My advice for you is if you've never done TTD, ride it in the front seat, and be sure to look down on MF as you crest the tophat. It may be intimidating, but it is very smooth and as many have said, very short. One of the biggest dissapointments while riding TTD is if you have to spend the short amount of time you have on it looking at the back of the seat in front of you, so ride it in the front seat. It's worth the extra wait. I haven't been on Griffon, Sheikra, or Oblivion so can't help you there. -James Dillaman

Maverick's Kooky Warning Sign
jamesdillaman replied to HogarthOK's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ yeah, but they definitely NEED that sign for dominator/batman at GL. The head-banging on that rivals the SLC's. -James Dillaman -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
jamesdillaman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Thinking in terms of the State of Ohio, also keeping in mind that KI was the park Cedar Fair origionally wanted, but had to buy them all as a package deal. -James Dillaman -
Most Overrated coaster?
jamesdillaman replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dominator at GL seemed overrated to me. I had heard it was such a great floorless, but was rougher than any other B&M I'd been on with the exception of maybe Mantis at CP. It just didn't stand out to me. Superman: Krypton Coaster at SFFT was MUCH better than Dominator could ever hope to be. -James Dillaman -

Glad to see they're doing something to downplay the fact that it's a relocated average ride. The free shirt thing should drum up some major publicity, along with the ads EVERYWHERE in cincinnati. I've personally seen TV ads for Firehawk on 4 different networks, and noticed at least 5 different billboards just in my area of town that prominantly display firehawk. Hope Cedar Fair does well with KI, so they can come back in a few years with a NEW ride that'll make KI a destination park, which it currently isn't. It's the kind of park that people hit on their way to other parks, or just for the locals. It has the potential to be a sort of "Cedar Point South", with some updated hotels and some good rides put in. I know it's probably a pipe dream, but I see this as a step in the right direction, especially with Cedar Fair dumping all this capital into hyping up Firehawk. -James Dillaman -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
jamesdillaman replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I heard that there could be a new ride at King's Island by the lake between Rivertown and IJ:ST's parking garage. Also a new flat and a restaurant has been heard floating around for the area where Firehawk was built for next year. -James Dillaman -

Both trips I made to GL when X-Flight was there, there was no single rider line that I remember (I believe it was in 2000 and 2005) -James Dillaman -

I love the platinum pass options at The Beach (free soft drinks, exclusive seating by the wavepool, free tube rental in the morning...) and the staff is always really nice. Many a hot summer day when KI is overly packed, my fiance and I head up to The Beach and just lounge out in the sun, even if we don't ride any slides, sitting by the wavepool is always awesome. I don't think the beach will go anywhere as it has attractions neither Big Wolf Lodge or KI has, namely one of the best holiday fests around here! All it needs to be a grade-A waterpark is one of those giant interactive water playgrounds that everyone has. That's the one thing the Beach is really lacking if you ask me. -James "Also love the bring a friend free on M, W, and F!!" Dillaman -
VIP tour programs at theme parks
jamesdillaman replied to kraxleRIDAH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ You can do KI in a day unless you go on Bring a Friend Free day or Math and Physics day or something like that. Most of the time it isn't too bad. Especially in the evenings the crowds tend to dwindle off. I worked there for a couple years, and you'd be surprised at how much the lines tapered off after the sun started setting. It was a shame, too, as Beast is really good at night, well... decent. -James Dillaman -
Well I voted in my last matchup, as I haven't been on Balder. May the more popular coaster win!

Rich is a cop, I don't think he has that kind of money. Care to elaborate on exactly HOW you got so much money, Rich? Drug money, maybe??? -James Dillaman -
Could be cool. Although i like water rides where you can choose to get soaked by sitting in a certain spot, or not "soaked-to-the-bone". Especially rides that require you to wear shoes on them. Nothings worse than having wet socks in your shoes and getting wrinkly feet that hurt the rest of the day. Cedar Point even sells dry socks at the end of their Rapids ride, at least they did the last time I rode it. -James Dillaman

^^ Lame. That's all to be said by that. Kids today wouldn't know rock if a boulder hit them upside the head. I mean seriously, last time I checked, the Red Hot Chili Peppers played mainly funk, not rock. -James Dillaman -

You mean they're finally building Super Mega Ultra Skyscraper Coaster 3000?!? I can't wait. We'll have to go there next year, Joe. I'm booking the flight now. On a serious note, Julia and I are heading up to America's Roller Coast on June 14th, so we'll see if Maverick's open by then. If not, it doesn't really phase me, as I'll just go up later in the season, but it'd be nice if anything just to draw crowds away from MF... -James Dillaman -
VIP tour programs at theme parks
jamesdillaman replied to kraxleRIDAH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We went to Cedar Point one saturday in June after Wicked Twister opened, and were prepared to pay for theie VIP pass, but it poured down rain for an hour, everyone left, and then cleared up with no crowds. If we hadn't gotten held up in traffic on the way there, we probably would've wasted our money. As a general rule, I think theme parks are expensive enough, and if you can go during the week, or early or late in the season, or even on a cloudy, scattered showers kind of day, you can get everything in with minimal waits. -James Dillaman -

Got MILF? Disney does. Love the pics. I've got to get back there sometime. Can't convince the fiance to have a disney wedding, or even a disney honeymoon (she wants Hawaii, guess I can't argue). Loved the night pics. -James Dillaman -
Did you do the antique cars? IB has one of the finest layouts I've seen, with it being completely above the water on wooden slats. -James Dillaman

I love it! Think of how great an S-curve will be. They took out a boring heartline roll and put in something worthwhile. This also means that they should be able to get it up and running fairly quickly. I'd say a few weeks. I'm not dissapointed, as i value my health, and 7 g's didn't sit well with me. I do question why this didn't get caught during the design phase, and I bet some important questions are going to be asked in the next few months. -James Dillaman
