The only one that stood out to me was the car commercial where the factory machine gets fired and can't find work doing anything else, then throws himself off a bridge...only to wake up back in the factory. It was so cute! Too bad I don't remember what car company it was for! -Julie

This is my 1000th post. Instead of letting this momentous event go unnoticed, I decided to dedicate the entire post to the fact that it is my 1000th post. Here's to you, post #1000! Here's hoping there are many more in the future! -Julie -

Laugh Floor Comedy Club
USRoadTripper replied to CK Media's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A big group of us saw a guest preview of this show in December, and I hate to report that I didn't think it was that great. Only one person out of our group seemed to really enjoy it. Everyone else gave it around a 5/10...not *bad* but not really good either. I know that what I saw was just a preview, so I can more than overlook some of the technical malfunctions they had (at one point, a character was speaking, but the mouth of the animation on screen wasn't moving, and some of the speakers were quite low). But we saw almost exactly the same show twice, with only certain parts involving audience members being changed. It seemed to drag a little bit, especially when they picked a kid too young to know what was going on when the camera was on her! One downside I saw was that the vast majority of the show was scripted. I really think that in order to make the show interesting, it will need to be much more improvised, else there will be nearly ZERO repeat value to it. Of course, maybe they have tons of scripts and were just previewing that one that day, I don't know. But I know that the actors are former Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club actors, so they can be very hilarious if given a chance! Having seen the very rough preview of the show, it will be really interesting to see what the final product turns out to be. I have a feeling that it will have the same sort of reception that Stitch got though -Julie -
Coasters after childbirth
USRoadTripper replied to Marko's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First, I hope I am never one of those women who suddenly decides that she's too old to do stuff that she's always enjoyed. I've seen far too many women say "Oh I used to love what when I was younger, but I'm too old now." Goes for anything...swimming, swinging on swings in a playground, whatever, not just coasters. I tend to see the issue more as one where people think that coasters are something you do when you're young, then you just stop doing it when you're older. Like there doesn't have to be a reason...you just don't do it because you're not a kid any more. And there probably is a difference between enthusiast women and GP women in that regard. As an enthusiasts, I know that its something I like regardless of how old I am, and that there are plenty of people well into their 50s and beyond still enjoying coasters as a hobby. So to me this particular interest isn't one that I see as "only for kids." And I plan on riding until I physically can't take it any more. And as for the online dating thing...it's so funny that I have had the exact same reaction as the guys here! I put in my profile that I love parks and coasters, yet I have never met even one guy who will agree to ride coasters with me! They basically say what was said earlier in the thread...they like everything in the profile except the part about coasters! I don't get it! I guess I am the only coaster chick in the world with that problem! Being outnumbered so badly in the coaster community, you'd think I'd have my pick of the guys, but noooo..... -Julie -
Someone got fired from Body Wars when I worked there for putting a service dog on the ride. Yep...everyone was all strapped in and the dog was just sliding around all over the floor. Everyone who wasn't working there couldn't believe that anyone would be that stupid...either as the owner of the dog who wanted to take their dog on a thrill ride, or the ride op who actually thought it would be ok! Oh, the stupidity... -Julie

Today I _______ for the first time.
USRoadTripper replied to mmousefan's topic in Random, Random, Random
Today I cooked scrambled eggs in one of those metal ring thingies that you're supposed to use for pancakes for the first time. Didn't work too well. The egg stuck to the ring, then got overdone on the bottom. Was an interesting experiment though. -Julie -
The crap on crap

^ That's hilarious. The worst I've seen were at Conneaut. I went in one, and the doors to the stalls were falling off, and the toilets were so caked with waste that they were solid brown on the bottom! So I found another bathroom...same thing!! Luckily I was able to high tail it to a nearby Walmart before wetting myself! -Julie EDIT: Ok, let me rephrase...that makes it sound like I wet myself once I got to Walmart hahaha. Luckily I was able to high tail it to Walmart, where I found adequately clean restrooms just in time! -
What is the most awkward thing you can say on a coaster?
USRoadTripper replied to eli's topic in Random, Random, Random
"Oh my god, I'm having diarrhea!!" Works particularly well when sitting on bench seats. -Julie -
Primarily, I am so excited to see Kentucky Kingdom getting a little love! Maybe if this water slide and water park expansion brings in more crowds, we'll see a new coaster there pretty soon. Second, regarding restraints on water slides...imagine having all four of those people wearing some kind of strap to keep them in the raft. Then the raft tips over. You can't just assume that everyone restrained in a raft will be calm enough to figure out how to undo their restraint and get out of harm's way when they're face down in the trough. If the raft tips over and everyone is able to just fall out of it and immediately upright themselves, it could prevent injuries, people swallowing too much water, maybe even drowning if there was enough water at that point. -Julie

^ I was more picturing the baby crawling all over the apartment through plastic habitrails! -Julie (who is so glad that it's the piece of furniture the habitrails were sitting on! )

Galloping Goose #3 at Knott's
USRoadTripper replied to ahecht's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yep, we rode in the Galloping Goose in early September of last year. The engineer said that it was the first day it had been running that season. We sat in the front just behind the driver, which was really cool because the driver told us all about it through the entire ride. -Julie The Goose -
I'm totally in (model for Girls of TPR and purchaser of coaster calendar!) -Julie

planning trip to florida which are best coasters parks
USRoadTripper replied to belou2006's topic in Ask Alvey
In my opinion (and the opinions of quite a few people here) Epcot is more than a full day park. Trying to squeeze Epcot into the same day as both AK and MGM would mean that you'd barely see anything at any of the parks. Maybe try sticking to AK and MGM on one day, then end your Blizzard Beach day at Epcot, followed by more Epcot on Day 8. If you didn't end up spending all of day 8 at Epcot, you could always revisit your favorite things in the other parks. Epcot is definitely my favorite of the WDW parks, and is one that should definitely not be short changed! -Julie -
I think this is definitely a step in the right direction for the park. While I didn't think Psyclone was *that* bad...it definitely wasn't *good*...I'm sure that the land could be used in a much better way. And it's great that they're finally getting Flashback out of there, instead of letting it sit there and rot. And I agree with Mark regarding a family area that appeals to more than just little kids. The Nickelodeon area at Carowinds comes to mind. There were plenty of things that appealed to very little kids, like little boats or cars that go in circles, a little swing set etc. Then they had stuff that appealed to lots of people, like a small woodie, a set of flyers, the cycle helicopters, the Flying Dutchman's ride, the samba balloons...rides like that keep little kids in the park as well as give adults and teens quality rides that aren't coasters. That type of area is what I think Magic Mountain sorely needs....an area that is geared to *families*, not just *children*. -Julie

Everything looks great to me! Could the Tokyo resort support a third park? Maybe that's where the park concept art is going. And I personally would love to see the Carland at MGM Studios. That park really needs a big infusion to keep it fresh, and this would go really nicely with the relatively new car stunt show there. -Julie
