I need you all to help me win a contest at work!
STR8FXXXINEDGE replied to STR8FXXXINEDGE's topic in Random, Random, Random
Awesome... Thanks a bunch guys! Hopefully more will people give it a chance. There's a ton of stuff on there, including some pretty obscure music that you can't find anywhere else. Thanks again! -
So here's the deal... I'm a Manager at Hot Topic. Hot Topic has started a new music website that is kind of like Myspace, facebook, iTunes, and an awesome Music Merch store all in one. We are having a contest to see who can get the most people to sign up. I have come to you guys because I have seen how much help the TPR community can give! The contest runs till the end of August, so there is plenty of time. All I need you to do is sign up. It's 100% free, and it's super easy to do! Just register and use my referral code, then validate your account through a confirmation e-mail. You don't ever have to visit the site again if you don't want to, but I promise... it's a pretty bad ass website. Especially if you love music! If you like the website, please share it with your friends and family, and remember to give them my referral code to use. The website is www.ShockHound.com My referral code for you to use is: 0460-49985 If you sign up and would like to be friends with me, my user name is STR8FXXXINEDGE, just like my TPR username. Thanks in advance for anyone who helps me out, and even if you don't help me out, thanks for taking the time to read this. But please, help me out! Brian P.S. Thanks a TON to Robb for letting me do this! I promise, if I win, all of my winnings will go toward a giant TPR trip!

JZ's Holiday World Visit May 20th
STR8FXXXINEDGE replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You've got some super awesome photos here. Thanks for sharing! Voyage and El Toro deliver two completely different rides. Both are amazing, though! It's hard for me to decide which I like better. I just about like them equally, but for different reasons. -
I'm pretty good at drinking free water and starving myself all day. Plus, I usually travel with all kinds of crackers and snacks to fill up on to help save money. I'm sure we'll eat at BG no matter what, as we just want to soak in the atmosphere. I love Italian food, so we will most likely check out the Italian restaurant that was mentioned.

We actually don't have any site seeing plans. By site seeing, I meant driving all day and looking at sites out the car windows, haha. Also, I'm not sure if Ghost Town In The Sky will even be happening. Thanks for the tips! Does everything else sound do-able to you? Noted! Thanks for the tips, and I'll do my best to get you a good photo TR of Camden. Anything in particular that you need, or would like to see? These are most likely going to be the 2 PA parks that I hit. Thanks for the advice! Everyone else, please don't hold anything back! I'll take whatever I can get. Thanks again everyone!

That sucks about your laptop Big Mike! I've unfortunately had the same thing happen. Fortunately, the first thing that I do after I upload photos or music to my computer is put it all on a portable hard drive and lock it in my fire/water proof safe, so I never lost anything. Have fun at Holiday World! If I remember correctly, you have never ridden Voyage. If you haven't, you are in for a treat, and if you have, you already know this! P.S. These past few updates have been amazing!

Now that Danny Gokey is gone, I don't care who wins. I was bummed that he got sent home.

So I'm setting out on another adventure and I could use some tips and advice, as I have never been to any of these parks, or states for that matter (Except for PA). I'm taking the best travel partner ever. My Mom! We are going to be traveling from June 19th to the 28th. My plan as of right now which is not yet set in stone is... June 19th - Leave MI very early, stop at Camden Park, WV June 20th - Carowinds, NC June 21st - Drive and site see (Possibly Ghost Town In The Sky, NC. If Cliff Hanger is up and running) June 22nd - Busch Gardens Europe, VA June 23rd - Probably Busch Gardens Europe, VA again. I really wanna soak everything in and enjoy it, and I know my Mom will really like it there. June 24th - Kings Dominion, VA June 25th - Six Flags America, MD June 26th - Possibly one or two of the smaller PA parks that I've never been to (i.e. Conneaut Lake Park, Idlewild, or Lakemont Park). June 27th - Drive Home June 28th - Rest before I head back to work the next day. BOOO! I have a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass, and I am also a member of ACE (Be nice! ) I know that at one of the Cedar Fair parks I can get a cheap ticket for my Mom using my ACE membership card. Please share any tips, tricks, discounts, suggestions, favorite hotels, cheapest hotels, or whatever you may have. Please share your thoughts! All are welcomed. Thanks in advance, Brian

Not that my opinion really matters, but I just want to say that I think the Mods here do a great job. I have been a member of a lot of different forums where the Mods are complete jerks. They would run their mouths and ban people for something as simple as not having the same view or opinion as them. I want to say names and websites so bad, but I'll keep this tasteful. I have been reading Coaster and Amusement Park forums for something like 10 to 12 years now, and I've got to tell you... there are none as fun, and care free (Yes, care free!) as TPR, yet TPR manages to keep a certain quality standard that I have never found on another forum. I don't get where all the negativity is coming from. You'd think people were reading another forum, then accidentally posting their thoughts about it here.

The Parks of Pennsylvania
STR8FXXXINEDGE replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ 10 days and you're only going to those 3 parks? Do you have other site seeing plans? If not, I highly recommend trying to get to some of the other parks. There's so many good little parks that you'd miss, like Kennywood and Waldameer, and quite a few others! Not to mention you're gonna be so close to Dorney while at Knoebels. -

^ I like that! -
The video starts to play immediately for me, but then keeps stopping to load up. I let it load completely before I played it the second time and it took about 6 minutes for it to completely load. After it did load though, it was awesome to watch! I bet that first drop is gonna be fun in the back seat! By the way, I'm running Vista and using Firefox with wireless 5meg Charter cable.

Cedar Point TR: Opening Day 2009
STR8FXXXINEDGE replied to TopThrill182's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great TR! Pretty similar to how my day went as well. The morning started out great, and then slowly got worse till I was ready to leave, but I stuck it out and the weather made a turn for the better, then the rest of the night was amazing! I was just kind of chilling and being lazy, but here were my rides for the day. Started my day out on Maverick. Maverick - 2 Millennium Force - 2 Blue Streak - 1 Mean Streak - 2 Magnum - 2 Gemini - 1 Ended my night on the second to last train on Magnum. I drove in Friday night to process my Platinum Pass and slept in my car, so Saturday morning I was able to get to the park super early. I was in the parking lot by about 7:00 am. I actually met a fellow TPR member that is from California. I either did not get his name, or I can't remember it. Sorry! I do remember that his TPR Username is "Coaster(insert something else)", and he was, I think 42 years old. We actually waited together and talked for a bit at the Soak City park entrance. We then got split up cause he had to get in a different line to use his sister park pass. I looked the whole rest of the day to hopefully meet up with him again, as I was rolling solo, but no luck. If you're reading this, it was great meeting you and chit-chatting. Hope you have a great time on the rest of your trip! EDIT: So I did some research in The Big Mike Road Show thread. In Big Mike's pictures from West Coast Bash, I found the guy that I meet. It turns out that I met "Michael (coasterobsessive)". -
TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index

Here is a photo of the Grand Exposition Coaster at Silver Dollar City. I thought that I had taken more photos of the layout, but this is the only one that I can find. Here is a photo of Patriot at Worlds Of Fun as well, as I don't see a photo of the sign in the index. -

You guys are nuts that think the trains are ugly. They are beautiful! I think the decals/paint on the manta's are supposed to make it look like they are under water, which to me, looks exactly like they are under water with a glare from the top of the water. I can't wait to get down there and ride this thing and check it all out in person.

Erik & Misty's Smoky Mountain Adventures
STR8FXXXINEDGE replied to Electerik's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Another great TR from you. Thanks for sharing! Any chance I could get a High-Res copy of your best photo that you've ever taken of Tennessee Tornado? I would have to say that it is my favorite photo that I have ever seen of it, and I would love to use it as a desktop background. If not, no worries! I also think Tennessee Tornado is the smoothest Arrow that I have EVER been on. I was super surprised the first time I rode it. -
Magnum XL-200 First Rider Auction
STR8FXXXINEDGE replied to CPmaverick's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think this is the same thing as having a Benefit Dinner. You get to donate money to a good cause, get dinner, and you get to have fun and ride magnum. Not only do you just donate, and get to ride, you also get this... Taken from the website: "Successful bidders will receive a ticket to Opening Day, a commemorative T-Shirt, the first two (2) rides of the day on Magnum, a commemorative group photo, lunch at the Breakers East Conference Room, and a commemorative medallion. The medallion will be personally engraved and will be sent to riders some time after the event." People have been eating dinner for thousands of years, but people will still go to benefit dinners. I can only imagine that they will get a decent amount of people to donate. I'm sure people aren't donating to be the first rider of 2009 on Magnum. They are donating to the Red Cross, and just happen to get a bonus thank you from Cedar Point. -

Chuck's Busch Gardens Williamsburg Thread
STR8FXXXINEDGE replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the info, Chuck! We are definitely going to BGW on a weekday. I'm just not sure which one yet. I've been trying to plan everything out, but it just hasn't come together yet. It looks like I'm going to miss the $59.95 Discovery Ticket. Bummer! If they do have the Amigos, it sounds like that would definitely be the way to go. I remember pushing her around Dorney and SFOG in a wheelchair. I thought I was going to pass out! She can do some stairs as long as she takes breaks, so I don't think the River Cruise should be a problem. She just can't walk long distances for a long period of time, and hills just about kill her. We are also going to Kings Dominion, Six Flags America, Carowinds, and possibly Camden and maybe some other smaller parks. We'll see how much time we have, and how much everything is going to cost. This is probably going to be my last big trip till I'm done with school, so I wanna go all out! I like the idea for the new segment. It could most definitely come in handy for some families. Thanks again for the info! If you have any other tips or suggestions, I'd be more than happy to hear them. -
