Breaking - Big News Out of #LakemontPark Lakemont Park, a longstanding attraction in the Altoona area, announces significant changes for the 2024 Spring/Summer season. The Park grounds have been a focal point for our community for 130 years, and how the land has been used continues to evolve based on the needs of Blair County residents. As our community grows, develops, and changes, Lakemont Park has to adapt and change, too. This 2024 season at Lakemont Park will look different than in years past, as we transition to new and improved events and activities to serve our guests better. The 2024 season will feature four batting cages, four basketball courts, two volleyball courts, two mini-golf courses, and ten pavilions. Notably, the amusement rides, including Skyliner and Leap The Dips, will not be operational during the summer season due to declining attendance, increased maintenance costs of two wooden rollercoasters and rides, and other financial challenges. Andrea Cohen, President of Lakemont Park, expressed, “This was a difficult decision to make. We hope our community will find new ways to enjoy our beautiful grounds as we update the Lakemont Park experience.” Some things will not change. Lakemont Park will continue to host the Central Blair Recreation Commission Men’s Summer League. The Park will also continue to host school picnics in the spring as well as the camps in the summer. And, planning for the 2024 Holiday Lights on the Lake is already underway, as we are excited to continue hosting this longtime tradition. Lakemont Park land, owned by Blair County, is intended for parks and recreation. “We met with a few businesses and organizations to use the grounds for recreational sporting events and welcome the opportunity to discuss new business ventures,” noted Cohen. We invite collaboration with the community to explore new uses and improvements and we are open to renting our facilities for community events, including music festivals, craft shows, car shows, fundraising walks, yard sales, and more. Special discounted tickets for mini-golf groups of 20 or more are available, and classic yard games can be rented through the office. The four baseball/softball batting cages cater to both team usage and individuals of all ages for practice and entertainment. At ACE Winterfest this weekend the park announced Rampage will not open in 2024. They are searching for a refurb partner.

Not advertised. But it's there and will appear on mobile ordering for verification. I was sort of surprised it didn't appear at other parks. I am not talking about membership dining plans. This is for 2024 diamomd season passes and dining plans purchased since August. Not a huge deal but I thought it was interesting.

Heads up, the new dining plans include a snack currently when visiting Over Georgia. Only park I'm aware of that gives you a snack credit for the day with the new plans. I thought it would have been quickly updated but still going since August when they were released.

I think people are more surprised that Six Flags has the most expensive food in the industry now.

Starting today, SFoG, Great Adventure, and probably more, have added a $0.99 surcharge to all transactions in the park "due to increase labor and supply costs." Signs include the poor grammar.

Screamscape, FWIW, is suggesting the log flume addition/refresh has been cancelled. Engineering costs seem to be the problem. Funds for the project are staying at the park according to rumors.

North America's first B&M family invert coming next year.

It's been leaked for awhile now. Some track is also on site and construction is moving along. This is the first word from the park, though. Sounds like a cool family ride.

You may want to take Bonine/Dramamine the night before and day of. Or some scopolamine. Might help with nausea and head aches. I used to ride all day without issue. Now I need medication if I'm riding more than a few things.

Thanks for the reminder on this. Keep forgetting to swing by there. Sucks they didn't warn you about the Fright Fest 2 hour no entry policy. I didn't realize they did until I saw a discussion about it this weekend. Otherwise, seems like you had pretty good day.

New 2 meal dining plan at SFoG also includes a snack like the old food plans. Other parks doing this as well? Nice little unadvertised bonus currently.

Below is how I do Saturday's at SFoG. Fun Spot opens at 10am. I'd probably still suggest SFoG first. FYI: It's about 30-40 min between the two parks. Could hit AF at 10am for a few rides and still get to SFoG by 1130, but that's rushing it and hoping AF1 is running at open. It's common for gates at SFoG to open a half hour before posted time. TC and Scorcher should also be running for that half hour before they open the rest of the park.
