  1. They really are fun rides, way better than frog hoppers IMO. Thanks for all of the comments guys. Six Flags Great America opening day trip report is coming up next! I'm only posting this so that my next report will be on the 3rd page. Nothing worse than waiting for tons of pictures to load. Mods can combine them if they want.
  2. This is looking great Ryan! I can't wait to see more. So far the park and entrance area look very good. Only critique right now would be sure to use lots of different types of trees and shrubbery all around the ride and park.
  3. This is very cool! It's always sweet to see backstage pictures of Disney rides. Now I actually kinda want to get stuck on a ride and get evaced. Now how did the sub break down? Do you know?
  4. I was wearing a grey TPR hoodie when we were all looking at that cool model, you might have seen me. Viper was running great in the morning but wasn't so good later in the day. I know in the morning th train didn't slow down at the top of the lift hill like it normally does, but later in the day it did. That does look like Chang track, still have no idea where it may be heading. The friendliness of employees is definitely getting better and that makes for a more enjoyable day. Yes, I did notice ride ops promoting other rides. maybe they're encouraging people to do more than just ride coasters? I do think that everyone i've met from TPR are super cool and I love hanging out with all of you guys.
  5. I had tons of fun today! It was so great to meet up with everyone. I'm glad that it didn't rain at all and that there was barely anyone in the park. Overall an amazing day! I also don't like the advertising all over Whizzer. A random sign on a coaster is fine, but those Karate Kid ads were EVERYWHERE!!! They were on the side of the building, on the trains, on the side of the little roof in the Whizzer station, ads on every wall in line, and even the exit walls! I just think they went overboard with this one. Little Dipper is looking great so far! Once it's done, i'm sure that many families will be going over to that side of the park more. Magiquest looked kinda fun and there were a couple interactive bits on the outside if people wanted to try it out. I don't like how they just repainted everything over there though. The new yellow colors just don't match the patriotic ones of Revolution and American Eagle. I agree with Q, go check out the 1978 park scale replica! There were many people looking at it and sharing memories of the "good ol' days". It's great to see park history like this. I took lots of pictures and hopefully enough video to make an antic video and a professional one. Hopefully i'll get those together in the next couple of weeks, but i'll be super busy with school so we'll see what happens.
  6. Thanks Elissa! We're still going to have a ton of fun! Plus the weather will probably deter some of those pesky crowds. Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow, it's been a long off-season
  7. No mater what the weather is like we'll still have a blast! Maybe we'll have a bumper-car tournament or a Dark Knight marathon, who knows? I just can't wait to see you guys again
  8. ^But then it technically wouldn't be a tunnel. And of course if it isn't a tunnel we can't say "TAKE THE TUNNEL!!!" Shoot the Rapids has definitely exceeded my original expectations. Hopefully the ride experience will as well.
  9. First up are random updates from around the park. MaXair got some new paint and the only thing in the spot that Demon Drop used to occupy is dirt. April 19, 2010 Blog Cedar Point is having an auction to be one of the first riders for Shoot the Rapids. April 21, 2010 Blog And now for some Shoot the Rapids pictures! Here are a couple before and after pics. Before After. Notice the water cannons at the bottom? Before After Some people have said that there may be some theming in the tunnel, but based on its size it would be very minimal. Gates have been installed An overview of Shoot the Rapids. Look, the waterfalls are running! Of course more pictures can be found in their construction gallery. April 15, 2010 Construction April 19, 2010 Construction
  10. I think that this idea is great. While the Six Flags app only works on iPhones and the Disney app only works on Verizon smartphones, pretty much every phone out there has texting available. Now does anyone know if this is a free service or will you have to pay for it? (not including standard texting rates)
  11. They reveal quite a few things about the vamped up version of Terror Twister 2: A Turn For The Worse on that voting page. I picked Soundstorm, thought that one was pretty cool. Here's a cool video of REMIX4 from last year.
  12. Happy Birthday Nathan!! Glad you liked your gift All credit goes to Cameron though, it was his idea.
  13. ^Usually drop tower cars are parked at the top when they're not in use to protect the cables which are on the inside of the tower.I know here at SFGAm they keep the cars at the top during the winter. And as for them all dropping at random times, I guess that's just its ride cycle. I mean they all drop within a couple seconds of each other and I doubt they open the restraints unless all of the cars are at the bottom. I actually kinda like the random drop times, it's kinda like Russian roulette and makes people even more apprehensive.
  14. ^I think that the 2009 park map was posted online in February last year, so I don't know when it will be online this year. From waht i've heard though you can see the 2010 map on the new Six Flags iPhone app.
  15. The only thing that I think they would change because of insurance would be the seatbelts that they added to Little Dipper.
  16. If the rumors are true and that layout is true, then this will be one massive ride! I mean two launches? Not unheard of, yet if Intiman is making this ride i'm sure it will definitely pack a punch. Quick question, but where else can Busch Garden's Tampa expand? I mean it looks like this ride is all over the place and they will have to either get rid of or move part of Rhino Ralley to squeeze it in. What other land does Busch have available to them?
  17. Hmm, I might have to go Sunday as well then. TPR Midwest barbeque and sleepover anyone?
  18. Great pictures as always Griffin. I wonder if namtaB will receive a new coat of paint like all of the other Batman's in the chain. As for your Club TPR shirt, I wouldn't be surprised if there were swarms of girls hiding behind the camera, especially with that manly pose I still need to join Club TPR.
  19. I should be there opening day along with my Dad! I don't think he met anyone last year. These TPR meets are always so much fun and I had a blast last year. It's going to be great seeing both old and new friends.
  20. ^Zippin Pippin at Libertyland was left standing for many years and was deteriorating. Part of it actually collapsed and none (or very little) of the wood was salvageable. So Bay Beach bought the original design and decided to build it from scratch while trying to still keep that "classic" feel for less money than designing a new wooden coaster.
  21. ^What is that a park map of? It doesn't look like Hurricane Harbor.
  22. OMG, those Hoodie Vinylmation figures are awesome! I'm glad you guys are progressing with Hoodie the Threequel among all of your other projects. I'm excited for all of them!
  23. Screamscape posted this video and although it's about the huge number of job applicants theme parks are seeing, at 55 seconds in you can catch a quick glimpse of Little Dipper construction. What they missed, however, is that at 1:05 in you can see part of a Chang train in storage.
