  1. Well the time zone shown is for the 120mph turn. I design using large multi force zones because I prefer to keep all of my ducks in one place for an element. So I can have the turn be one segment with the roll/normal transition in, the turn, and the roll/normal transition out, as opposed to having 3 segments perform the same job, plus when designing complex elements in multiforce time zones, you can "slide" transitions and such around each other, making the coaster more fluid and not as "blocky."
  2. ^Oh you may as well go do it. I doubt I'm going to have the patience to support this thing! It will probably be in excess of 10,000 feet.
  3. I just started hating my name even worse than when Twilight first came out! God I hate sharing a name f!cking werewolf! I would honestly rather be named Anakin than Jacob at this point!
  4. Just my take on what a high speed coaster SHOULD be. You at least get to taste the speed (125mph), along with 4 gs of force for about 4 seconds before being slowed to a more manageable 80 just before the first overbank, but you come screaming out of the overbank at over 95! Long story short: NOT a family ride! New Bitmap Image (2).bmp Yes, that huge turn IS INDEED taken in excess of 120 mph!
  5. ^^I used to use Loefet's, but lately I have been using Newton2 to design my rides, I prefer the way it "feels" compared to hand building. Once I completely get the hang of it I'm going to come back and overhaul this coaster, but thats a month or three off. Haha, I didn't consider it much of a secret. I thought everyone did it!
  6. They look to be some kind of unobstructive work goggle, so my bed is its a hard acrylic that the sand will do very little to, but like you said, its Ferrari, they can buy as many goggles as they need.
  7. ^Ah, I see. No big deal. I'm curious though, does the N scale version actually run?
  8. If it is 7x15x4.5 it is not O scale. The CD inverts are O. This is definitely N. <-- Model Railroader, knows the scales really well.
  9. That could well be acceleration forces felt during the launch. I just did out the calculations, that would be the correct. A change of 66.603 m/s over 4 seconds is 16.65075m/s^2, which is about 1.697 G. Technical nerdiness aside, I'm very interested to see how this ride will perform, I have a feeling the sand problem may affect the launch mechanics a bit, but I'm not a ride engineer (yet!), they much more than likely already have that sorted out. If it turns out to be a success, I'm definitely getting out to Abu Dhabi somtime!
  10. It is too much IMO and completely unneeded, like you'll see the bolts and their shadows when you race down your coaster at 60Mp/h. It won't even be noticeable at the speed of a decent coaster if you ask me. My biggest concern is more different types of coasters like the 4D, B&M flyer, Glider coaster, Arrow suspended and stuff like that Just because you don't see small details like that while on the train doesn't mean they aren't appreciated. I'm actually very impressed that the bolts cast shadows, and I quite like the attention to detail Ole has.
  11. You have it so the support generator does not add in the handrails or catwalks (therefore leaving only the structural supports) then just select them all, select the L beam, and then go to Supports -> Transform Selected Beams.
  12. Well I'm glad to see I'm not alone here! I myself have a very mild case of Aspergers. Not enough to require any form of help, as my 13 year old step brother does, (He was diagnosed last year, and researching his condition is what led my parents to believe I have it) I do however have it bad enough to struggle somewhat socially. I have a great group of friends I am very close to, but outside of them I have trouble socializing, I don't know how to start any sort of interesting conversation or how exactly to tell if someone isn't interested when I am talking to them. I do not use my Aspergers as a crutch as I suspect my little brother does, (certain behaviors that are explained by Aspergers have been appearing more in him since he has learned he had the condition) mostly because I grew up not even knowing what it was. While I am at the age where one tends to "shed" most of the symptoms of Aspergers, (it never goes away, but in most cases it becomes much easier to manage around the age of entering high school) I still find myself somewhat socially awkward and quite embarrassed of how I used to conduct myself in the past. Oh well, what happened happened, you just have to keep taking life one step at a time.
  13. ^I believe he was referring to the height of the roof in relation to the platform.
  14. A more meaningful question would be "what prevented the trains from completely derailing?" I doubt Intamin gave this type of scenario much consideration, since it's never supposed to happen anyway. In a way, your question is kind of like asking what keeps a plane from crashing when its wings fall off. But to answer your question, I'm guessing the couplers between the cars kept it from completely derailing. Of course, we don't know much at this point, but I'm guessing this whole thing is the result of some really poor maintenance. It would be the fact that the cars are all connected to one another. The trains have 8 sets of wheels, 1 for each of the 7 passenger cars and 1 for the zero car. Only one of the set on the back of car 4 failed, so car 4 "derailed." The other 7 sets of wheels did not fail and kept the rest of the train from derailing.
  15. ^Chances are it has a speed limit programmed into it in case the train is running too fast, like on a really hot day.
  16. I've been meaning to build my own computer as soon as I've had "significant reason to." I've found my significant reason!
  17. Thank you very much! I will go add that link into the first post of the thread.
  18. Anyone know where I can get the latest version of the Auto Support Generator?
  19. ^The concept part is the launch and high speed lift hill. Just something I've wanted to try on an X-Car for a while.
  20. Just messing with Newton2, I hope I actually finish this one, because its a concept I've wanted to do for a long time. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=NewtonXcar1_luxv[/coastertube]
  21. ...Don't you need a building permit to build these kinds of things?
  22. http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRealEntropy That is Entropy's YouTube page. (Entropy is the guy who made Newton and Newton2) He has 9 tutorials on there which cover the basics of building in Newton2. I advise you watch all of these before giving Newton2 a whack, and referring back to them whenever you get stuck. Granted, they will NOT cover every element in every situation, but they give you the tools and knowledge needed to play around with Newton2 and get the hang of it all. EDIT: I forgot, don't neglect to watch the video "Newton2 First Look," this isn't part of the tutorial series, but it gives a nice preface to the tutorials.
  23. My family and I are going to Kemah Boardwalk this Thursday, we will be getting all day ride passes, but in order to make them worth it, we have to ride more than $20 worth of rides. For myself, the biggest thing to keep this from happening would be standing in line for Boardwalk Bullet (quite possibly multiple times), so I need to know, what are typical wait times during spring break? We will be arriving at the Boardwalk at about 4-4:30PM and staying until closing, if that makes any difference.
