Photo and Video Trip Report: Texas
Guy T. Koepp replied to JimmyBo's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Hey Jimmybo! Awesome TR! We will be doing the exact opposite in the next few weeks as we travel across country. Starting with Cliffs, and working our way to Seaworld. It should be fun for the whole family. Again! Awesome TR! It looks like you had a great time. -

I would swear it was a "Built this City" by Jefferson Starship remix. Cause the Jefferson Starship band name adds to the whole "Area 51" themeing they got going on there. -

How long ago were those first two photos? Circa 2002? I will give you the fact that the hat was, at one time, black. However, now, it is a difinititive color of brown. Look at that last photo. Your hat is the same color as the wood pannel closet behind you. The poll was, "What color is James hat?" Not, "What color was James hat at one time when it was new, hadn't been washed a zillion times, sun faded, ridden hard and put away wet. It is now dog shit brown. Deal with it! -

This is BLACK! This is YOUR HAT. Deal with it! -
Personaly, I think there's way to much speculation based on one piece of concept drawing. You can't really go by that one sheet. It seems to me that they were just trying to cram every bit of HP onto one poster. There's realy no flow or structure to it at all. The only real details that we know of is that it will take up roughly 20 acres, have the replicas, absorb some of LC and have 3 attractions. I am anxiously awaiting some sort of blueprints, mock ups, hard evidence of location, as well as some "real" concept drawings. I guarantee there are already 100s of them that they arn't or won't release to the public untill they're ready. As far as I'm concerned the "concept drawings" that they did reveal realy seem more to me like a movie poster than real concept drawings. I think it (the HP Island) will be great whatever they choose to do.

I for one am extremely excited about this news. I love the HP books. As far as them not having longetivity. I emphatically disagree. I'm 40 now and am getting ready to start reading them with my 7 yr old. When my little girl get to 7 I will begin reading them with her as well. Knowing them as well as I do. I can guarantee they will be chomping at the bit to read them with their kids 25+ years down the road. Right there you have 50 years of one familys fanbase. That says longevity to me. As far as placement of the new Island is concerned. I will really reserve judgement until I see more details. I love DD, but have no issues with it being re-themed. It wont effect the ride. I personally hope to see 3 all new attractions, and think that the area through and behind Sinbad would be most logical for this. Regardless, I am very excited about this news and can't wait to see how this area turns out.

Very funny TR! It looks like you all had a great time. Even with all the coaster hatin' going on. Rich, you and James are like the Felix Unger & Oscar Maddison of the coaster world. Funny, funny stuff. -

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Derek! Without you I would never have been able to sample some of Pennsylvania's finest. You were a gracious host, and an excellent beer instructor. We'll have to find some cool microbrew place in TN when you get down there in the fall. Thanks again! I had a great time. -

Welcome to Theme Park Review. Congrats on a well thought out, honest trip report. I have never been to either park, so I can't comment. I will be at KK in the Fall, so I at least have that to look forward to. Keep up the good work, and enjoy yourself at Dollywood. I have been there. It rocks! So don't get go saying anything negative about it. -

Awww! That first picture you look ready to burst into tears. I hope you tucked it neatly away inside your bra. That way he could be closer to your heart... ...or his face could cop a feel. Whatever. Awesome TR! Looks like you had a great time. I am hoping to get up to DL this year if I do my gig in Boston again. Time will tell. -

Except for in LoTR, there's evil tower = The lair of Saruman the White Wizard, and super evil tower = The lair of the Dark lord Sauron / Eye of Sauron. -

How true this is. You should see the throngs of fanboys and fangirls that are waiting for the TPR gang at the exit of Good Tower. It's like a sea of coaster geeks ready to please us at our whim. Nice work FLIP. Very insightful and funny.
