  1. ^Thats awfully rude, don't you think. I never said they were water slide gods. I think they are the superior company in the grand scheme of things. Both Polin and White Water have subpar products aesthetically and technologically. I am basing my argument purely on the slides, not their maintenance or anything else. Your argument is totally irrelevant in what we are discussing. We are looking at how the slides ride and such, not how they are maintained or why parks buy them.
  2. Oddly enough, Proslide was founded to copy White Water West...White Water West started in 1980, with Pro Slide coming along six years later in 1986. I would say that White Water West is the clear leader in the play structure department. But more relevant to this thread, I'd say their product is also the more intense version, as it is closer to a true loop. I totally agree with you that White Water has a defined lead on play structure and other departments, but when it comes to slides, no one beats ProSlide's innovation.
  3. It's true that the industry is based on adaption and improvement, but ProSlide is incredibly innovative. They were the first to use a funnel slide and cloverleaf tubes. They were the original bowl slide pioneers. They turned the water coaster concept from a cool, but not super thrilling idea into an insanely crazy experience. They invented the mat racing slide (and all variations of the mat racer), family raft slide, and the freefall slide. They are the innovators of the industry for sure. Not to say that White Water West hasn't made large contributions to the industry, I just believe that they are not nearly as innovative in their concepts. I will say, the Boomerango is a great product though.
  4. The SuperLoop does not have a weight requirement so it is accessible to a wider variety of patrons. Also, the SkyBox (trapdoor) technology that ProSlide uses is far superior and really scares you. The angle of the slide after the floor drops is much steeper as well. Although you might not fully invert, the SuperLoop pushes you against the wall with such force you feel like you are inverted and you experience more sensations than the Aqualoop gives. All in all, the SuperLoop is a more complete package for parks, just like all of ProSlide's products.
  5. One little correction: The Aqualoop was actually not developed by White Water West. White Water West just licensed the ride design from AQUARENA. So they didn't design the ride or even develop it, they just bought the rights to sell the ride. The same goes for the Masterblaster, which was developed by NBGS International and the FlowRider. Basically, White Water West doesn't really develop many original slides, they just redo other slide-maker's ideas in a different and usually subpar method. ProSlide on the other hand actually develops, designs, and manufactures its products. I have never found a product that White Water West did better than ProSlide aesthetically and ride wise.
  6. As one who personally believes that all restraints should be B&M clamshell's, these new trains are absolutely amazing to me! Congrats Nagashima!
  7. How long has the line generally been for NTAG this season?
  8. What is the hourly throughput for NTAG with just two trains? Also, can anyone report how NTAG is running right now? I am thinking about going to the park on Sunday. Any idea on how crowded it will be?
  9. Since when are they only running 2 trains at a time? I have only seen three train operation except for the one time when the red train was out for maintenance for half the day.
  10. I still love the coasters, but I find Intamin's new support system kind of cheap and fair ride like. I think the tube supports look so much nicer. This being said, the ride looks awesome and gigantic!
  11. One thing that I really like is when a ride utilizes height and directional changes in order to vary the speed. I don't really care if a ride hauls through, but I prefer a ride to have speed changes consistently. This all being said, I still think it is a very good ride. When I watched POV's of the ride, I was very skeptical, but it definitely exceeded my expectations; however, I still don't think it is a top ten ride. If they can fix the restraints, it would probably land at #8 at the highest on my list.
  12. I don't really see a problem with that. It still looks better than any prior theme that a Six Flags spinner has or had previously.
  13. That's a pretty bold statement. I'm assuming that you just couldn't handle the awesomeness of negative 2 Gs? I found that the ride lost a lot of speed quickly and that although the airtime was absolutely fantastic and spectacular, it was over so quickly. I also thought that the restraints took away from the experience, but that is a pretty standard complaint for the ride. I wish that the park had just thought everything through a little bit more, but it is still a great ride, just not as good as NTAG or I-305.
  14. "Main coaster"? What are you going on about? Do Storm Runner, Fahrenheit, Lightning Racer, Sooperdooperlooper, Comet, and Wildcat suddenly not matter anymore? Tell you what, I'll go in for Springtime and ride those coasters and you can stay home. Did i say they were not good rides? All i said is the main coaster which is Skyrush is now suddenly taken off. All their merchandise has Skyrush on it so right now its the main coaster. Back in 04-05 Storm Runner was the main coaster and 09-10 Fahrenheit was the main coaster. Thats what i mean, not in terms of good ride bad ride. And nah, i will probably end up going anyway, i will be that person who will just stare at Skyrush the whole day.. I wouldn't say that Fahrenheit was the main coaster. Quite frankly, Hershey really has several main coasters, but I wouldn't come anywhere near calling Fahrenheit the main one. Up until Skyrush, which was vastly overrated in the polls due and belonged in the top 20, Storm Runner was the the main coaster and I still think that it is. It has the most unique aspects to it.
  15. In a way, the support structure fits the overall theme of the ride. It makes it look contorted and out of shape, just like an eel. Great ride though.
  16. Intamin does seem to have a really hard time making restraints that are comfortable for a wide variety of patrons. I would love to see something along the lines of a B&M Clamshell restraint that comes down overhead.
  17. Yep. Texas Giant originally had a double-up turn that was later smoothed to just an upward swooping turn. I think that some of the banking in the helix was reprofiled at some point as well. Are there any pictures of this? I can't seem to find any anywhere. Also, does anyone know how extensively Magnum was reprofiled?
  18. Wasn't the Texas Giant previously reprofiled before NTAG?
  19. With all of the reprofiling being done on rides lately, I started wondering about older reprofiled coasters. Obviously the original Rattler's shortened drop and SOB's inversion removal are major make-overs, but what about other, less talked about reprofiles? What are some coasters that have had major work done, but no one really talks about it? Why did the rides get makeovers? Feel free to share before and after pictures or videos!
  20. I get that there is a trend for water parks right now, but really? This is frustrating how little drive for actual rides there is. Now granted, KK is pretty awful in terms of coasters, but still, I wish there was a greater emphasis on the rides.
  21. Interesting. NTAG is already the epitome of a smooth coaster and I can't imagine how they could possibly make it any more so. I wonder how this affects the price of the coaster. All that extra steel and labor probably contributed to the cost, explaining how this is costing about the same as NTAG.
  22. I am not sure that I understand the purpose of the additional plate on either tracks, but especially the IBox. I feel that it would be the most beneficial and simplistic for both to just be completely prefabricated. So once you install the IBox, you are done. Same with Topper Track. Once you install the actual track, no need for the additional plate. Is there a specific reason for these plates?
  23. What about Iron Shark? Normal EuroFighter car with Lap Bars. They are exactly the same width as a standard car.
  24. Please, for the love of God, let this ride have lap bars. Euro-Fighters become awful rides with OTSR and the new lap bar system is just amazing.
