HRP Photoshop contest - VOTING!!
TPDave replied to TPDave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok, I think it's time to call this one. With over half the voters voting for him, the winner is purplepills! Congrats PM me your info, and i'll sort you out a Bag O Crap! Dave -
Erm, that doesn't stack up. It doesn't matter what the train does after the pre drop, the track is straight where it leaves the train so there can't be a horizontal component of stress. In the picture below, you can see the front of the train is on the drop but the back is just leaving the pre drop, it's perfectly straight and not experiencing horizontal force.

"At least that was the excuse Erik gave us. I think he said something about Arrow being responsible too." Ha! Great TR Divv I can't wait to get back to Toverland, that place is so good!

Are you implying the park can "turn on" it's technical faults the second the press leave? I don't get your logic... Dave -

Your avatar? You can do that yourself, unless you want the title fairy to have a go at that too...

Good stuff Divv, let's see if you can beat Lou's record for not only the latest TR in history, but also the longest running. Wasn't her's like 8 months from the first to last update? Has she even finished it yet?! Dave

Thorpe Park Discussion Thread
TPDave replied to Rooey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not to sound like the TP fanboy rushing to my parks defense but I fail to see how you've based any of what you've just posted on reality. This is better themed than any new attraction since '99. You haven't seen the indoor section of the ride yet, so you can't pass judgement on the experience, and the exterior is a lot better themed than most other rides in the park. Added to that there's still over a month until the ride opens so things can still change. At the end of the day, the ride is sponsored by twisted pictures who can't afford to screw up their franchise with a shoddy piece of work, so they won't let this ride be a let down. Personally i don't think it's the best ride for the park, but I understand that they're going to do the best they can with it. Dave "If you're going to be negative, at leat wait until the ride is open (even then, it'd be nice if you'd ridden it...)" Wilson -
Hi there, They're not actually brakes, but a pre drop. The idea is that the track is at such an angle that the train moves at the same speed as the chain lift, reducing wear on the dogs etc. More recently they've just been speeding up the chain at the end of the lift to achieve the same effect. Hence no pre-drops on some more recent B&M's. Hope that answers your question Dave

Yeah, there's a slight difference I'll never forget my australian cousin saying something along the lines of "I threw one of my thongs at him, got him in the face!"
