  1. Am I the only one not excited by this? I need to see how this pans out before I'm sold. I don't have the greatest faith in BGA to pull this off.
  2. The pre drop doesn't seem to make any difference in speed from my standpoint. Kraken here has one and all it does is set it up for the first drop. Same situation with apollo's chariot. Maybe it is a physics thing, I don't know.
  3. Well considering I've never been to Cedar Point I can't say if it's the best, but I will say I find that hard to believe. What are the standards they go by? I was happy to see a few things on the list, like Spiderman, Rock n Rollercoaster and Ripsaw Falls. Rock n Rollercoaster has a special place in my heart since it's what got me into coasters (note the avatar ). But ripsaw falls best water ride? It's good, but not great. The drops are good but the theming is sparse. Again, I'm wondering what standards they used.
  4. Wow, that's crazy. I saw the thread title and thought "Huh?" He was such a young guy and one of the few people I recognized on the boards. I love the idea of running maverick once empty in his memory, I don't know how possible that would be though. Just goes to show you we NEVER know what will happen. The most we or anyone can do is be there for his family and friends.
  5. Let me put it this way, I heard that Christmas day last year Magic Kingdom, MGM and Animal Kingdom all hit capacity. The same thing happens on New Year's day as well, except it's usually Epcot that hits capacity first. Hmmm...3.5 hour wait for Soarin' anyone? The week between christmas and new years is thier busiest week of the year. AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS. Universal will be just as bad. Like scappari said, late Jan everything is a walk on, so you might want to shoot for that. I have no idea what BGA is like christmas and new years but my guess would be it's just as busy.
  6. I have so much more respect for everyone here now. I saw the topic and thought "this will get very ugly very quickly" and it hasn't. That being said, I consider myself conservative first, republican second. Definitely right leaning here.
  7. PKD, three I missed, one involuntarily, two because I'm not into pain. I missed Flight of Fear because for whatever reason it was closed the day I went (and wasn't on any of the signs around the park...hmm...). Also voluntarily skipped Hypersonic and Rebel Yell (backwards). Chuck (cfc) warned me that the break on XLC was VERY painful and considering I could hear the break through most of the park, I skipped it. After riding the forwards side of rebel yell I decided I had had enough pain for the day. Grizzly was bad enough, god knows I'll never forget that shed of death...
  8. I'm a teller for a large bank on the east coast (think blue and green ) and NO JOKES ABOUT GETTING PEOPLE EXTRA MONEY!!!! I've heard it ALL, trust me....
  9. OK, to be fair the Hulk does have a fantastic start (the launch is awesome) and kind of fizzles out after the second loop. It's a good coaster, not a great one. Kumba at BGA is far superior. That being said DD is awesome, there's nothing quite like it anywhere. I highly reccomend IOA and USF, you'll love both of them.
  10. Like any of the parks down here, IOA/USF can get busy depending on the time of year. Typicially during the summer, over christmas, and during spring break to a certain extent. Yes, DD can get VERY busy (I've seen it with an hour wait regularly during the busy seasons). Also, about Disney...I suppose if you're a CP kinda guy, i.e. only the biggest, fastest, most intense coasters will satisfy you, Disney won't do a thing for you. If you like a large variety of high quality rides and shows with amazing theming (some of the best in the world), you'll have a LOT of fun. Oh, and there are some pretty decent coasters there too. I love my annual pass to WDW and I will have one until I move away from Orlando.
  11. Hmm, longest I've ever waited is 2 hours for expedition everest on annual passholder preview weekend. I was with my roommate and a buddy of his so at least I had company. All I got was a laniard and a special edition pin out of it...oh well.
  12. hmmm, I'm very interested in the east coast trip, besides it would give me and excuse to get back to BGE (I <3 Apollo's Chariot) and ride Volcano again (mmm...TWO launches). I was at both places last week and had a blast, can't imagine BGE with the tpr crew Elissa I need to contact you about payment options, but other than that I think I'm in.
  13. Well, after finally having done Griffon yesterday I have to say that the floorless feature didn't really make a difference in the second row. However, it does have the slight edge over Sheikra because of the second immelman and the faster lift hill (at least it seemed faster to me). The ride was AMAZING. Somehow this doesn't surprise me. I was there last sunday most of the day and Sheikra was down when I got there. It came back up for about 30 min early afternoon then went right back down again for the rest of the day. Fortunately all three trains I saw were in the loading station.
  14. Heh, you gotta laugh at the corporate spin doctors. Press release translation: "our contract with MGM ran out so we had to think of something to call it that wasn't Disney Studios", which would have been just fine, but Disney's Hollywood Studios? I don't hate the name, but it will take some getting used to I'll give them that. The next thing they need to do is completely gut the great movie ride and put something else there.
  15. Adrenaline, I THINK it was right before the seance room. It had these large, very fake looking spiders on very fake looking spiderwebs that vibrated slightly. Like jedimaster said, pretty much a waste of space.
  16. Very cool animal pics. Big animal lover here, there reason why I really enjoy SWO and the Animal Kingdom (WDW).
  17. In addition, the spider scene is gone and is replaced by some sort of "stair" scene. Oh, and it has new audio now which is wonderful considering half the time the audio didn't work on whichever doom buggy I was riding. Also according to the Mickey Monitor, Passholder access Sep 14 thru 16 from 9 to noon. I've heard the special effects at Disneyland are impressive so I'm glad to be getting them here finally.
  18. I also like that pic of Kraken zooming past you, when you're standing there behind the gate you can feel it go WHOOOOSH thru the corkscrew. I'm glad you had fun there, I actually really enjoy SeaWorld, it makes for a nice relaxing day in comparison to the intensity of Universal. Besides, I love the animals, particularly those seals in the bay...they're very demanding.
  19. My goodness this topic is a loaded gun. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for. If you're into hard core coasters and thrill rides, disney is definitely NOT the place for you. That being said, I'd take WDW over BGA any day. I was there for the first time in months yesterday...the employees were rude, the park was dirty (trash and people smoking everywhere) and everything I rode needed noticable refurb with the exception of Montu. It is very rare that you find any of those things at any of the WDW parks. Therefore, I don't mind paying more for something that is of superior quality. Bring on the Disney fanboy accusations baby.....
  20. I dunno, I saw The Bourne Ultimatum this weekend and that had a friggin' spectacular crash in it involving Jason Bourne, a hitman and a hijacked cop car. Awesome movie btw, very raw, everyone MUST see it.
  21. Hmm...as punishment, someone should pour gasoline over one of them and light them with a match and see how funny they think it is. Not so funny now, is it?
  22. SPOILERS PEOPLE!!!!!! Some people have complained here about the ending, Harry's death and how he came back. What was brilliant is how she made it all work out. Voldemort's death was perfect too, seeing how he's spent years and years looking for ways to overcome death and ultimately how his fear of death and his lust for power and immortality was his undoing. He brought his destruction on himself. And someone described Mrs. Weasley's quote as her "Aliens moment" LOVED it. "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!!!" Bellatrix finally got what was coming to her.
  23. I think it's ironic many people have said Chamber of Secrets so far, it was actually my least favorite book, with Prizoner of Azkaban being my favorite. Half Blood Prince is right behind it, but it felt like set up for Deathly Hallows (I'm only four chapters into it, don't spill the beans people...)
  24. No, it's either one of the Star Oceans or Tales of Phantasia...
  25. Great...spectacular...now they'll really have a reason to chase people (maily teenage girls) with chainsaws! I guess they've learned their lesson with IOA since they've had it at USF two years in a row now. It's a much better venue for the show (which scares the poo out of me but I go anyway )
