Club TPR is Coming in March!
traincrossin replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can SEE it. Interesting thing though, when I highlight the page I see the word "bakken". I know it's the name of a park, but could it mean anything else? A hint perhaps? -
Shockwave was plagued with operational issues throughout its lifetime. Due to the speed and stress of the first vertical loop a track fracture developed and needed attention on a regular basis in order to remain safe for operation. The wheels for the ride were quite expensive and, according to some ride operators, wore out quickly which required a vigilant crew and frequent closures for a period of ten to fifteen minutes for maintenance staff to be dispatched to change them out. And as for S:UF, they have added lots of trees, hills, and other shrubbery to the once dirt land. Sure, a tunnel would be cool, but they have made improvements and I think it looks great. Although you might not like the clone, many people i've talked to love that flying sensation. As someone mentioned before, it's a family ride and won't appeal to you. I still see plenty of lines for that ride during the summer. I rode Buccaneer Battle and thought it was a great interactive water ride. We lost Splash Water falls and got another water attraction with great capacity and theming. It's because of that capacity you never see a long line for it, but you always see people manning the water guns on the midway. Deja Vu was also plagued with problems. Because of this, I was never able to ride it during its entire operation. It is much smarter to invest in something that will actually work for a long time then pour tons of cash into a capacity and problem nightmare. I, like many, love Whizzer. It is a classic and many people and families would be sad to see it go. And Demon is one of the best Arrow loopers still around. it isn't terribly tough, plus many of my younger cousins love that ride. It is still popular. While Six Flags Great America hasn't had a major thrill attraction in a couple years, they have added lots of family and kiddie attractions which the park has lacked. I think it is great to see that they are rounding off the park and focusing on everyone. I'm sure we'll continue to see those improvements and larger ones in the coming seasons. \End Rant

^Really? What makes you say that Six Flags doesn't have a plan for our park? I'm intrigued because nothing i've heard or read has prompted me to think that. In fact, it seems like they are paying lots of attention to the park with many of the small improvements they're making and the bigger ones like the Glow in the Park Parade and Little Dipper.

TPR's New Forum UPGRADE!

^^That should be something you can change in your internet browser settings, not the TPR forum. -

^Try using the normal url, not the "subscriber" one and see if that works. -
TPR's New Forum UPGRADE!

I like the new forums, but as people have said before it will take some getting used to. Someone mentioned this before, but is there any way to hide the calender? I can't put my finger on it but it stands out more than it used to. Here are some random things i've noticed on the new forums. As you can see, the username runs over onto the forum. Here's a nitpicky thing, but the Online banner is covering up part of their title. Not a big deal. -

Here's a quick update. Looks like they've got part of the second drop up. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/webcams/index.cfm -
Best attraction ever?
traincrossin replied to djrappa's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I remember reading stories of how tons of people got hurt on that thing. Here's what robot programmers do on their day off. It's like a homemade KUKA robot arm ride. Watch your head though. -

The first bits of steel have started to go up along with parts of the lift. Right now they're working on getting the rest of the ride up along with building the concrete flume part of the ride. There are a couple more construction pictures in their photo gallery. -
They also posted a picture of Space Shuttle America's removal with the caption "Space Shuttle America has been removed for future expansion." I'm glad they posted some pictures of the park in the winter! It's always nice to see coasters in the snow and some behind the scenes shots. Recap: -Little Dipper going in Bugs Bunny National Park where the climbing structure was. Cars have arrived. -Space Shuttle America removed for future expansion -"The County Fair Games have been removed. Why?! Stay tuned to find out." -"The Farmers Market is being reworked to the County Fair Food Court complete with additional shade structures."

The "Preview" Thread

I'm pretty sure this element is in the game ThrillVille: Off the Rails, except it had rings of fire. Still very cool! -
Erik & Misty's Smoky Mountain Adventures

I just started reading your adventures recently and it sucks that you won't be able to continue them. Thanks for the wonderful reports and I hope you make another thread for your Orlando adventures. -

But why? Kinda sucks that the mini-golf was neglected like that, even if it was the off-season. That would actually seem like the best time to fix it. Oh, +1 for slot cars. I still have some, they're lots of fun. -
So I guess they won't be getting rid of Mr. Six anytime soon. When will the poor guy retire/die? This sounds like a great addition to Magic Mountain and hopefully it will bring in more families to the park. I really hope they won't be playing "We Like to Party" everytime they dispatch a train though.
