PTR: The Dark Knight Coaster Media Event
Guy T. Koepp replied to FlyerACE1's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I am very impressed by how they have progressed with this ride. I usually have lower expectations when it comes to 6F. But this ride realy looks well done. I now may have 3 reasons to return to GAdv. -
Great pictures! I too love watching the construction progress. I wanted to comment on that NO Limits re-creation. I seriously don't think it will have that much height. I realy see this thing being more of the AIR style flying coaster. I think it will harmlessly glide through its course. It also wouldn't shock me to see a nice sized portion, or the beginning of the ride as an underwater or dark ride segment. I don't think Manta will be any where near as aggressive as Tatsu or even as mildly aggressive as any of the SUF clones. But that's just my two cents. Guy "I still think it will be a great ride though." Koepp

Eric. Absolutely hi-larious video of Home Toy Story F'ing Mania! I'm here at an airport Starbucks laughing out loud! Brilliant! Thank you for the overviews. I guess I'll see them both while I'm there this October. I was helping Showpro install some of the lighting effects for the Simpsons ride in LA the last time I was here in town. They were cycling the film to synch to the lighting and I couldn't help but notice the ride program was exactly the same as BttF. Nice to hear that it is a bit smoother though. Also glad to hear us taller people won't suffer the unintentional head bashing with the new ride vehicles. I too had the same issue with the back seat of the Delorians. As always, great TR! And again, awesome video! Soooooooooo many moments of comedy gold!

Awesome TR Chuck! I loved the waterslide POV. Especially the Reverse POV with your face filling the image. Very funny! I love waterparks and waterslides! This one seems very nice and family oriented. -

TPR's Indiana Beach Video!
Guy T. Koepp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Robb, If you mask the 4:3 stuff, off line it, then re digitize it as 16:9, you will actually get closer to a 2.35:1 aspect ratio on a 16:9 format. Unless you use some sort of scaler or digital zoom between the off line and re-capture. However, I must say I really like the look of the 16:9 letterboxed. If you shoot it with a superwide angle lens. It looks like panavision! Guy "Mmmmmmmmm Panavision! " Koepp -

Just finished watching CE10! Awesome job you guys! An absolute joy to watch from start to finish. Very well paced, funny and exciting. It makes you feel as if you were right there on the trip getting Spookbaby boob creds. Guy "Mmmmmmmmm Spooky boob creds! Batter dipped and deep fried! With a Chipotle honey mustard sauce for dipping! TPR's Indiana Beach Video!

^It actually depends on the chip inside the optical medium. If the chip is 16:9. Then the recorded image will be 16:9. If the chip is a 4:3 AR. then it will be recorded in 4:3. The recording medium will record whatever the capture device is. Robb, I find that shooting with a wide angle lens really helps with the conversion. Being that your already compressing a wider image onto a 4:3 screen. When it is stretched out. It helps having that much more content on screen. But, I think you already know that, as I believe we've had this conversation before. Oh! For all those interested. "What's in a Brain?" was shot 16:9. Some of the Halloween 2005 footage from Universal / IOA was even shot 2.35:1 letterboxed to 16:9. And I might add, it looks F'ing awesome on my new 65" 1080p Mitsu. So does the Wii! Oh! and so does the PS3! I think after "WiaB2? The Revenge of Dr. Phyl." is released, I will start shooting in HD. I'm sure helmetcam will come out with a 16:9 chip lipstick cam soon. They will have to. That's the only way they will be able to compete. -

Excellent TR Craig. I'm hoping to get back up there this year during my NY trip. I love this 6F park. It has a much more peaceful feeling than most parks in the chain. Greeat job of documenting the older park stuff as well. Guy "Mmmmmmmmmm SRoS! Best steel in America!" Koepp -

If I have a Carowinds Platnium pass. Will I get in early for CP ERT? I couldn't fine that on the website. -
I totally get why they have the locker policy. I just don't like the idea that because of it, someone is forced to fork out an extra $5 for a day of locker rental at each of the described rides. I would love to see a lot of signage as well as employees mentioning this policy upon entering the park. When someone goes through my bag as I go through the metal detector would be a great opportunity to mention this fact and that there are all day lockers in the entrance plaza. Just my 2 cents.

Is it sad that I remember watching some of these on our ginormous 19" TV screen. Yes, we had both kinds of TV. UHF and VHF. Oh, and it was one of the first to come out with a non clicking remote control. Granted it had a 20 ft wire that streched across our living room. But it didn't make that awful clacking noise. Hey... what do you want! It was 19 whole inches! Woo Hoo! Guy "I don't think we have a monitor in my house now that's less than 22. Or, is still a 4/3 aspect ratio for that matter." Koepp -
Hmmmmmmmmm! So the picture of X2 was a volcano. This does not say fire to me. It says hot molten lava! Are they going to fill the concrete pool at the end of the drop with hot lava? That would be awesome to watch your skin melting off as you passed over a lava lake. As the train enters the station just a bunch of smoking skelletons remain. That would be awesome! Guy "Great TR Jahan." Koepp
