  1. That is some awesome technology! I think that Disney will probably use these talking heads for those new and improved meet and greets in the Fantasyland expansion. Now does anyone know how they work?
  2. ^I say keep The Demon Song as your ringtone Jon Nice vid Griffin!
  3. Huh, it's working fine now. Not sure what the problem was. Needed time to process? Anyways, glad it's working.
  4. Because these are the first Timberliner trains ever made (besides the prototype), I think that Holiday World would want to wait and see if they really do perform like they're supposed to before buying additional trains for either the Voyage, Legend, or Raven. I mean they're not the cheapest investment, but hopefully it will pay off in the long run in terms of maintenance costs.
  5. Sorry for the double post, but it looks like Shoot the Rapids was testing today!
  6. I couldn't find the official Coastertube help thread and I didn't want to start a new topic. I just noticed that there is a large gap between the quality of videos from when you are watching on Coastertube and when you are watching the video embedded in the forum. I just thought that I would bring it to your attention. http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=SFGAm4-24-10antics_x5d9 http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=889163#p889163 On Coastertube Same video but embedded in the forum And for comparison, the video as seen on my computer
  7. You got a much prettier day than I did Jon, nice trip report. We gotta meet up sometime this season, i'm sure that we'll have plenty of opportunities!
  8. Expedition GeForce won't open until the TüV allows it to. There is no neeed to rush their inspection, especially when people's safety is on the line. So it will open when Holiday Park and the TüV says that the ride is safe. Could be days, weeks, months, who knows.
  9. And now it's time for the moment that you've all been waiting for, the opening day antics video!!! Hopefully the video shows how much fun we all had together that day I have my other SFGAm coaster video edited, I just need to upload that sometime. I have no idea what happened to the quality guys, it looks fine on my computer but pixelated on Coastertube. I'll try reuploading things sometime. Enjoy the video! EDIT: Quality is better now, maybe it just needed some time to process. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=SFGAm4-24-10antics_x5d9[/coastertube]
  10. I think that eventually the PTCs will go go to Darien Lake, they just needed them for the Voyage right now because the Timberliner's aren't ready yet. And I think it was mentioned that there will only be 2 Timberliner trains, someone correct me if i'm wrong.
  11. Here's a video update from Will Koch himself about the new Timberliner trains.
  12. It's snowing?!?! Maybe instead of watersides you'll just let people go down the snowy slides in tubes and ice skate on the lazy river Hope everything works out!
  13. I'm sure that there will be a ton. Just from looking at trip reports from previous years, the "ERT" is really just the park open for a couple extra hours. Isn't CoasterMania over a couple days now? Maybe that would help the crowds a bit.
  14. I agree, those Timberliners look great! No, there won't be a seatbelt which should improve capacity a bit. And I believe that the Timberliners were delayed and I think that they said that they weren't going to be ready by opening day.
  15. I may be completely wrong, but I believe that the trains do have emergency brakes built in. No offense there traincrossin, but with Norman's experience (he's made it clear in previous posts that he's done work with Stengel designs on several of Intamin's coasters) I would think he probably knows what he's talking about. --Robb None taken, I learn something new everyday. Since Voyager just answered how the train would slow down in this situation, then what prevents the train from completely derailing?
  16. I may be completely wrong, but I believe that the trains do have emergency brakes built in. I know that in 1998 on the Demon at SFGAm, a guide wheel separated from the axle of the last car. A mechanical safety system built into the wheel assembly engaged which prevented the train from derailing. I think that a similar situation happened here when the wheel assembly on Expedition GeForce failed. I'm just glad that the safety system worked and people aren't seriously hurt because it could have been much worse. Hopefully the European media won't make a big deal out of this like they would here in the states.
  17. I find that to be a perfectly acceptable excuse.
  18. Nice report Natan! (yes, I spelled it that way on purpose ) Surprisingly King Chaos didn't hurt me as much as I thought it would. Confusing that ride op on Dark Knight was fun. Such a great day! You also forgot the first time appearance of father Patrick
  19. Got some fresh Six Flags and Disney maps. If it's the last one of a map or brochure, it will be singular at the end. PM me if you want to trade! 20. But I want ice cream! I do think that the Funatics reward program is very nice for season pass holders.
  21. I'd take that any day as well. I also recieved a front of the line pass through Funatics, glad it works! Progress is being made on those videos. And don't worry Jo, i'm not including your Lady Gaga dance (but you still owe me ice cream). I'm going to the park again this Friday for Coasters After Class/Grad Night so expect even more pictures!
  22. Who wants ice cream?! What flavor? You mean Turn of the Century. Whoops, sorry about that. You know it's yellow and twisty, maybe they were planning on adding Chang all along? Isn't that the dolphin show or something that was in the outdoor amphitheater?
  23. ^Maybe I haven't started editing the videos yet so there's still plenty of time to bribe me
  24. Nope, not this year. Just posted my photo trip report from opening day with everyone. Check it out! http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=886284#p886284
  25. Six Flags Great America opening day with the Midwest TPR gang!!! April 24th, 2010 So yesterday was Six Flags Great America's opening day and I had a blast! The weather forecast said that it was going to rain most of the day, but the rain held off and we didn't get drenched! It was very foggy, but the forecast scared away lots of crowds! There were not many people there that day. The longest we probably had to wait was either for food or 15 minutes for Superman which was only running one train. Pretty much everything was open which was very nice. A couple rides only had one train running (Superman, Eagle, Whizzer put a second train on later in the day), but the crowds were never that bad. Little Dipper is coming along nicely and is looking great so far. Magiquest looks kinda fun, i'm sure it will appeal to some people and hated by others. The park staff was very friendly this trip which is always a plus. I can't stress enough how much fun I had hanging out all day with TPR peeps, I always have a great time with all of you! If you haven't come out and said hi, you're missing out! I got a new camera for Christmas and I took lots of "artsy" shots. I'll put in a couple pictures of the gang, but you guys will probably find more once I post them on Facebook. I also got tons of video so hopefully i'll be able to make an antic video AND a normal video. Those should hopefully be up in a couple weeks, but the end of the school year is coming up so no guarantees. Enough talking, how about some pictures? So our day started out with lots of rain on the drive down to SFGAm. The rain held up, but it was VERY foggy that day. You couldn't even see Giant Drop from the parking lot! Hey Columbia Carousel, looking nice today. Of course what was the first thing we noticed upon entering the park? Bananafarians! Stupid tree... Good morning Viper! You're looking, um, woody today. OMG, a train! Apologies in advance for the lack of trains in pictures, I was probably busy filming and having fun! New character meet and greet areas have been added around the park. Next up would be Raging Bull. Forget pictures with the sun in the background, go cloudy and overcast pics! They've added these dots in line for Bull and a couple other rides. Hi guys! Stupid lightpost ruining my shot... Giant Drop I like how this one turned out. Are you ready for the Glow in the Park Parade? No? What about The Karate Kid presents The Whizzer? I'm not a big fan of the ads plastered all over Whizzer. I mean a couple are alright... But I think they went overboard with this one. Spirally goodness Trees = good MANLY POSE!!! I like the contrast of colors here. I spy some TPR members! Everyone's probably seen this pic already, but have you seen it in the fog?!?! There is a shark in this picture which instantly makes this photo tr cool. We actually did see some people on Buccaneer Battle even though it was so cold out you could see your breath. New roof over the food court. Also new this year is Magiquest. While I think the entire concept is cool, it is pricey. Plus it took over most of the County Fair area. Our group was asked to be filmed. We might be in a commercial sometime soon. TPR represent!!! Accessories you can get for your wand. You get to battle virtual monsters. Kinda cool right? Right? They had a couple areas outside of Magiquest to kinda test it out. Revolution doing its thing American Eagle Iron Wolf actually looks kinda peaceful in this pic Nope, still hurts Spaceley's takeover! Little Dipper is opening on Memorial Day weekend! Vertical Velocity Now time for some "fancy" Batman shots I see you Little Dipper! TWISTY!!! This one turned out well. Currently my desktop background Rode King Chaos for the first time, very fun ride! Superman Watch out for that tree! I spy something grey... Fly! A green pipe? For what? Now this is REALLY cool, it's a scale model of the park from the Marriott days. Look, there's Whizzer! Demon. Sorry about the glare guys, couldn't do anything about it. Carousel Plaza Seriously, this thing was awesome. There was a small crowd around it just remembering those good ol' days. Sky Whirl! Bring back more Great America history, I loved it! Very mature guys. Random t-shirt Hometown Fun Machine and Whizzer Backside of Whizzer. I want to walk on that boardwalk, I think it would be cool. The Orbit I think this looks cool. Raging Bull Raging Bull They're replacing 90% of the wood on Little Dipper. They've still got some work to do, hopefully it will be open on time! And one night shot before my camera died. Thanks for a great day everyone! Be on the lookout for those videos.
