I'd have to say that the Hime Nama Udon is my favorite of the instant noodle soups, eventhough it's not really ramen. My favorite ramen is the oriental flavor of any brand. -Julie *drool* I wish Walmart still sold these

Photo TR: From EPCOT with Love
USRoadTripper replied to BeemerBoy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I hate to reply in the middle of your TR, but it's late and I need to go to bed! But anyway, I got my postcard today! I got it from my mailbox at 7:21pm CST (but it had obviously been there longer...that's just what time I got home). I find it really funny that I didn't even realize that the wand wasn't above Spaceship Earth in my postcard! hahaha The postcard was postmarked on the 23rd, so it only took two days...pretty good I think! -Julie This photo has been deleted by the photographer. -
Thanks so much for the tips! But actually, I already decided against the camping. I was originally considering it to save some money, but once I found the Crowne Plaza in Allentown for $49 a night...well, there was no need to worry about saving money anymore haha I'll definitely keep your tips in mind in case I decide to stay there in the future though! -Julie

^Thanks for being the first person in this thread with that opinion...I didn't want to be the first! I didn't think Conneaut was that great when I was there two years ago, so I'm not surprised by the closure either. The Blue Streak was nice, and I'd love to see the park survive if only for the sake of saving it, but if it gets torn down, it's not *that* big of a loss. The way I see it is like watching a loved one die...sometimes when they are so far gone, it's better to let them die with what little dignity they have left. This isn't a situation of a healthy, thriving park suddenly being shut down. This park has been on it's last legs for many, many years now, and while everyone might not like it, I'd rather see it die with dignity than sit there and rot. -Julie

^ Definitely not! I LOVED American Eagle! It shares a lot of great qualities with Great American Scream Machine in Georgia, which is my favorite woodie. Granted, the huge helix in the middle could stand to be spiced up, but overall, I really, really enjoyed it. -Julie

Photo TR:GayLord Palms Resort
USRoadTripper replied to thefitness's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
So why does Gaylord Palms make the Opryland hotel look like a crap hole? Gaylord Palms looks so much nicer! We have themed areas like "Cascades" (how in the hell to you theme a hotel to a cascade??) Anyway, nice trip report! -Julie -
^ There's been some chatter recently about a smoking ban in "work establishments" in TN, but some tobacco shops and cigar clubs raised hell since their entire business revolves around smoking. I certainly think shops like that should be exempt from a ban since it's pretty clear that you should only get a job there if you don't mind the second hand smoke! I also almost think it's a bummer that smoking has been banned in bars and nightclubs. I dunno, but the smell of a smoky club is almost synonymous with the feeling of having a good time to me. Eventhough I don't smoke, I think the smell of smoke adds to the atmosphere in certain places. I'm definitely all for restaurants being non-smoking though. -Julie

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

I heard that Disney is shortening churros so they can up their per-inch profit. ...but you didn't hear that from me. -Julie -
It's very rare that I have a real nightmare where I wake up panicked because I was dreaming something scary. But I do have quite a few recurring dreams that are pretty strange. - Any time I'm going on a trip, I dream that I have forgotten something important. It generally has to do with my camera (I forgot it completely, I forgot batteries, etc). Before I took so many pictures it was always something like arriving on a trip, opening my suitcase and seeing that I had only packed shoes...no clothes...just an entire suitcase of shoes. I have these for every trip I go on. They're never scary, but annoying after a few nights! - I see someone steal then wreck my car. - My teeth fall out. - I am playing a claw machine game, but I end up doing so well that I get every prize out of the entire machine. The machines are usually huge (like, room sized) and I generally am winning stuff that wouldn't normally be in claw machines. I had this dream last night. -Julie

Current Blu-ray players obsolete by the end 2007
USRoadTripper replied to verticalzero's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'm personally still holding out on DVDs since they have already started releasing HD-DVDs. Once HD is the standard, no one will want to watch those hundreds of regular DVDs they have. I'd still rather buy stuff on VHS anyway (VHS tapes don't get scratched and ruined!) -Julie -
Looks like I will inadvertently be participating in the boycott because I filled up my tank yesterday and won't need gas for another week. I bet at least 6/7ths of everyone will be in the same situation -Julie

So, I'm NOT a camping person...never been camping actually. But I thought that it might be a fun thing to try during my trip to PA this year since a few of the parks have campgrounds. I just had a few questions. What is the weather like at night in July in east PA? Will I sweat or freeze to death sleeping in a tent, or will it be comfortable? And what about bugs? Anyone stayed at the campground next to Dutch Wonderland? There is no mention of bathroom/shower facilities that I could find on their website. So I'm not sure if that's a place that's accomodating of tent camping or is more for just RV camping. And to really show how little I know...is there a special kind of cord that you have to buy to hook up to the electricity at the campsite? I'm thinking I'll at least want an alarm clock and a camera battery charger, but have no clue what the electrical hookups look like! Is it even possible to just plug a cord into it, or is it strictly an RV hook up type plug? Sorry for what seem like really amateur questions, but I've never camped before! Am looking forward to giving it a try though! -Julie

The gas station near my house has been hanging out at $2.85 for a couple of weeks now. I haven't seen any of the stations here get to $3.00 yet. -Julie

^ OMG OMG OMG hahahaha I worked with him at Universe of Energy!!! Too funny that they would pick him for the video. Yes, he talks like that 100% of the time. He was also the kind of person who would get on a random subject and never quit talking about it...like the inaccuracies between the show Smallville and the Superman comics! Like anyone cares! hahaha But congrats Soren...that's a pretty cool thing to be asked to do! -Julie

Hotels in the "outside world" generally have 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am shifts. I seriously doubt that they would make a CPer work an overnight shift consistantly (maybe occasionally if short staffed, but I even doubt that). But really, they will schedule you whatever they need coverage for. I always hated working early entry at Body Wars since Epcot early entry was on Fridays, which was the day after cast night at PI. I had to be there at 6:30am, which meant waking up at maybe 4:45 or 5:00am, after a night of everyone being loud preparing to go to PI, then being loud and drunk once they returned. Fun times. Wouldn't change a minute of it though. -Julie

Great America/Indiana Beach advice
USRoadTripper replied to Chadley's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ed Debevics is awesome! The food is pretty average for a diner, but the service is so much fun! Definitely worth a try! It's also not very hard to find. When we went in 1996, one of my favorite things was the Museum of Science and Industry. At that time, one day a week was free, so definitely check and see if they are still doing that. They had tons of very interesting exhibits for kids and adults alike. And BTW, Chicago has tons of places that have credits...you might wanna check on RCDB for all the family fun centers in the area. -Julie -
I agree with Wes. Grammatically, I see very little wrong with the post. He's got great use of compound sentences! Maybe he goes to the same high school I went to And to keep it on topic, I guess I will give T2 a courtesy ride this year, and will hopefully have the same reaction as the OP. -Julie (MLK represent!)
