  1. Hey guys! I was finally able to upload my Six Flags Great America music video from opening day and I think that it's my best one yet. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=SFGAm4-24-10_z6hb[/coastertube] Six Flags Great America Grad Night/Coasters After Class April 30th, 2010 The Friday after opening day was Grad Night/Coasters After Class and I went down with some of my friends hoping for minimal crowds. There was barely anyone there and a couple bands spread out around the park. We took a ride on Raging Bull towards the end of the night. As we were on the lift hill, it started POURING down on us We were drenched by the time we got back to the station. It rained for the rest of the night. We ran over to Dark Knight and got numerous re-rides on it. Overall it was a fun night! So we made it to the park and what do we hear? Techno music! That's right, there's a DJ in Carousal Plaza for Grad Night! I actually didn't like where the DJ was in front of the carousal because there was no place to dance Whizzer is still the Karate Kid *sigh* One of these days the park will be sunny when I go Raging Bull above the trees! *GASP* Where are his pants? THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!! Hmm, this could make a sweet wallpaper. Much better! Superman's second train was still being put together on the transfer track. Hmm, maybe this would look better in black and white? Amazing what a little editing can do! That one green pipe is gone. Looking good! Here was a band over in Mardi Gras Cajun got stuck for some reason, anyone know why? These pics are old. Little Dipper has definitely come a long way since then! You can see one car on the track. Maybe a sign of things to come? After this it started pouring and I wasn't able to get anymore pics. Overall Grad Night was fun with very few crowds!
  2. ^While those rides are pretty cool, from what i've heard they're maintenance nightmares.
  3. As much as i'd love a new coaster and as much as i'd love Chang to be converted into a floorless coaster and rethemed, I just don't think Great America really needs it more than other parks in the Six Flags chain. It will be a fun and "new" attraction though, I just think Six Flags St. Louis or Six Flags America could have benefited from this more. Little Dipper is looking great! I can't wait to ride it
  4. What an amazing event! It looks like everyone had a ton of fun! I was cracking up just looking at the Tony Hawk Water Challenge pics Who won that? It's really cool to see all of the behind the scenes stuff as well. I didn't go to Bay Area Bash, but I still want to thank Discovery Kingdom and Great America for treating Theme Park Review so well!
  5. It's looking good so far. Don't forget about scenery, landscaping, and adding hills while making the park. Can't wait to see more
  6. ^For certain rides, like Demon, yes. For Raging Bull they would just hold up the normal line and let a bunch of people with Flash Passes go. It all depends on how integrated the Flash Pass line is. For most rides it works fine, others not so much.
  7. That's been there since sometime last year. Flash Pass works the best when it merges with the original line, but for rides like Demon where the Flash Pass entrance is at the exit, they block off rows which causes backups for those in the Flash Pass line.
  8. Does anybody else see what's wrong with Cedar Point's reputation? They're known for their coasters and are known to add a brand new one every couple of years. Even though they have a bunch of flatrides and a kiddy section, Cedar Point is known as a thrill seeker's paradise. They added a new family log flume this year and parts of the general public are complaining. I think that Shoot the Rapids was a good investment, but until the general public understands and appreciates these non-coaster additions, I think that Cedar Point will be in trouble in the long run.
  9. ^Well we can see a line going in, but until they put in some gates I don't think we would know. Little Dipper really is coming along! Can't wait until it opens.
  10. I'm just wondering what the effects of this "wait and see" strategy would be. By doing this you'd be saving millions of dollars. Of course some people would be disappointed that there isn't a new attraction, but I don't think that would affect attendance that much. Or maybe instead of investing millions into a new ride, they could simply improve what they already have on a much smaller budget.
  11. Actually I think that one of the cars is on site. There are better pictures of it, but if you look in the picture above you can see a tarp covering something in the station.
  12. First Whizzer, now Demon, what's next? I just think that it's getting out of hand.
  13. Because that would require more employees which would cost more money for Six Flags?
  14. Official Six Flags Press Release: http://investors.sixflags.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=61629&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1425986 I really didn't see this coming. Things have definitely improved in the parks under the Shapiro reign so I really don't know where they'll go from here. I can only hope for the best. Does anyone know if the reasoning behind Shapiro's removal?
  15. Oh I know, those Dippin Dots are irresistible! Great report! I've never really heard much about Darien Lake, but it seems like a nice place. Sorry the weather didn't really work out for you, sounds like a typical opening day at Six Flags Great America.
  16. Wait, Shoot the Rapids only has four boats? I would have thought that they would have more than that like other log flumes. I mean if they're using a block system it makes sense, but i'm still kind of surprised.
  17. Haha, I knew it would be tested a lot, I just didn't know that they needed to test it so many times when they're only adding new trains. I thought it would be more around 500. Well these are the first Timberliners ever made. Everything doesn't always work correctly the first time. Ever buy something, tried it at home, and then sent it back because it needed repair? Regardless it tests so many times just to make sure that it's safe. I can't wait to ride the Voyage this summer!
  18. Didn't work for me. Maybe first rider bidding is done? EDIT: Just tried http://www.firelandsredcross.org/ as well and that didn't work. I think the entire site may be down.
  19. I don't think anyone really knows why, they just did. The old Avalanche signage is still up everywhere.
  20. That drop is intense, very very intense.
  21. It's dissapointing to see Riverview cutting back like this and losing most of their "thrill" rides. From my understanding, most of Riverview's rides were leased anyways. I don't know if you can blame this entirely on the conomy though. Maybe Riverview just isn't that big of an attraction in the Dells anymore?
  22. Actually, this patent reveals that Disney had the "Talking Mickey" technology since 1994. Yea, 1994. I think that this might be the first time that the public has seen it. http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-news/theme-parks/patent-disney-talking-mickey-technology-20-years/
  23. For everyone asking what the crowds will be like on certain days, I found 2010 Crowd Expectations from The Point Online. Definitely read what's already been said about those physics days from previous posters though.
