  1. Love it! This is going to be a huge hit with the park guests. I see why a lot of people might be disappointed since this isn't exactly the airtime monster they were hoping for, but it is still a 30 million dollar coaster (rumored to be at least). Parks can only spend so much. With a ride of this height, there is no way they could have a ride as long as this one with huge airtime hills. Plus, look at the height of these hills! Even the smaller ones are still about 100 feet tall! Most rides could probably fit under those small hills! Very excited to see how this attraction works for Carowinds!
  2. Okay, there are so many things wrong with this statement. First off, you've never even ridden the ride. You have no idea if it is smooth, too intense, or has enough airtime. Most people aren't as good as Robb at POV's, so you can't really get your information from that. Second off, if it didn't stop at the MCBR, that helix would be even more intense and crazy. Third, where exactly did you get this "evidence?" Finally, the ride is NOTHING like Magnum XL-200 and many people would argue that Goliath is better than Magnum since it is so brutal. On top of that, Goliath is INFINITELY smoother than Magnum. Basically, what I am trying to say, and what many people would also say, is that you can't judge a ride until you ride it. Just look at the two Drop of Doom towers at SFMM and SFGAdv! Sure, they should be the most intense drop towers ever, but they aren't at all.
  3. My office blocks all streaming content and such so I'm unable to watch it live. Try to keep us updated if you can!
  4. It makes me sick that people are so against SeaWorld, but don't seem to care as much about other marine parks or the fact that many zoos and aquariums have far worse living conditions. Someone should make a documentary about lions in captivity or something.
  5. Huh, Colossus opened up on June 29th 1978. Even back in the 70s Six Flags couldn't get its rides opened up before the start of summer.
  6. HA! A new coaster at Darien Lake? What have you been smoking? ^^^ So true...
  7. This is a CNL park. They hate spending money so they definitely won't spend 20 million on a Maverick clone. More realistic is a family type coaster similar to Steel Lasso. It is unlikely that we will see a coaster added to the park at all though for some time. I think a flat or two is more CNL style.
  8. The GP isn't going to notice if it is a clone or not, so that doesn't matter. As long as it is a coaster.
  9. Honestly, that just sounds like a terrible idea, especially since the wooden coaster in question is a pretty bad one...
  10. OMG That was, indeed, truly awesome! I actually think that a Mary Poppins Parachute Tower would be pretty cool! Definitely better than the Toy Story version...
  11. Let's just put it this way, if those restraints fail or they don't staple you in, you will go flying. It is definitely comparable to Skyrush or El Toro. Really the best moment of any ride in that park. I wish Lagoon would add a coaster with more airtime moments because that is really missing from the park, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.
  12. I don't think he was yelling at you. He was just trying to explain it all. To be completely honest, you cant trust most of what operators say. I was at SFOT last Thursday, at the operator at NTAG was saying that the drop was 60 degrees. The operators know about as much about what is going on in the park as the GP does in most cases.
  13. ^ In this industry, they are generally referred to as "footers" by both the enthusiast community and the actual industry.
  14. Well first off, its the Golden Ticket Awards, which is ridiculously terrible. Second off, its a classic ride that helped push the limits of roller coasters in its time.
  15. Let's get real, nothing is pointing to a B&M either. EVERYTHING that is being said is speculation. We have no idea if the track at the B&M plant is for Holiday World. Nothing is confirmed, nothing is for sure.
  16. Went to the park over the weekend for the first time. Loved the rides, but good God they have the WORST operations I have ever seen. I was at Six Flags Over Texas on Thursday and then Nickelodeon Universe Saturday and Nickelodeon Universe's operations made SFOT's look like a work of art. Avatar and Brain Surge both should have had 2-3 ops on the ride (two checking restraints and one scanning wristbands), but they both only had one. Really miserable wait times on those rides.
  17. Did you not read the lengthy post by HTF? Just before your own or at least the beginning. I did, but I was wondering for more specifics. For example, Intamin was responsible for which parts and Dynamics Structures was responsible for such and such parts.
  18. So who has been confirmed to be involved on the Gringotts project? Which companies are responsible for what in the ride?
  19. ^Literally the entire industry has been like this forever. This is nothing new. Remember the standup coaster that everyone copied? Inverted coaster? I mean you could argue that the wooden coaster was copied as well. It is all about what the park wants and the $$$.
  20. I know that Luna Park removed its Zamperla Midi Discovery. Is this it, or a new one?
  21. It wasn't the actual ride that took Disney so long to make, it was the AMAZING scenery. Besides, if Zamperla's track record is any indicator, Seven Dwarves is going to be the superior ride in terms of smoothness as well. Trust me, if there was a faster way to do it, Disney would. Time is money...
  22. Just because a ride is shorter or isn't as fast does not mean that it is an inferior ride. The Larson ARM towers are better than most other towers on the market, including towers twice as tall. As for Kumba, if you have ridden it, then you understand why it is so amazing. Sheikra is great, but not nearly as intense or crazy. All of the rides you listed are good, but not great. If you like those rides over Kumba, then you probably also think that Top Thrill Dragster is better than Maverick....
  23. Cedar Fair has some fantastic graphic designers! I love all of the logos they have been doing recently!
  24. I agree with you on that, and what is really sad about that is that the Fantasyland update is astronomically superior in terms of quality of the product compared to any of the Potter crap at IOA and USO, but the fact that it is smaller makes people disappointed. Personally, I am amazingly impressed with the work Disney has been doing lately (California Adventure to present). They have really been upping their game and making attractions that not only look astonishingly real, but are fun and are perfect for the target audience. All of the Potter stuff just seems cheap to me. Like just hastily thrown together. Maybe the new part will change that, but I don't see it happening. All of this just proves that nobody does it like Disney.
  25. I am going to be heading to SDC this Saturday. Anyone have any tips on which order I should do the rides? What kind of crowds should I expect?
