  1. I loved Snick! The lineup I remember: Ren and Stimpy Roundhouse All That Are You Afraid of the Dark? "Welcome to the Round- HOUSE!!" -james "hooray for random dance-party sketch comedy shows!" dillaman
  2. Emma Faust Tillman, the oldest woman in the world, died today at the age of 114!!!! She lived through 20 U.S. presidencies! Can you imagine living that long? RIP Emma! 1892-2007 EDIT: Read about her amazing life: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Tillman -James Dillaman
  3. ^I know I've seen this before...
  4. How many times would he ride X-Flight? Ohio would be proud to have Mantis Man move here. I know just the community for him to live in. It's called "Norwood". OMG, Norwood!! That makes me so happy you have no idea. He would actually be considered normal compared with many people I've met from there. I've been really busy applying and auditioning for a music job here in town, but we'll get together soon. Thanks for making my day, though. I'm still laughing. -james dillaman
  5. X-Flight did have grass at Geauga Lake Sorry, but when I rode it there definitely wasn't any grass under it. Only dirt and concrete. The grasss must have been added in a later season. This is what it looked like when I was there.
  6. When I was at the Tatsu campout, I unwittingly met this person, and I got far away from him quick. He just strikes you as someone who has something to hide, like a serial killer or something. maybe riding xcellerator is the only thing keeping him sane enough to not turn physically violent towards innovent people. Holy crap, it's going down for refurbishment in march..... Oh well, he won't make it all the way to Ohio on his violent excursion of rage and xcellerator withdrawl. -james dillaman
  7. ^ Try the link above, also don't plan on riding Xcellerator, as it appears it will be closed for rehab while you are there. Besides that, have fun. -james dillaman
  8. ^ This is great, and shockingly it still looks like an aquatrax-inspired design to me. Anyway, hope everything's on schedule, and it does appear so, for the spring launch (no pun intended). -james dillaman
  9. ^Maverick DOES seem to have pretty good theming going in with it, so we'll have to wait and see. But yeah, six flags theming is good, too. Like how they theme most of their parks to an old themepark with broken-down rides. That's pretty cool. And I think Walt would personally come out of his grave and smack you if you seriously compared SF to Disney. -james dillaman
  10. ^ X-Flight was pretty much a parking lot coaste at GL. Hopefully it will sit on top of something better at PKI than it's setting at Geauga Lake, which was awful. Didn't even have grass. -James Dillaman
  11. Ginzo, Sign us up for free lodging, we could hit CP then if we could spend the night in between. That'd be a fun trip, actually. We'll have to talk more when all this snow goes away!! I miss the coaster days of summer!! I've got your digits, and vice versa. As for this thread.... what can I say? I'm just not excited about this move. I'm watching "Around the World with TPR" right now, the DVD, and after seeing all these rides, more than 3/4 of them are ones I'd rather have moved to my homepark than X-Flight. Anyway, I'm glad they're getting something, and I hope for CF's sake that the vast majority of the general public doesn't realize it's a relocated coaster. Probably not, I'm hoping. PKI was the park that Cedar Fair wanted to buy from the beginning, right after they acquired Geauga Lake, so I believe in my heart that they have plans for a good addition sometime in the near future. (A man can dream, can't he?) -james dillaman
  12. ^Then perhaps a GL roadtrip is in order this summer, Joe. You could take your wife (is it weird to see that still??? ) and I'll bring my fiance. -james "actually, we should go to kennywood instead, screw GL " Dillaman
  13. ^ I was wondering the same thing. The way the poll is designed it takes into account what you've riden, and false information could only make the poll wrong, even if you think you're doing the right thing. I'm not saying one ballot that isn't valid would screw up everything, but why risk it? Mitch's is one of the only polls not tampered with. Let's keep it that way. EDIT: quoting your own post in the "what parks have you visited" thread: Disney's Animal Kingdom Disney's Magic Kingdom Disney's MDM Studios Disney's Epcot Paramount's Kings Island Paramount's Carowinds Strickers Grove Wonder Park Coney Island The Beach Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Cedar Point Water Works Cosi Dollywood PKI's waterpark PC's waterpark ugggghhhhh I think that's it Last edited by PKI ManJZ on Tue Jan 23, 2007 11:20 am -james dillaman
  14. ^ I'm up for that. I've got my pass. We'll meet you guys at X-Flight and ride it. I'll own up to it if it's better than I'm envisioning. If not, you guys probably won't admit it, but we'll know. Nothing serious, just a fun get together. Plus it would be fun to meet other people from TPR that live in the area. I can assure you Joe and I are not bad people, but we have both been on X-Flight, and everyone's entitled to their opinion, right? -James "when they build it, we will come" Dillaman
  15. ^ How bad it's gotten? It's still PKI's best ride by far. That's sad isn't it? On another note, even I have never spent an entire day at PKI in it's current form. It's just too frustrating. I remember what Beast used to be, and even Racer. Heck, Vortex was a great ride. I miss the good log flume which they took out for Smash your manhood: The Ride. I miss the flying Eagles, easily one of the best rides in the park, which were shipped down to carowinds. Heck I even miss King Cobra, because tearing down a coaster for a flat ride and a pay-for attraction is crappy in my opinion. The car ride is gone, which used to be a great family attraction (always a line if you remember) and it was awesome when they had both sides running.... ah memories! Who can forget the monorail through the zoo? Perfect respite from the high heat of summer. Yes, PKI used to be a great park, one that I'd gladly spend all day in (being sure to eat at the Festhaus while watching the ice skating show to pass time, of course)! Now it's movie plugs everywhere, lackluster ride maintenence, and rude employees (especially the sweepers, don't EVER ask them a question). Cedar Fair has some good potential to work with, but it'll take a lot more than X-Flight to turn this park around. My biggest argument is the last thing this park needs is another average-ranking coaster. It has plenty. Staffing is bad as it is, and I agree with Joe that the funding should have been saved until they can put in something a tad more worthwhile. I'm hoping I won't go in there to see X-Flight plopped behind FoF with just a path to it. This is my fear. Say what you will about PKI (I sure do! ), I just think there are better things to do with the money than relocate X-Filght here. It still would have a better place in MiA. -James Dillaman
  16. Funny, all the friends that have stopped by on their way through that have stayed with me so far said just that: "Got the credits, let's get ut of here!" Then they go off to holiday world, or cedar point, or indiana beach, or SFKK, or whatever was next on their trip. FoF is their standout ride as far as quality goes, and I think that's pretty sad. I also agree with Ginzo, I don't like the move, more so because flyers are notoriously touchy, and I feel for the workers at PKI who now have to deal with it. And for those saying it's such a great ride, it isn't close to FoF. Look at Mitch's poll... X-Flight is 194 on the list. Top Gun is rated higher, and I hear all sorts of complaining about that ride. I personally like Top Gun, but it's definitely better than X-Flight. -James Dillaman
  17. Top Thrill Dragster: 26 Kingda ka: 69 Wow, that's a big difference for such similar rides, and I guess it goes to show that size doesn't matter when it comes to coasters. -james dillaman
  18. I knew going in I was going to get flamed by the PKI fanboys, but it doesn't bother me, so take your best shot . I never wanted them to rebuild King Cobra, I just enjoyed the ride, and it was FREE, unlike Slingshot. Don't even get me started on Delirium. Sure I like it, it's one of the best rides at the park, but going with a giant Huss ride after all the problems they had with TRTR is just questionable business practices. The Beast isn't taken care of (i.e. when was the last time you've seen grease on the rails mid-season?) and FoF is getting slower and slower (The midcourse brake-run almost stopped you completely last season.) All I'm saying is I'd rather millions of dollars be poured into general maintenence of the park instead of bringing X-Flight in. I find it interesting that both people who responded saying they're really excited about X-Flight coming haven't been on it themselves. If any rides were sent here from GL, I'd like to see Dominator or Steel Venom. If they could bring the Big Dipper, I'd even be more excited than I am now. My main concern is this is a low-capacity coaster, and it works in a park the size of GL or MiA. PKI's crews will murder capacity, unless there's a really good crew on it. I know someone who might be lead supervisor at the new ride, and I wish him the best of luck. I'll go ride it... once... but only to see what they've done with it. Give me a B&M over a Vekoma anyday. -James"Say what you want, because I do!" Dillaman
  19. All I can say is it's official: Cedar Fair is dissapointing for PKI fans just like paramount was. It's so sad to see a park in your own backyard getting hosed for so long on rides. X-Flight is not as good as the B&M flyers, if you ask me, and besides that, it isn't a new coaster. It would be different if it was being moved 2000 miles (see Borg...). Being moved 3 hours south means many of the coaster people who live here who are even a little serious have already riden it. I just wish they would have spent $10 million refurbing all their existing coasters and got nothing new. It would have been money better spent, in my opinion. Besides, as someone else said, this would have been such a better fit at MiA, no matter what any PKI fanboy tries to tell you. Time will tell on this one, but I predict long lines and a slow crew with frequent turnover. -James "Will be marathoning Top Gun this summer, only 'flying' I need" Dillaman
  20. ^ I think they did that, and called it "Air" -james "just kidding" dillaman
  21. Yeah, Goosebumps novels aren't really based on fact... -james dillaman
  22. The real question isn't whether you could do it, it's wheter or not it's a new credit if it's done. -james "let's fuel that fire again " dillaman
  23. ^ Any pics of the progress? Haven't heard anthing about this or what's going on at PKI for a while, now.
  24. Since when was X-Flight confirmed for PKI this year? They haven't even started construction on it yet it'll be there in April? I think your information might be based more on rumors than reality. -james dillaman
