  1. I've ridden both, and Chang was much better than GL is now. Chang was my favorite ride at KK. I do still enjoy RR, but yes it's gotten rougher over the years.
  2. ^ GL is just too painful. I've ridden it twice and that's 2x too much. Yolo looks great.
  3. General Manager John H. posted on twitter today "Millennium Force getting a little touch up before the big day on May 11." I just wonder if the track is finally finished? It looked terrible last season - partially painted. Towards the end of the season the newly painted track was already loosing the blue paint job. Lots of work going on...
  4. ^ I called the number on the truck -- good marketing trick. This is going to be some ride!
  5. ^ That third drop (right before the mcb) on Goliath produces great sustained floater airtime. I'm always in the back and really feel and enjoy it. I'm hoping yolo delivers similar...
  6. I've always been a Jay Thomas fan! To the best of my knowledge, he moved to corporate in Dallas after leaving Magic Mountain. I've not seen or heard from him since. I do hope he's still around for 6 Flags sake.
  7. The webcam links are down this morning. Top secret stuff going on???
  8. I also noticed this afternoon on the webcam that Windseeker (aka Breaking Wind) was cycled up to the top of the ride. Let's hope it runs again this year after all the problems at Knotts.
  9. Yes, in the early days, I've seen Tatsu use both sides of the station. I've been present when SFOG (6 Flags Over Georgia) ran both sides of Superman too. This really speeds things up, and almost eliminates the "uncomfortable hanging wait" to get into the station. That's the worst part of these rides -- all the blood rushing to your face.
  10. ^^ Both trains are on the active track now. No train(s) on the transfer / maintenance side track as of this afternoon. Both trains on active track!
  11. ^^ Thursday afternoon around 4pm, there was something happening (hard to see) on the turn out of the station before the lift hill. It almost looked like a train, with people around it. I couldn't zoom the image to see more. It then advanced to the base of the hill behind the station so I couldn't see more. I'm sure testing is getting close!!!
  12. ^^ Greg, thanks for the great picture update. It's starting to take shape! I'm not a big fan of Premier, but this one could change my mind.
  13. Here is the article from the Sun Sentinel paper. db hurricane 20130324.pdf
  14. Sad update on the Dania Beach Hurricane status. The local paper - Sun Sentinel had an article in today's paper 3/24/13 on the abandoned woodie. It is scheduled for demolition on May 28 unless someone saves it. The corporation that owns it Dania Woody has been in bankruptcy for sometime. It's been closed since April 2011. This makes me sooooo sad
  15. Does that article mean Tim Burkhart will no longer be at Magic Mountain if he oversees all 6 Flags parks? Will he move to Dallas (corporate) like Jay Thomas? I personally never had much interaction with him, although I've seen him more at the park than the "Ice Queen."
  16. ^^ I got that survey too. I didn't respond since I have no opinion on that subject. I don't have any young children, and all I want is more coasters!
  17. They've even included a "Fat Boy Seat" for our big coaster fans... Trains on the transfer / storage track. 2 Gatekeeper trains on track. Here is a quote from the Cedar Point blog from yesterday 3/21.Two of GateKeeper's trains are now assembled and on the storage track awaiting their first command. Which, in a few weeks, will be actual testing.
  18. That tunnel looks CRAZY! Count me in for a trip to San Antonio! I gotta ride this one. I loved NTAG, but this looks crazier!
  19. ^ Great pictures and I love the Gatekeeper comment.
  20. I'm sure it's just me, but I think the track and artist rendering of the trains looks old fashioned. I'm not impressed with "the look" of this ride. I'm sure I'll enjoy it though. Just for me, visually non impressive...
  21. ^^ At Magic Mountain it's 10 minutes early. Discover gets in 5 minutes early. I'm sure all 6 Flags parks will follow the same "program."
  22. ^^ I hate people bitching about MM. Correction, it's been now 7 years since C.P. put in a new coaster - Maverick. That didn't work for me since I don't like that ride. I don't count Shoot the Rapids as a coaster. The Mountain is my favorite park, and I grew up with C.P.
  23. Looks like they're already dismantling the big crane. I guess they don't need it anymore. Unbelievable construction pace... Look to the far right in front of the lift hill. The tall work is done!
  24. For me, I enjoy Riddler. It's my favorite stand-up. It has gotten rougher over the years. I always do at least 3 - 4 reps (single rider line) when I visit the mountain. I'll need to try the "magic seat" on Viper. I typically don't ride it when I visit. I'll give it a try. I've ridden the "Grunt Lantern" twice. Once forward and once backwards. I didn't enjoy either trip, so it's not on my "to do list" when I visit. As far the TV queue line entertainment, I like it. It helps pass the time while waiting. I think it's a great idea. Even the commercials I find useful / entertaining (messin with Sasquatch).
  25. ^ I totally agree on the Jay Thomas comment. I've always been a large (vocal) supporter. The park and I really miss him.
