worse, because it's freezing AND it looks like crap. And it's Iowa, which does a lot to make it awful. This reminds me of my first time at SFOT in 2003 during Holidays in the Park. We were in line for Texas Giant when a light drizzle of sleet started up slowly. I can say from experience that it doesn't take much to make a Texan think that the end of the world is near. "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

^This is an idea worth taking into consideration. While they're at it, why not put Thunderhawk and Head Spin through the shredder as well? -
Here's some math from a while ago. Obviously, it's a mixed review. This part covers solving systems of equations with the form "y=ax^2+bx+c," the usage of "i" to solve for "x," and some simple factoring. Hooray for High School Geometry! Hopefully this is big enough.

^Not quite - KidWorks is actually right above Ghost Blasters, right next to Old Time Photo, which is right next to Mystery Mine Ride, which is right next to Toy Store. Basically they are taking out these three attractions and putting it right next to the ferris wheel. Thank god for online park maps. -

Oh, come on. It isn't that bad. It's a heck of a lot better than it used to be I remember sitting on an axel seat two years ago and nearly breaking my neck. I sat on the same axel seat this year and got an awesome ride. Satoshi - I understand where you are coming from, but you have obviously never ridden Villain. I loved it until we hit the bottom of the first drop. After that I honestly thought several of my ribs had cracked. Even worse, we were sitting in the second row, which is supposed to be about the third smoothest row. Thank GOD they are doing this. After the success of Raging Wolf Bobs' retracking, I'm confident it will be much better. After all, there's nothing they could do to make it worse. -
^Are you sure? Because its fairly easy for me to see that the waves are completely different. Greased Lightin's waves turn in on themselves more and there is more of a difference in height.

Not quite. They're removing the moving theater and a couple shops. The vertical loop will be right next to Ghostblaster's entrance (at least this is my understanding of it). -

The barrel rolls aren't anything special. If anything, they hurt your arms and legs from the centrifugal force. It's a fun ride, but it certainly isn't a top ten coaster. I'd rather ride Dominator or Steel Venom. And it does sort of have a theme. I'm pretty sure it's themed to an air force base or something like that. Tmcdllr - Yeah, but it's a good Vekoma (unlike its neighbor across the path and its evil cousin just across the park). -

No, it will be in the old Camp Snoopy section. I am pretty sure they are taking out Mystery Mine Ride and a couple other buildings to fit it in. It will be right along that wall next to Ripsaw's station. -
...Yet they don't take action against the senseless idiocy of dying a small dog pink and stuffing it in a horrendous dress day after day after day...

So when do we all think The Park at MOA will "officially" announce this on their site. I would imagine that we will have to wait for a while - at least until 2007. -

Actually, both are true. I just got a personal email from Dick Kinzel and he said that they're actually cloning every piece of steel used on X-Flight. The original is going to PKI and the clone is going to MIA. It's true. Dick Kinzel told me. -

Well, I've been to WoF, MIA, CP, DP, VF!, and GL (not that that matters). At VF!, I don't know where they would put it aside from where Excalibur is right now. I suppose they could expand a little more in the back or take out their Antique Car ride. At Dorney, they could take out Laser or build it alongside Steel Force. At CP, there isn't a really good place to put it. Maybe they could fit it in CCMR's lot, but I don't know why they would want to. At MIA, I agree with you in that it would work very well as a connector from Shivering Timbers to RipCord. WoF has way too much room. They have Orient Express's old lot (but I'm saving that for my dream GCI). They have a huge section of the park that's only seen from the train ride as a "ghost town." There's a huge plot of land where Heart of America Theater is right now, and they NEVER use that, so I wouldn't be surprised if they removed it in the next few years. And last, but not least, they could fit three X-Flights in the room between Patriot and Mamba (next to the highway). I find it very intriguing that you saw heavy equipment at MIA. I'll keep my eyes peeled for more info. -

^No. Cedar Point would be doing just as well today if they hadn't built Top Thrill Dragster. Sure, it boosted attendence for a couple years, but now it's just a ride at the park, however intense and incredible it may be. Same concept. And X-Flight isn't by any means a bad ride. I really enjoyed it both times I rode it and a lot of people think it's the best ride in the park (which frankly, I don't get, seeing as it is right next to Steel Venom and Dominator isn't far away). -
