I wonder if Kanonen would be retrofitted to use LSMs since they are more efficient and reliable than the hydraulic launch. -
Lagoon Discussion Thread

Every ride manufacturer has problems now and then with things, and just because one ride has them, doesn't mean every one manufactured does or will. It's always better to be safe and keep an eye on things, like Lagoon does. I don't believe I've ever heard anyone call Jet Star 2 rough. I love Jet Star 2 because it's got a little bit of everything.....pop of air on the first drop, great g forces, disorientating, carousels, and the reduction brake is the exclamation point. Lagoon spends money on Jet Star 2 because the Ride still has plenty of riders, and the dual loading has made it more efficient. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk The whole decision to use AC motors has caused so many problems. As for Jet Star 2, it needs to go. It's rough and it's space could be better used. Lagoon has done a great job of taking standard rides and theming them, but the presence of carnival rides or rides that aren't built with permanent footers just looks tacky. Lagoon is better than that. If they want to become a more premier park, they need to start phasing out the eyesores of the park (the enterprise, Jet Star 2, several kiddy land rides, Wild Mouse, Scrambler, and the paratrooper). -

I have found that Gerstlauer's rides are only as smooth as the car wants it to be. It definitely varies from car to car. Euro-fighters are substantially rougher than the new infinity coasters too. They're making progress, but they need to improve the consistency of the ride experience. -

If I remember correctly, that flume was from Hafema, correct? The Madagascar ride at USS is also from them and had a bunch of problems (can't remember what they were). Did this one have problems too? -

B&M Restraints: Old vs. New
coastercrazy216 replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From what I understand, the trim brakes on the airtime hills are to control the speed to make sure it performs as designed. These rides often have to operate in a wide variety of conditions. I haven't really had an example of the rattle yet, besides on Batman at SFOT, but that was because they hadn't rehabbed the trains in three years. I thought Banshee was fine as were the Cedar Fair hypers. Personally, I prefer the new restraints. On their older rides, the intensity is so high that the potential for head banging is really there. It kinda seems like this community thinks that B&M is becoming the new Arrow... -
I too love Viper, and IMO the way they maintain the ride, it will be around for at least another decade. Back seat over that first drop is one of my favorite drops on any coaster. It really whips you over the top, then spins you tight left. You just don't see rides have a first drop like Viper anymore. And while it's not as smooth as B&M's (which is how I prefer it, actually) it really is a very good ride considering all the unique elements it has, especially for how old it is. Why would you rather ride something that isn't as smooth as other available rides? That doesn't really make any sense, unless you are a chiropractor and want more buisness.

This isn't a Euro Fighter. This is built in house by Lagoon. -
I am not gonna sugar coat it, I am a 100% ProSlide fanboy. That being said, I do like other slide makers and I think they all have good products, but Polin's slides are just ugly! Cowabunga Bay is really the only park that has done Polin any justice in terms of attractive slides. Polin's products just look like knockoffs to me. Such odd shapes and colors. I just wonder how they ride.

Well, Wicked cost $10 million, but it had a launch. I'd say it's a little bit under $10,000,000. That was also in 2007 -

I'd call it a rewinding barrel roll. One inversion is the barrel roll, one inversion is the rewind... Or maybe a barrel roll and a barrel unroll. I need to remember to sleep at night. Switchback Barrel Rolls was voted on and approved by the LIF board of directors, so We shall know soon what it will be officially called in a month. Because the LIF board of directors are absolutely the final decision for all names of things at Lagoon ... Anyway, the ride looks fantastic and I cannot wait to ride it this summer! -

Has it been confirmed that this is for sure a dual elevator? Can anyone provide a source for that? The water feature definitely adds a lot, but it still does not add up to me. Griffon is 3,000 feet of track and was 15 million with some of the most expensive trains in the industry. Leviathan was 28 million for nearly 5,500 feet of track, which is around double the length of Cannibal. It just does not make sense to me that this ride is costing 22 million when there are similar coaster lengths that are a fraction of the cost. -

The more I think about it, the more that would make sense. This is a 22 million dollar investment and there is less than 3 thousand feet of track. Even with the theming and the elevator lift, there has to be something thats keeping that price so high. They are doing the ride in house to keep the cost down. Even Full Throttle cost 6 million and has 2,200 feet of track and a launch. There has to be something. -
^ What you will learn very quickly is that park employees know just about nothing about the future plans. Look at Holiday World, they waited until the day of the announcement to tell the full time staff about Thunderbird, but they still didn't tell the seasonal staff. SFGAdv isn't going to tell anyone about their plans unless it is absolutely crucial and it is not crucial for park employees to know. While it is possible that this could be true, it is highly unlikely because of Six Flags' tight grip on cash lately.
