Wicked Twister (CP) [NL]

I loved the ride! Great job! Also, Real, I haven't seen you on TPR in a very long time, I'm going to assume that your recent activity is due to CS being gone? -

^Dude. What the hell do you have against using the NLDC? And also, he had them up here originally, in addition to the NLDC link, but they didn't work so he took them down. -
Congratulations on coming out! I'm not gay, but I can only imagine how hard that must be to do. Also, psh. Peroxide does NOT burn. Try aggressively brushing your teeth then using Listerine. Now THAT is not fun! Jacob "Is stuck with half-yellow, half-chalky white teeth because the calcium doesn't distribute correctly, or something like that!"

It looks good! And where can I get newton now? I had it once, but I deleted it and now CoasterSims is down. EDIT: Never mind. I found it. For anyone who wants it, it can be downloaded at http://www.coastercrazy.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18947&whichpage=1 -

The only thing is, there is not much of the drop where the train is in actual freefall. There is a lot of force being exerted on it when the last car rips over the top of the drop and in the pullout. -

^Vertical turns go under MUCH less stress than a vertical drop would. Just because their both vertical doesn't mean they'd go under the same stresses. -

No, it wasn't a FIRST program. It's a competition put on every year by Boston University. Just about anything goes as long as it meets the weight and size requirements, and does all they ask. I just got back from the competition, my team made it to the finals, but lost the first elimination round. We would have placed 3rd had we won. But for the rounds that selected the 16 teams that would go on to finals, we placed second with 22 out of 28 possible points, the only team ahead of us had 26 out of 28.

I searched and couldn't find anything similar other than the animatronics thread, and this is different from animatronics. So who here is into robotics? I'm actually going to a robotics competition tomorrow at Boston University with a classmate of mine, our shop teacher and our parents. Me and my classmate were offered to do the competition as an alternative assignment from the rest of the class because our teacher could see we were far ahead of everyone else and really interested in robotics. In short our robot has to descend a ramp, throw a hackysack through a hole and 12" beyond that, ascend back up the same ramp, and either hold its position against another robot who had to do the same thing on the opposite side of the ramp, or push the other robot out of the way. Whoever is closest to the midpoint of the track wins. And did I mention that this all has to be done in 20 seconds? And that the robot can weigh no more than 4lbs? I don't have any pics of the robot yet, but I will have some tomorrow from the competition. The robot was built with VEX hardware, motors and a micro controller, balsa wood, and a victor mouse trap. And programmed with Easy C programming software. So are there any other robo nerds out there?

If you have a school supplied email you can just go to students.autodesk.com and register there, if you don't you can invite an instructor and all he/she needs to do is supply some information proving that you are a student. (What I did, since high schools generally don't give their students school emails.) Also, I'm a bit confused as to why IT would be using 3DS max, I use Autodesk Inventor because I use it at school, I go to a vocational school and take Engineering Technology as a career major. I actually got to design a couple of parts for a robot and have them made on a 3D printer for a competition me and my friend are going to tomorrow. (Expect a photo TR!) My partner and I actually got out of regular class work to build it. Our shop teacher was actually the one to tell us about the competition, while everyone else in the class was building balsa wood bridges with AutoCAD and MDSolids, we were building a robot. -

Very nice! Did you buy 3DS Max or are you using an Autodesk Student license? I've been thinking about getting myself a copy from the autodesk student community, but I don't want to waste my time to install it, It took SIX HOURS to download and install AutoCAD Inventor 2010. And I only installed the Inventor part of it. Never mind the AutoCAD Mechanical part. Though I'm thinking of installing that at some point. -
Nice! It reminds me a lot of Brain Drill.

A wooden coaster generally isn't smooth and flowing like you have it. Intamin woodies are like that, but what can you expect? It's Intamin. Wooden coasters generally have round turns, quick transitions, and sloppy bankings (yes, you have the bankings). The heartlines (believe it or not, wooden coasters have a heartline!!) are also varying, depending on where the element is placed, and how it is constructed. I.E. the entrance to a pullout may have no heartline, whereas the entrance to a turn comming into an airtime hill may have a heartline. The hills are also round, for the mostpart. Some are parabolic, like in the beginning of the coaster, but towards the ending they start to become rounded. Also, drops are mainly rounded. Pullouts never have a heartline. A heartline can only be applied to sections of track that rotate, since all a heartline is is a point on the car in the structural middle of it, at about the same height as the average riders heart that the train rotates around when the track is banked. (Provided the transition into the banked track is shaped correctly. -

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

ROTFLMAO. "This program is used by most companies to promote their coasters. Its called 3DMax. Its an animation software and it's about $500. No joke." An AUTODESK product for FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS? ITS A FREAKING MIRACLE!!! (For anyone who doesn't know, a SINGLE license of Autodesk 3DS Max is $3495) Jacob "Has a copy of Autodesk Inventor 2010, AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 and could actually get a 13 month license of 3DS Max for free if I wished. Thank you Autodesk student community!" S. -

Jared, what are the RGB color codes you used for Thunderback and Jolt's track and supports? I absolutely LOVE them! -
. Are you sure it's not just a clever marketing scheme by the bands drummer? Cheers, BlackHole2006 I'm pretty sure it isn't. Joey's marketing schemes go more along the lines of having his own blood put into a vat of ink used to print on his signature line of drum sticks from ProMark. Either that, or having a signature snare drum and drum set from Pearl and signature line of cymbals from Paiste.

The term "maggot" was coined by Slipknots drummer. It symbolizes how, while maggots LOOK repulsive, when put on something like a wound, they only eat the dead and decaying tissue, and leave the good, living tissue. The same with Slipknots fans, they try to rid the world of what they view as evil and unjust and make the world a bit better when they can. Story time is now over, children.

Does anyone here know how to pronounce Bodom? As in Children of Bodom, or Lake Bodom (which COB is named after). I've always pronounced it "Bohd-um" but some of my friends continue to insist that it is "Bode-um" even though its pronounced as the former in the song Bodom After Midnight.

Its a non favorite of mine too, but I can't help but find myself listening to Akon or Chamillionaire when no ones looking. Then again, even though I listen to *almost* nothing but metal most of the time, I would have to say I'm more of a general music appreciator.

^I was actually going to say that too. Although I was going to say a pendulum for the clock.
