  1. It looks like you all had a very fun time! Very nice report Jo, you should take pictures more often It's been fun to read everyone's trip reports from Little Ammericka (there have been around 5ish). It's also fun to try and spot other people taking pictures in someone elses pictures or POV. Congratz for having your report on the front page, it's a big honor.
  2. According to reports on Twitter, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has hit capacity and the line to get in is over 9 hours long. Here's a video of the giant line. I think Universal has a winner on their hands, but part of me is wondering if crowd control could have been better.
  3. ^I know a lot of people would LOVE to convert Chang to a floorless and give it a whole new theme, but those are really only dreams simply because there is no real evidence to back that up. The coaster will (hopefully) bring in the crowds that Six Flags wants. Why fix something or change something when there's nothing wrong with it? Plus it was already said in that zoning meeting that a relocated standup coaster by B&M was coming. Any chances of Chang becoming a floorless are very slim at this point. Oh, in a news video posted a while ago, there was a brief glimpse of a Chang train backstage so Great America does have them. From what i've heard, Chang is one of the smoothest standup coasters out there. Hopefully it will be better than Iron Wolf
  4. ^Do you know how much it is for 2 climbs? I heard it's either $10 or $14.
  5. I'm scared of Mad Mouse just by looking at that video! At 0:28 you can spot the support just pop up! I gotta get out to Little Ammericka sometime. Nice report Jeremie!
  6. I think Meteor has more time to break in than Little Dipper. Nice report Jon! I like Gavin's gloves, just wanted to say that.
  7. It's already been confirmed that it will be Chang. They've said that it will be a relocated standup coaster designed by B&M. But why are we getting Chang when other parks need it more and we already have a standup? I don't know, because it's Six Flags?
  8. Why was the Lady Gay there in the first place? Was it a ride or something?
  9. ^Early in the season is always dead, but many rides aren't open yet due to not enough staffing or because they're still getting them put together from the off-season. Hopefully our next attempt will be on Father's Day when there aren't any crowds. Thanks for the comments guys!
  10. Justice! I'm glad to see that Whizzer is turning back into its old self again, it looks so much nicer. Happy graduation Griffin!
  11. I've been hoping for a Midwest Bash at Six Flags Great America ever since I heard of how awesome West Coast Bashes are. As of right now there is nothing on my calendar so i'm definitely going to go!
  12. Six Flags Great America Gumball Rally June 1, 2010 So a while ago, my friend and I had an idea. Was it possible to ride every ride and see every show and parade at Great America in one day? We had heard stories of people doing "gumball rallys" at Disneyland, so we wanted to try the same thing at our home park. Did we succeed? Read on to find out! Here we are at SFGAm for our first gumball rally! This view will be completely different next year. Many people think that Chang will be placed right here Personally, I think that Six Flags will add an alien space port next year See? Alien symbols! I think that the UFO landing strip will go right here I don't go into Hurricane Harbor much, so here's Tornado from the parking lot Do aliens like waterslides? The go-karts will be gone or relocated next year So Chang/alien space port will occupy most of the main entrance So what's open and what's closed today? Our first ride of the day was on V2 with its new Axe Twist ads Well, at least it's not as bad as the ads on the Demon or the Whizzer We wanted to go on all of the low capacity rides first, so we walked towards Little Dipper. Little Dipper's queue has some great photo ops of Batman's first drop Wheee! It was a lovely day and the crowds were average all day, just a lot of school buses Nananananananananananananananana Batman!!! Loop! There were a lot of signs about the history of the Little Dipper. Sign #1 I'm really glad that Six Flags decided to keep this coaster. Sign #2 I heard that there are a lot of spelling and grammatical mistakes on these signs. Can you spot any? Sign #3 I was able to ride the Little Dipper the day before Kiddieland closed. Sign #4 It was a fun little ride then and it's a fun little ride now. Sign #5 Other rides that Six Flags has saved. Sign #6 Here was the first setback of the day, Little Dipper had gotten stuck on the lift hill. Maintenance got the ride up and running pretty quick though Ah, just how I remembered it You can also get a pretty nice view of V2 from Little Dipper's station The train Quinton and I rallying it up! The fresh paint looked great First drop fun Six Flags really did a great job restoring this ride "Keeping the History Alive" Next up was Ragin Cajun. I noticed that the photo booth was gone. The Dark Knight. Do I have to watch the preshow or can I skip it? Next up, we decided to get the water rides over with. Roaring Rapids opened at 11. We got there a little late and ran into line due to only 1 employee loading rafts. You can get a nice view of the backside of Cajun Log flumes. Yankee Clipper wasn't running today. We got our Spacely's credit next Yup, more water rides. I don't usually go on them because I don't like getting wet at the park, but they were pretty fun. The station of Logger's Run. Old Great America logo spotted! V2 flying into the sky And as if we weren't soaked enough, we went on Buccaneer Battle As always, there was no line for BB Pirates! The master gumball rally list Since we had to see every show as well, we had to sit through Get Ready to Wiggle Since when are clouds blue and purple? We also had to sit through one painful song of karaoke The ropes course by Demon was coming along Hopefully it will be more popular than Magiquest They were working on it all day And now for some Elissa friendly food This McDonalds has some funny coaster art on the wall Is this a credit? We had to hurry back to the park though because we needed to watch Looney Tunes Dance Off! Big Easy Balloons was up next. Hmm, what ride could this be? If you guessed King Chaos, you're correct! Jester's Wild Ride? More like Jester's Mild Ride. Time for some East River Crawler action We continue our way around the park and head on over to Condor We really had to work out the show schedule because most only had 2 show times that day. Here's Mr. Six's Dance Party Artsy Triple Play shot Whizzer had a short line so we hopped on Raging Bull through the trees The next show we went to was Face the Music, a trivia game show That is one giant Imax screen Not much going on in the future Chang/alien space port location Dirt! That's right Mr. Six, aliens are fun! They took out Sky Trek Tower's sign Hi Sky Trek! There once was a fake space shuttle here, soon UFOs will be here instead. You can see the ropes course sticking up above the trees It looks like they added a new building in the back for the Glow in the Park Parade. You can see one of the floats sticking out. It seemed like this area of the parking lot was blocked off, but i'm not sure. Time to ride the carousal! Yup, there's a dragon on the carousal. I had a skip the line pass from the Funatics program that we used to skip the long line for Superman I forgot to take a picture of Whirligig, so here's a bunch of Iron Wolf. This is one of the reasons why Iron Wolf is so rough. Anybody else see the gap between the wheel and the track? We were walking around the park trying to find a ride that didn't have a long line. We got on Revolution, then walked around into the Southwest Territory hoping that Raging Bull had a short wait. I spy a clown car! Raging Bull had a line, so we kept walking. By this point in our day we had an hour left and still more than 10 rides to go. We realized we weren't going to be able to go on every one, but we still had a fun day. We went on Viper twice before moving on to the Orbit We came back to Demon and noticed that they had gotten a lot of work done on the ropes course. A lot of these ropes weren't here that morning. Looking good! Still a couple more ropes to put up Artsy shot of Raging Bull And an artsy shot of Demon. Our final ride of the day was Rue Le Dodge. Overall we were able to ride and see 30 of the 40 running rides and shows. Not bad for a first try! It was a really fun day even though we weren't able to get on everything. We learned a lot from this experience and are going to try again soon! Only next more shows will be running, more rides will be open, we're going to include character meet and greets, and we won't take so many pictures. Hope you guys enjoyed the first Six Flags Great America Gumball Rally report!
  13. ^Chang is only 154 feet tall. The footers on Chang are pretty big, so some people have said that they will simply be smaller.
  14. I went to the park on Tuesday and took pics of Little Dipper, the future location of Chang, and the new ropes course. I'll upload the entire trip report next week. Also, at the next village board meeting on June 7th, Six Flags Great America is asking for approval of a fireworks permit for a 4th of July event. This view will be completely different next year Looking into the lot So long go-karts! Just imagine a giant coaster right there Little Dipper Little Dipper The on-ride photo booth for Ragin Cajun is gone The ropes course is coming along Hopefully it will be a better upcharge attraction than Magiquest And now a closer view of the, um, lot. DIRT!!! Funstruction Overview of the lot/future home of Chang It seemed like this area of the parking lot was blocked off, but i'm not sure. I came back later in the day and they had gotten a lot of work done! See? Progress. More ropes
  15. ^Why are you dissapointed? I mean the Timberliners won't be ready, but the Voyage is still an awesome wooden coaster and Holiday World is still an amazing park, plus there are some awesome things going on at Holiwood Nights this year!
  16. http://www.holidayworld.com/visit/official-holiwood-nights-page
  17. We've got some new unpainted B&M track to speculate about! Screamscape
  18. No, not one bit. In fact, I was tortured all day by those two. I feel so sorry for you Jo. Next time I can drive and try to keep things under control
  19. I don't think we'll have to wait too much longer for Shoot the Rapids according to these tweets. "The top two cedar fair honchos -- a bit wet, you see -- are now learning the joys of water bombing others. =)"
  20. According to SFGAmWorld, Little Dipper will open tomorrow (Thurs) at 10am with the park and there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony.
  21. Wow, that looks great! What custom scenery did you use?
